AAAHHH Yesss, standing infront of the house, scared shitless wondering what the fuck this even meant then having to pick out something that applied to you & your situation.
It was not at all terrifying now was it?
I remember one girls "speech" about wanting to change her life & do good & this was her second chance at life (she was all of 14) I remember thinking "oh brother! here we fucking go"
After Elan she became a stripper & a biker whore. Nice.

Hi All

About nine years or so after I got out of the elan , I came across the 'Desiderata" which means all things desired. I found it to be a really very good philosophy and comforting way on could look at or live their life.. It is simple and direct and full of compassion for the individual.

Very ,very different from elan's philosophy.

The last line of it is  "Be cheerful. Strive to be happy. It was written by  gentleman  in the mid 1900's . It can be found on the web   desiderata.com.

A much more humane outlook on life than elans philosophy, don't you think.

peace

Matt

Hey Felice ,

I thank you for finding this. It is a saner philosophy about all things desired in life. Seems a lot better than the old elan program crap, or any crap for that matter.

Thought it should go back to the top in case some folks had missed it.

Peace

Matt
