Title: how can you load attatchments if youre using tor
Post by: Anonymous on February 16, 2009, 10:30:43 PM
I'm Trying to use tor to send some attachments to an email.

I get a "loading attachment" message forever. It never loads.

What can i do?
what am i doing wrong?

Tor is a *lot* slower than direct access.  True anonymity comes at a price.  It will take a long time to load attachments (especially big ones).

I don't mind waiting, but  it doesn't seem to just load at all..I waited an hour. Should I leave in on overnight and see if it works that way? Or is there something  I am doing wrong?

I am using Yahoo Mail, and I don't have java script so I have to use the "yahoo classic"

Depending on the attachment and the tor node you are using, it might take more than an hour.  What browser are you using?

First I would test by attaching a small file (such as a text file / word doc) and sending it to yourself.  If that works, the bigger file should work too.  How big is the file you are trying to attach?

I am using firefox and tor combined.

The file is small. I tried loading an even smaller file--just a jpg, and it wouldn't load either.

Or i will receive this message:
There was a problem!
No file specified. Please try again.

I'm not specifying a file? Huh? I don't get it...Can you normally send attachments through tor, and this is a problem at my end somehow?

Tor shouldn't be interfering with it.  I'm not sure what the problem might be.  Wikileaks suggests tor for it's submissions and it works fine.  Have you tried the same with another email service?
