Set up google news alerts for terms like guantanimo bay, detainee torture, etc. and then write to the editors of every newspaper that covers these stories about the similarities between detainee torture and your own program.

1. We admitted we were powerless over stopping all programs - that our lives had become unmanageable in the attempt.
2. Came to believe that a Power greater than ourselves could restore our hope and sanity - thy name be Obama.
3. Made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of Obama, as we understood Him.
4. Made a searching and fearless moral inventory of ourselves and our attempts to end abusive programs.
5. Admitted to Obama, to ourselves and to another human being the exact nature of our wrongs, and our mistakes in strategy.
6. Were entirely ready to have Obama remove all these defects of character. Vote for Obama.
7. Humbly asked Him to remove our shortcomings. Donate $20 helps him do this quicker.
8. Made a list of all persons we had harmed, and became willing to make amends to them all even if it means intruding on their life and they have no reason to want to see you.
9. Made direct amends to such people wherever possible, except when to do so would injure them or others. But you should do it anyways.
10. Continued to take personal inventory and when we were wrong promptly admitted it. Obama knows when you are lying to Him.
11. Sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with Obama as we understood Him, praying only for knowledge of His will for us and the power to carry that out. Obama supports your efforts to keep kids safe.
12. Having had a spiritual awakening as the result of these steps, we tried to carry this message to programs and to practice these principles in all our affairs. Trying is not good enough though. If you cannot put programs out of business then you should just go drink yourself silly and try to forget about it.

The more programs the better.

I propose that once you have created a website for every program known to mankind - 2 recovery programs should be created for the people visiting these new websites.

These recovery programs will help website visitors recognize that without the recovery program they would find themselves in a local jail cell and dead.

I don't follow.  I was suggesting creating websites like mine on Benchmark, to counter the official version.

Very good idea. Already proven effective by your Benchmark site, at least by my testimony. What about some sort of basic interview/news teams comprised of fornits (or otherwise interested) peoples living in states near a particular facility? Through networking interested parties can ask for locals to inquire on a particular facility and report back based on their first hand inquiries, or failures in attempt to contact a facility if that is the result. Is that possible?

What if a larger `cult monitoring and networking` corporation could act as a binder for the already numerous small websites seeking to focus on a particular aspect of cults. (i.e. religious, TBS, etc etc). If such a network/corporate entity existed it could provide a large name to stand behind for all the divided smaller interests. Not that fornits doesn't do a good job at that already.... just suggesting perhaps there could be a broader unity.

Otherwise the best idea is a website for every facility. I think that would have the most effect w/ least effort.

How is the peninsulavillageexposed.com site coming along? I also have promised to get a URL for AARC, but I'm waiting for someone to reply to an email I sent them asking if they can keep an AARC blog updated. I don't like the idea of having the link sitting stagnant with outdated posts on it. Monthly updates of some sort if possible to show activity is a big one if I plan to shell out what few pesos I have to my name.

Well now! If anybody wants to buy the domain names, hosting is free. We have ungodly amounts of disk space and bandwidth. Even without a seperate domain we can set up unlimited vanity domains (i.e. peninsulavillage.fornits.com)

There is an international support group for people who have become dependent on stepcraft. It's called AnonAnon and has a website at http://fornits.com/anonanon/ (http://fornits.com/anonanon/)

DDF and a few friends are making noise about doing a Fornits podcast. Some ideas are the obvious; program vet interviews, other sorts of things. The Fornits management people are talking to Trekker Jag's people, so we'll have a satiric segment to throw in there from time to time.

We have a blog to tie it all together, anyone interested in blogging on Fornits just contact me or Psy.

We need a couple of things. We need some sort of at least semi-formal organization, though I'm not so sure I want to go so far as to set up a legal entity. Maybe we need some good business/legal advice about that? We'll need sponsors and promotion; mostly the free, guerrilla marketing variety.

Oh yeah! And we have the wiki for encyclopedic documentation on all of them. Anybody who wants to put the time in can talk to Carsten about editing and/or adding articles.

I'm figuring out the Reamweaver program to mirror PV' s website.  It should be tasty, but I guess we can post something in the meantime.

*screech*...

Ok.  a few things.  Mirroring the "look and feel" of PV's official website...  Don't do it.  If you need me to design something, I can do that.  Also, there will need to be a prominent disclaimer stating that your site is not endorsed by or associated with PV.  This is necessary to avoid getting your site's domain taken away in a domain dispute on trademark grounds. <-- not legal advice, but do eeet anyway.

