Title: AARC Q & F V
Post by: ajax13 on February 07, 2009, 01:52:30 PM
What was the Founder’s vision for AARC?

In creating the AARC program Dr. Dean Vause set out to address the increasing need for quality long-term treatment of chemically dependent youth in Canada (Vause 1994a). At this time Alcoholics Anonymous was the largest, most organized and widely recognized as the most successful group addressing addiction and recovery anywhere. However, it was not designed specifically to address adolescent denial and developmental issues. Consequently, young people often failed to maintain sobriety in its unstructured environment.

Dr Vause approached the problem with the vision of designing a state-of-the-art treatment model in response to clearly expressed concerns of the Calgary community and escalating calls for help from many struggling parents (parents who later created the Alberta Adolescent Recovery Centre Society).

If the Wiz is the Founder of AARC, how was he hired by Dr. Dookie and the board?  Did the Wiz found the institution, set up a board, and then get hired by the board he created?
