The lingo and concepts many of these programs used sound very close to those used by Charles Manson (being "on center", "it's all done with mirrors", etc.). Did he have something to do with this whole industry?

Manson was a Scientologist. EST and LifeSpring were Scientology squirrels (derivatives), and have had a large influence over the industry in general. Other than that, i can't think of any other connection.
Those crazy Propheets? Those were created by Wasserman based around EST and LifeSpring.

Thanks for the info. From what you said about the "propheets" or the game - it sounds like there was some connection in
thought which is why some of us who drank the kool-aid and stayed at one of these places for a couple years hear so much familiarity in the Manson speeches and interviews.

The parent seminars were also created by Mel Wasserman and Bill Valentine from est and LifeSpring (this is directly from Penelope Valentine, Bill's wife, who I talked to on the phone)

I believe Peter Levenda mentions Manson in his book, but according to him, this goes back before him.

Manson was a Scientologist.
He was? No mention of that in his autobiography.