We need an all out balls out link farm, damn it! A jump page like what AnonAnon started out to be. What would be the best way to approach it? How about a wiki article (if there's not one already) on all known industry critical websites? and links to that in various places?

It's a pretty easy choice considering that there are only 2 candidates to choose from! I personally didn't vote for either one of these guys in the primaries. But, now I have no choice! So, I have decided to choose the one who doesn't hang out with the likes of Bill Ayers, and Reverend Wright.

There are plenty of other reasons why Mc Cain is getting my vote. However, I figure this isn't really a board that deals with politics. Especially when most people around here get their news from the liberal media.

I support Ron Paul because he is the only candidate who has views that are in line with mine.

Ron Paul is okay and I was initially leaning towards Obama even before he threw his hat in.  But you peel away some of the polish and great orating skills he seems kind of desperate now and starting to show his true colors with all the mudslinging and anger towards woman (especially Hillary and Palin) is a mistake.  I was hoping he would stick to the issues more and respect all the voters, not just the bleeding hearts.
I don’t think he is ready to lead yet, maybe in 4 years.  Besides McCain is looking better every day and I like that Palin will be focused on special needs kids and services for children. I would like to see the kids get an advocate, for a change, in this next election.

TheWho is an Internet Troll

What is an Internet Troll?

An Internet "troll" is a person who delights in sowing discord on the Internet. He (and it is usually he) tries to start arguments and upset people.

Trolls see Internet communications services as convenient venues for their bizarre game. For some reason, they don't "get" that they are hurting real people. To them, other Internet users are not quite human but are a kind of digital abstraction. As a result, they feel no sorrow whatsoever for the pain they inflict. Indeed, the greater the suffering they cause, the greater their 'achievement' (as they see it). At the moment, the relative anonymity of the net allows trolls to flourish.

Trolls are utterly impervious to criticism (constructive or otherwise). You cannot negotiate with them; you cannot cause them to feel shame or compassion; you cannot reason with them. They cannot be made to feel remorse. For some reason, trolls do not feel they are bound by the rules of courtesy or social responsibility.

Why does it Matter?

Some people -- particularly those who have been online for years -- are not upset by trolls and consider them an inevitable hazard of using the net. As the saying goes, "You can't have a picnic without ants."

It would be nice if everybody was so easy-going, but the sad fact is that trolls do discourage people. Established posters may leave a message board because of the arguments that trolls ignite, and lurkers (people who read but do not post) may decide that they do not want to expose themselves to abuse and thus never get involved.

Another problem is that the negative emotions stirred up by trolls leak over into other discussions. Normally affable people can become bitter after reading an angry interchange between a troll and his victims, and this can poison previously friendly interactions between long-time users.

Finally, trolls create a paranoid environment, such that a casual criticism by a new arrival can elicit a ferocious and inappropriate backlash.

The Internet is a wonderful resource which is breaking down barriers and stripping away prejudice. Trolls threaten our continued enjoyment of this beautiful forum for ideas.

Like negativity towards “all” programs.  Trolls try to force their opinion on readers who are typically open minded and try to convince them that all programs are the same.  They pretend to know about programs they have never heard of before.

Quote

I agree 100% here.  You see that alot here on fornits.  Many trolls try to convince or scare readers into believing that all programs are evil and your kids would be harmed if you send them away for help and that they would be better off living in the streets.

Quote

Exactly, so it is important to keep an open mind and gain as much information and perspective as you can.  Read here on fornits, talk to other parents who have had kids experience programs and visit and speak with as many schools and professionals as possible before making your decision.  Dont base it on a few posters on the internet.  Speak to professionals first.

Why is it that I am labelled as a troll?  I am one of the few people here that is willing to debate the issues and add balance to the discussion.  Why would you rather have a closed room full of people who just agree with each other day-in and day-out with no outside interaction or injection of new ideas/points of view?  Seems the posters who are rude, use foul language, post pornography and/or closed minded are typically approached for moderator positions.

Yeah....."she" is the one who has supposedly energized the base.  Look at the polls before and after.  All those midwest housewives (daytime TV watching morons that they are) are all excited about her and, unfortunately, they seem to vote in greater numbers than sane people.

A few points about Palin.....

