Let's not fuck it up this time....Vote for a real american patriot, Barack Obama!
-
Can't stand McCain or Obama. They are both full of shit and anyone who thinks that Obama is going to be " the change we are looking for" is going to be disappointed if he wins. It's a sad state for our country that the people who could really make the changes we need stay far away from politics.

yeah, but who else do we have to vote for? As always, lesser of two evils. We know the Republicans are not for the middle class american. Look at how they controled straight...all they cared about was our money and power in the drug war. Maybe, just maybe we will get some more reasonable laws out of a Obama administration. We know that McCain will surround himself with the Semblers of the world.

On the other hand, Miller Newton was a democrat. Even ran for congress, or some shit. Democrats have let things slide on their watch, too. I will not be voting for either one of them. NONE OF THE ABOVE!!!!!!!!!

Thank you.
I knew I wasn't alone but in every blog and post I've read recently, the people are either pro McCain or pro Obama with no room for question.
I realize that we only have two choices here but what do you do when you can't stand either one? How do you choose?
There is all this " get out there and vote" which I agree with..but what if you don't like either one?
The McCain fanatics and the Obama hypers are all in overdrive which becomes more disgusting with every day.
I can't remember what the stats are but the percentage of people that are undecided is still significent.
I guess we are not alone.

Well said.

Don't kid yourselves. The Dempublicans are every bit as high on prohibition, mind control and the rest of the power trip as the Repugnicrats are. When Clinton took office, one of the first things he did was to federally fund 100k more local cops. Nearly all of them were tasked to drug war detail. A big part of Hillary's health care initiative has been the push for "Treatment not incarceration" (aka Stalinist reeducation) Damned near all of the drug policy reform movement bought into it, which is why Fornits is what it is instead of a sub-topic of Media Awareness Project.
The only candidate with a decent platform is Ron Paul. Google "Ron Paul (http://http://www.google.com/search?q=ron+paul&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=com.ubuntu:en-US:unofficial&client=firefox-a). I'm done even looking at the Libertarian party. Their boy, Bob Bar, is a charlatan. For years, he was one of the most militant, underhanded drug warriors on the hill. Then he suddenly turns on a dime and takes their nomination? :bs:
Despite an astounding amount of grass roots support, there's probably little chance that Paul will even take the majority of votes in any district except maybe his own congressional district. I recognize that. Look, we're not trying to pick the winner in a damned football game. Voting is about influencing the outcome, not about calling it so you can say you picked the winner. And there's even less chance that the results will be reported. Our elections are at least as corrupt anymore as any post Soviet republic. Besides, as noted above, no matter who wins, those who voted for him will likely be ashamed later. So why even try to vote for the winner?
Instead, think of the influence we could have by effecting the exit polls. Exit polls are surveys taken at the polling sites by asking people who they just voted for. Some folks don't answer, that's fine. They're usually the most accurate indication of an accurate vote other than counting the votes. Last election, statisticians and political journalists were :bs: :bs: :bs: :bs: because the exit polls were way off of official tallies, especially in precincts with electronic voting machines.
I believe there is NO hope for restoring the Republic through the official electoral process. Rebellion and civil war are virtually inevitable. The only thing up for grabs is how the aftermath will go. And the more people who recognize the need for rebellion and the earlier they realize it the shorter and less violent it will be.
There are so many historic examples of this it's hard to know where to start naming them. It only took the Molly McGuires (http://http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Molly_Maguires) a couple of years to win their ward because they had the overwhelming support of the local polulation. When the locals rebelled against President Washington over an excise tax on Rye whisky, the good people of Pittsburgh responded to the siege of their city by laying out tables full of food and drink for the "occupying" forces. The dispute was negotiated w/o any bloodshed, even though Washington had sent a force of 13k soldiers to put down the rebellion. Conversely, the German people didn't have a lot of love for The White Rose (http://http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/White_Rose) resistance and so, brave and correct as they were, they didn't have a lot of impact and millions suffered and died.
So vote for Ron Paul. If even 10% vote for him and even half of those people and their friends and associates have a pretty good idea that they official results are :bs: then the ensuing rebellion will be so much shorter and less violent.

I appreciate all the thoughts and comments; but the reality is we can only choose between Obama and McSame. I can not bring myself to vote for McSame. Whle I think the Dems at the national and probably state level (in Florida) are just about as corrupt as the Republicans, my yard stick is JEB (used to work for the bastard), I'm voting Dem. Ron Paul has lots of great ideas on policy, he is unelectable. Just like when W ran against Gore, it was too risky to vote for Nadar, so I'm voting for Obama. Where we can all have great deal of influence is at the local level. While we have little or no influence at a national level, we can follow our city commissioner or county commissioner around a grocery store hammering away at their vote from the prevous week (I've done this and actually helped change a vote the following commission meeting) So, my vote will go to the Dems this election year. And sorry antigen, revolution, civil is not an option. The gun control lobby has made it almost impossible to own a weapon that is effective against the army.

