If anyone has issues with nightmares, try paxil. It really, really helps. You'll still get nightmares, but they'll be less scary to want to sleep sort. Yep, paxil.
Also, is it weird to P/M people here, or does everyone like to stay anon?

Some people here always post anon, so it would be hard to PM them, but other's don't, and although many of those wouldn't respond to PMs from complete strangers, some might. You never know until you try.

Or you could just kill yourself, and do society a favor. You're on meds? Kill yourself, do it now.

Paxil is a Nightmare, try detoxing off of it after a few years...Brain Zaps Galore!
I know, I ran out of paxil once...I had serious withdrawal symptoms. lesser evils, i guess

Good lord, suggesting suicide. That is way over the line. Quit that.
I'm glad "nightmare" is enjoying better sleep. However, I am also familiar with reports of serious side effects from Paxil, including memory problems and difficulty going off it. Sorry to sound like an old auntie, but adding or discontinuing any medication should only be done in consultation with a doctor.
Re the troubled teen industry, Deborah's thread called Children Made to Order (http://fornits.com/smf/index.php?topic=23420.0 (http://http://fornits.com/smf/index.php?topic=23420.0)) provides a good perspective on concerns that children with learning disorders, depression and other difficulties are being given strong psychotropic drugs at very young ages, and in multi-drug "cocktails," without clear evidence of the risks and effects. Paxil is often prescribed, for example, to address the symptoms of depression that result from taking Ridalin for ADD. Then the memory problems from Paxil are treated with another driug, and so forth. The cocktail of drugs can mask the child's underlying symptoms as well as any improvement that might be occurring as he or she ages.

yeah, I know all that. But at 17, I'm not really a child anymore, so maybe that doesn't apply as much anymore? It definitely doesn't make my life better, it just makes me feel less bad about a shitty life--at night anyway. Maybe go off it?

I trust that you will use good judgment and rely on your own experience about what works for you and what doesn't.
It is important to be your own strongest advocate regarding health decisions. Asking questions until you have satisfactory answers is one way to advocate for yourself.
You might have a conversation with your prescribing physician and ask specifically about the known concerns about Paxil. Go there with a written list of questions. You might ask "What else might work?"and "What happens if I go off Paxil?", as examples.
I don't know you, op, so you should take what you want and leave the rest of what I have to say.
I'm concerned for your "shitty life," and your nightmares--so sorry to hear that, how horrifying. And I hope you find a way--meds or no meds--to sleep well and be happy.

Jabberwocky
by Lewis Carroll (Charles L. Dodgson)
From Through the Looking-Glass, 1871
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
'Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe:
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.
"Beware the Jabberwock, my son!
The jaws that bite, the claws that catch!
Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun
The frumious Bandersnatch!"
He took his vorpal sword in hand:
Long time the manxome foe he sought--
So rested he by the Tumtum tree,
And stood awhile in thought.
And, as in uffish thought he stood,
The Jabberwock, with eyes of flame,
Came whiffling through the tulgey wood,
And burbled as it came!
One two! One two! And through and through
The vorpal blade went snicker-snack!
He left it dead, and with its head
He went galumphing back.
"And hast thou slain the Jabberwock?
Come to my arms, my beamish boy!
O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!"
He chortled in his joy.
'Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe:
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.

bullshit. anti-d's have a different affect on everyone. I was on paxil and through my run of that med I had terrible stress dreams and nightmares. Whether it was related or not to the medication is unknown.
However, effexor gave me amazingly awesome, epic, trippy assed dreams. (same for my friend, too) That's the one thing I miss about being on that medication. I had dreams that were worthy of being made into film.
Not enforcing effexor... just saying.

Anyone else wonder why the porn surfaces when Sue topics surface? I am begining to think it is some how Sue's way of derailing topics and questions about her.
I have noticed this as well and, IMO, it is not a coincidence. Unfortunately, Sue knows that the anonymity of this forum even applies to her and takes full advantage of it. I can't imagine how frustrating it must be for Psy to know this to be true and still not be able to say anything about it.
Spin doctoring? The one of you? Why? It wasn't a topic responsible for the porn, it was gookins bitchy, pissy arrival.
How come when sue scheff was posting the blogs about Joyce Harris
Hates sue's guts, wrote a sworn statement for ISAC, and generally has been a thorn in Sue's side.
Psy
Google Sue Scheff.

All in all, he hasn't done much to Sue that has actually affected her that much.
She knew his name, his picture was up and as an ex or current program employee he should have been an easy mark. Remember all the lesbian stuff and threats he posted? She didn't seem to care.
I heard from the grape vine that she is fond of blaming those types of things on "somebody" else. (Why place blame on somebody who isn't harming her when she could make her critics look juvenile by blaming his antics on other critics who do affect her... It's not necessary to attack him. He provides her with "evidence" she can hypothetically scatter around at will to steriotype her critics (Not that it's his fault. I somehow suspect that if he didn't make it, she would create some.). You want to see a gigantic example of a similar type of switcheround that goes on with sue? check this out (http://http://bocaraton.com/index.aspx?pid=1089).)
I suspect, though, that somebody's motive in posting porn here is to discredit Che, not with the public, but with the forum members here. It's a simple strategy: When Che shows up, post porn all over, following up with pictures of Zen's daughter and so forth. It will get blamed on Che (because he might have done it once) and the resulting conflict will result in forum chaos, drama, and general "lulz" for whoever is posting the porn. But what is the ultimate motive here? It's to divide us, drive others off, and make it seem (even to us forum regulars) as if nothing can or ever will get done here. It's a diversionary tactic. A distraction. A way to destroy this forum and ultimately... we let it happen. It isn't Che. It isn't Sue. It's us. it's our response. It's the forum regulars who take the bait and respond to it by feeding the drama. Without that, the tactic is useless.
One of my badass lawyers explained it to me like this: It's like you're a heat seaking missile heading towards a plane, and they drop chaff (metal confetti) to distract you. You can chase after the multitude of what you think is important... what they want you to go after... the emotional, the personal attacks, the irrelevant, etc... but you're going to ultimately miss your target... and that is what they want. What they fear is you addressing the issues.
I'm not saying i'm not guilty of participating in the distraction, chasing after the irrelevant... Far from it. I've contributed my share towards the response that somebody would have wanted, but... now that I realize it's just a distraction.. that i'm giving them what they want. I'm going to do my best to ignore it, and I hope others will do the same. Petty arguing, bitching, distraction, insults, etc... All of it avoids the central issues here that NEED to be dealt with and addressed if there is to be any hope of getting down to the the business of organizing and fighting this industry effectively.