--  Palin hired a lobbyist (ya know.....like 75% of McCain's campaign staff are, but they're the anti-lobby party, right?) while mayor of Wasilla, AK to secure 27 million dollars in Federal money for her town of 7,000 people.

--  Palin's hubby was a member of the Alaska Independence Party, who's main slogan is "Alaska First" and wants to secede from the Union.  So much for Country First, huh?

--  Palin supported the bridge to nowhere during her 06 gubernatorial candidacy, abandoned the project after intense public outrage, and took the 230+ mil. from the federal government anyway and spent it on other things.

--  Alaska continues to be the highest per capital recipient of federal earmarks.

--  Time reported last week, for example, that Palin asked the Wasilla librarian, Mary Ellen Baker, about the process for banning books. Baker was reportedly "aghast" at the question. Soon after taking office, Palin, according to a New York Times report, fired Baker, and news reports from the time indicate that Palin thought Baker hadn't done enough to give her "full support" to the mayor.

Palin reversed course on Baker's dismissal after a local outcry, and later said the discussions about banning books were "rhetorical."

And should we even get into her stance on abstinence only education in schools?  I about fell out of my chair when I heard her say how proud she was of Bristol's "decision" to keep the baby.  Decision?  I think not, but even if Mommy Dearest DID let Bristol make that, ahem, decision.....why does she want to take that right away from everyone else?  I don't care that her daughter is preggo at 17.  Hell, lotsa kids make stupid mistakes.  What I DO have a problem with is the extreme hypocrisy of this "family values" platform.

Just making sure...I knew we couldn't be talking about Hillary...lol.

I didn't know about the 27 million. Otoh, I don't have a problem with states seceding from the union. Fuck the union, I say. Maybe Alaska should get those earmarks; who the hell wants to live up there otherwise? LOL.

However, that stuff about banning books is quite disturbing, I'd like to know more about that...(like which books, etc.)

As a 3-time 'abortionist,' I can't say I fully approve of that platform. (If I had had kids in those situations it would have been fucked up to say the least.) But a good argument is made for nurturing the foetus and giving it up for adoption instead of sucking it out like a cancer.....I dunno....

Then on the other hand, Obama ain't all that, either... color me undecided.

(Anyway, isn't this political discussion on the wrong fucking forum?)  :D

I'd also like to add (in lieu of editing my post) that McCain's statements concerning 'washboarding' are fucked up, especially considering he himself went through the years of torture that he did as a POW. You'd think he wouldn't approve of something like that. Wtf?? Has he commented further on this?

Yeah, me neither.  Except when she's running around talking about how she's rallied AGAINST earmarks.  Except when she still repeats the same lie that she said no to the 'bridge to nowhere'.  Again, it's more the hypocrisy of the both of them.  Now they're the candidates of change??  Now??

However, that stuff about banning books is quite disturbing, I'd like to know more about that...(like which books, etc.)

At some point in those fractious first days, Palin told the department heads they needed her permission to talk to reporters. "She put a gag order on those people, something that you'd expect to find in the big city, not here," says Naegele. "She flew in there like a big-city gal, which she's not. It was a strange time, and [the Frontiersman] came out very harshly against her."

Stein says that as mayor, Palin continued to inject religious beliefs into her policy at times. "She asked the library how she could go about banning books," he says, because some voters thought they had inappropriate language in them. "The librarian was aghast." That woman, Mary Ellen Baker, couldn't be reached for comment, but news reports from the time show that Palin had threatened to fire Baker for not giving "full support" to the mayor.

As a 3-time 'abortionist,' I can't say I fully approve of that platform. (If I had had kids in those situations it would have been fucked up to say the least.) But a good argument is made for nurturing the foetus and giving it up for adoption instead of sucking it out like a cancer.....I dunno....

I hear ya there too, but she wants it banned even in cases of rape and incest.

Then on the other hand, Obama ain't all that, either... color me undecided.

Just inexperienced. But that's why he picked Biden.

Wasilla Paper: Under Mayor Palin, Rape Victims Charged for Own Forensic Tests

An interesting catch by the folks over at AMERICAblog. They found an article from the Wasilla newspaper dated May 23, 2000, that notes the city of Wasilla was one of a few Alaskan municipalities that charged women claiming to have been raped for their own forensic tests. As you probably know by now, Sarah Palin was mayor of Wasilla from 1996-2002.

