Title: Who should be the next ZOMBIE
Post by: psy on February 03, 2009, 01:15:15 PM
I've completed my first Zombie (attached) and will be making a bunch more. I've decided on a theme: program suporters and historical figures.  Who should I do next?  I'll also need a decent reference photo (or photos) of the subject, so if you know where I can find any, please let me know.  I'll be releasing all the models under the Creative Commons license so you can do with them what you will.  I'm also considering importing a few into some popular game engines so you can blow you're "favorite" programmie's head clean off (in the game, of course).

Here is a hires photo

My favorite so far:

Another good one:

There is no question he would make a good zombie.  He already has "the look".

added some details, added teeth.  did a render, then the program crashed and i'm back to the last post :(.  Oh well.  My bad.  should have saved more often.  two hours work down the toilet...
Here was what it looked like:[attachment=0:5xx0wiym]Picture 445.png[/attachment:5xx0wiym]

Next step is to add asymmetrical wrinkes/details and zombie-fie him.

do some dribbling nose goo!
oh and looking at the picture I would suggest protruding the jaw a little bit more.

do some dribbling nose goo!

Maybe... if it fits with the rest of the zombies (the first one has no nose (or lips) at all, so I suppose it's possible).  The nose goo does sounds good for gauld, though.  He has such a friggin huge nose anyway.

protruding the jaw a little bit more.

That's what I thought at first, but then somebody sent me a side-view of Gauld and his jaw doesn't protrude that much.

...But he juts his jaw out when he has that expression, so I think Femanon is right.

Also, top teeth only appear smaller due to top lip being compressed over them.

But all in all, an amazing rendition! Completely recognizable as him! Damn, you're good at this, psy!

cool cool.  will change that too.  Thanks for the crit.

Thanks.

Tomorrow i'll turn off symmetry, add the hair on the top of his head, mustache, wrinkles, other asymmetrical details, and then start painting on the textures.

This is good practice.  The reason I decided on zombies is because they're always in fashion.  Game companies always need zombies.  I can't think of an FPS than hasn't had zombies in recent history.  Even Mass Effect, an outer space game, had two seperate zombie-type charachters (the husks and the thorian ones that explode green).

LOL...My wife and I love the part at the end when Phil asks "You just made that up, didn't you?"  I love the tone of voice, completely incredulous.

Fr. Cassian he calls himself, huh?  This is from Wikipedia:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cassian_of_Imola (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cassian_of_Imola)
Quote

There are at least two references in modern literature to Cassian. In the novel A Confederacy of Dunces by John Kennedy Toole, protagonist Ignatius Reilly informs one of his professors that "St. Cassian of Imola was stabbed to death by his students with their styli."

Since they were eager for revenge for the many punishments he had inflicted on them, they bound him to a stake and tortured him to death by stabbing him with their pointed iron styli, the devices then used to mark wooden or wax writing tablets.

Keep on stabbin' away.

Calvina Fay
(http://http://www.pbs.org/newshour/images/law/jan-june05/marij_fem3.jpg)

Here's why. Calvina is drawing fire from the likes of LEAP
http://transform-drugs.blogspot.com/200 ... -with.html (http://transform-drugs.blogspot.com/2008/10/drug-free-america-foundation-clash-with.html)

And she has a history of raising some ire and getting some ink with similar ridiculous public moves.
http://www.cognitiveliberty.org/8jcl/8JCL83.htm (http://www.cognitiveliberty.org/8jcl/8JCL83.htm)

She has a much broader 'fan' base than some of these other folks and might make the game and it's attending trivia (which could get to be a bitch of a lot of fun!) more broadly appealing.

Wow... You know what? I don't ever remember seeing pics of mel on the spring lodge walls or in the main house or anything at RMA. Normally founder pics are all over the place at these types of places... and his appearances at the school always had the air of a visiting celebrity. Seriously, Mr. Snuffleuppagus had more face time than he did.

Clever bastard.

Well, if someone knows where his mausoleum is, just dig his fat ass up, and the reference won't even need to be exaggerated. :P

That would be a wonderfully absurd reason for me to just call Stacy up. Hey, Stacy, remember me? Yeah, do you have any good photos of your dad? I know someone who wants to make him into a zombie for a 3d game.
