Title: Getting Stupid
Post by: ajax13 on August 10, 2008, 05:51:55 PM
Sobriety is a hypothetical construct, an abstract quality.  All About Receiving Cash ignores the complicated nature of such an abstract, and offers pseudo-scientific observations based on an undefined concept of this construct.  85% of the study group from their 2005 study was deemed to be sober with no explanation as to what this entailed.

I don't understand it either.

Ajax13 disclaimer:

Warning!! He is a confirmed liar.  He has no experience with AARC and is stuck taking care of his wife who has major substance abuse issues.  So he comes on fornits to vent his anger towards places which rehabilitate because he wishes his wife had taken her chance more seriously but seems more inclined to blame others for his situation.
If you review the study AARC has one of the highest success rates of the top 5 programs:

85% of the grads are clean and sober after 4 years and
93% are clean and sober after their first 12 months after graduating.

I don't know what they mean by sobriety either.  All I could discern from AARC's study was that 52% of the sample population had returned to using alcohol or other drugs after graduating AARC.  It's hard to say what that even means, since some of the individuals in the study group had only left AARC within the year, whereas others had been out for five years.  Even stranger that information was included pertaining to many of the individuals who made up the 15% who did not even take part in the study.

What I'm laughing at is "longest period of continuous sobriety". Do you have any idea what that means?

This means if someone was absolutely smashed for six straight months after being released from AARC, managed to stay sober for a year, then fell off the fucking wagon and is blown out of his mind on vodka and PCP, he was sober a year, so THAT COUNTS as far as this "study" is concerned.[/;quote]