[Governor Tony Knowles] signed House Bill 270... The new law makes it illegal for any law enforcement agency to bill victims or victims insurance companies for the costs of examinations that take place to collect evidence of a sexual assault or determine if a sexual assault did occur...

While the Alaska State Troopers and most municipal police agencies have covered the cost of exams, which cost between $300 to $1,200 apiece, the Wasilla police department does charge the victims of sexual assault for the tests.

Wasilla Police Chief Charlie Fannon does not agree with the new legislation, saying the law will require the city and communities to come up with more funds to cover the costs of the forensic exams.

"In the past we've charged the cost of exams to the victims insurance company when possible. I just don't want to see any more burden put on the taxpayer," Fannon said.

In the article, Fannon admits that halting the practice of charging alleged rape victims for their own tests would cost the city... wait for it... $5,000 to $14,000 a year.

You could put door hangers on all the houses around a program informing them of the torture going on near them.

You could go on a hunger strike near a program, and hope the media takes the bait and comes and interviews you for the local news.

You can write a book, like a full length novel type of thing. Many pro program people have done this.

You can get a tattoo on your forearm of a random number - or maybe you were assigned a number in the program which is better. Then when people ask what that is, tell them you received it in the concentration camp. It will elicit more questions from them and is a good conversation starter.

You can go hold FORNITS.com signs behind the Today show people and hope it gets on the air and more people visit this site.

You could write letters to staff and owners and ask them to stop working there or close altogether. Not sure that would work though.

You could find out what church the staff and owners belong to and join it and talk to the other members about the abuse you endured at the hands of the other person.

You can pray that a supernatural force will intervene and help.

Thats it for now but I have more late.r

Sorry, but we're bored of this. It's you humans who keep doing this shit to your own children. Why should we care? Reality-bending, instant psychological blasts, and the occasional life ruination can only go so far, anyway.

Do NOT do any of the following things.  It would be WRONG to do them, and possibly bring  some fucked-up complications into your life:

 THINGS WE MUST NEVER DO
-----------------------

"DON'T walk up to Virgil as he's walking up the courthouse steps,
say "Remember me, asshole?" and shoot him several times with a .45

DON'T break into the homes of former Straight, Inc. executives, bind
them with hemp fiber, and spray them with pepper spray before
igniting the whole place.

DON'T kidnap some lame-ass ex-Catholic priest who still works in the
drug-treatment industry, dose him with 500+ mcgs of LSD, and subject
him to a confrontation "marathon" where his fingernails are removed
with rusty pliers.

DON'T castrate some fucked up ex-Group Staff Supervisor, using a
rusty razorblade and no anaesthetic, leaving him to wallow in pain
and shock as you repeatedly kick him in the head.

DON'T spray lighter fluid all over an ex-Straight, Inc. Executive who
has started her own spin-off program, light it, and say "Tell me
about your feelings, bitch!" as you do multiple shots of 151,
spitting out every other one on her.

DON'T use a Taser on an ex-Executive Staff member who now works as an
educator right before you cover his head with a sack containing rabid
weasels."

This would be great, but,I would try to use adult language on the hangers.  Avoid words like, kiddie prisons, gulags, duck farm, brain washing and torture or they will realize it is just disgruntled high school kids and will use it to wrap their fish.

Totally agree.  With any writing, one must always consider the audience.  In this case, it would probably be wise to anticipate the program's response to the allegations and counter the expected excuses in advance.  In other words, make the handouts as factually waterproof as possible...  reduce the chances of programs to distort things by saying "oh that's not true", or "well it's really like this".

Definition: Torture

the deliberate, systematic, or wanton infliction of physical or mental suffering by one or more persons in an attempt to force another person to yield information or to make a confession or for any other reason; "it required unnatural torturing to extract a confession"
wordnet.princeton.edu/perl/webwn

It seems like an accurate word to use in this situation. When looking at the deifnition of "abuse" there is no mention of a purpose to the abuse, it refers to mistreatment but not a specific reason why it is occuring.

Yes, brainwashing and torture certainly are applicable terms when speaking of most of these places we speak of here, absolutely.

Ok.  Did that.  Now what?

WE use those terms because they are accurate descriptions of what we went through and what most of the kids still locked up are going through.  YOU use them sarcastically as a dig towards those of us who know what torture is and how it feels to be locked up inside these places.

So, in closing............kindly fuck off.