Just shoot a few of my dingleberries at them -- that'll do the trick! :D

Think about where we were as a country when it was Bush v Gore. Our economy was in good shape at the end of Clinton. One of our biggest issues on the political agenda was environment. Of course Obama is not going to solve all our problems because he's got a huge mess to clean up. Both candidates are going to overpormise and underacheive. ITS POLITICS! The point is, how far has the line been pulled over the last 8 yrs? It's time to pull it back. It's would be naive to suggest either of them are sincere in what they say, but it's pretty obvious what McCain stands for. More war, more tax breaks for the super rich (even Warren Buffet is against it.), and for god sakes the guy has had numerous cancers removed he is going to keel over and leave us with Palin. Everyone should be scared to death of that. Besides, there is a big difference betwee these candidates and the big corporations know it. Barrack doesn't have to do anything to change this country but win. Once that happens the energy companies will re-invest in alternative energy and create millions of jobs, they are already anticipating it.

Win Percentage
Obama 87.4%
McSame 12.6%
It's already over, McSame is going to lose.
You are living in historic times! a black man is about to be elected president in a country where 150 years ago he would of been considered property. Now that's change you can believe in! I think Obama is going to be one of the most notable and successful presidents in history, and be our generations FDR. Feel feel to give me shit for being optimistic and naive, I can take it.

My only real thought here is this is why people go soft and we end up losing elections by a stolen hair. The people that don't care or don't know get the impression that so- and so is going to win anyways so why bother voting? I'm all for optimism but we should be scared and express fear of losing this one, it is a real possibility. Rile the base, stay vigilant and never underestimate your enemy!
-
And, never underestimate the Crooked Republican Party in Florida. They have already "updated" their felon list. As in 2000, if your name is the same as a felon (felons can't vote in FL unless their rights are restored...a long and tedious process), there is a great possibility your name has ben purged from voter roles. Now, the it may be difficult or impossible if your name on the driver's license and voter roles do not match. for example...John Alan Smith on roles; John Allan Smith on DL. High possibility you will be purged from the roles. My middle name on my DL doesn't match my middle name spelling on roles, so we shall see. If this happens to me, then I will have to be carried out, I will raise bloody hell.

Ohio Expects Heavy Use of Provisional Ballots
[url]http://www.electoral-vote.com{/url]
If a voter shows up at the polling place and is not on the voting list or does not have the correct form of identification, he or she may cast a provisional ballot (assuming they don't run out). After the election, the lawyers will wrangle about these, with each side trying to disqualify as many ballots as they can from precincts that harbor too many of the other guy's voters. Ohio has a troubled history on this score and most experts expect this year to be no exception.
The battles could end up in the courts again, revolving about issues like which precinct people whose house has been foreclosed should vote in (where the house is or where the homeless center they are now in is), etc. Also, what happens to someone whose name on the voter rolls doesn't match the name in the drivers' license data base (possibly due to a clerical error)? Both sides have thousands of lawyers already chartered to fight these cases in court. It is even conceivable that the Supreme Court makes a key decision again, as in 2000, and Obama doesn't accept it (as Gore did). There is one level appeal above the Supreme Court: Congress. The new Congress will be sworn on on January 5, 2009 and will count the electoral votes on January 6, 2009. If one or more members of both the House and Senate object to the electoral votes from some state claiming the election there was tainted, Congress will debate the matter. Ultimately, it could vote (with each member having one vote) to disqualify a state because the members do not believe the election there was run correctly. If no candidate gets 270 electoral votes after any disqualifications, then the House would elect the President, with each state getting one vote. It would be messy and controversial, but having 435 newly elected representatives elect the President would be a lot less controversial than having 9 appointed Supreme Court justices do the job. In some countries, the leader of the largest party in the lower house of parliament becomes Prime Minister, so the idea of the legislature choosing the executive is quite common. For an example where there was a dispute over the electoral votes, see this article on the 1876 election.
-
wishful thinking...Obama's gonna get well over 270 electoral votes. And then we can all pray for the demise of McSame and Palin. God I hope their lives really turn downward and their families have hardship the rest of their unnatural lives; so remember The Road To Hell Is Paved With Republicans!
-
This election will have stunts pulled. I was listening to last week's Bill Maher on my Ipod last nigh and they brought up the Provisional Ballot problem. I am sure all you are in cities that need poll watchers. Make a difference and go poll watch or go take calls from disgruntled voters. Tim Robbins pointed out that taking a video camera with you when you vote was not a bad idea. He is right.
Allen Raymond, look the name up, has a revised book out about "How to Rig and Election". He knows, he was convicted of that. So it is not over until it is over. It is unfortunate, but true. I am not a McSame person. Palin works my last nerve. I have worked elections, and have seen the crap pulled. I am sitting this one out probably. I am too tired of dirty politics to work this one.
Yes, i will be at an Election Party that night hoping for change, but I won't sleep until I know what the ending is. The last two elections were decided by news anchors between 11:30 and 1:30 a.m. EST. So there you have it. If you want real change call your local democratic party and see what you can do on election day. Do it if you want change. They are trying to get people to poll watch and that is an important job.
