"The Cleaner," inspired by the true story of a real-life "extreme interventionist," stars Benjamin Bratt as William "The Cleaner" Banks, who, after hitting rock-bottom from his own addictions after the birth of his daughter, strikes a tentative deal with God. Now along with his unconventional team, he helps people get away from their addictions by any means necessary.
Now I assume that means kidnapping.. er.. transporting, among other things.

This is the clip that will really give you a taste of how abhorrent this is.

Yes, they are showing the "team" drugging, kidnapping, and imprisoning people in a "safe house" for the purpose of "cleaning" them of their addictions. As if this was any solution to addiction at all, and not just lawless thuggery made into drama.

It claims to be based on a real life story of the main charachter (a guy the actor calls a "hero", "saving lives" every single day). I don't think I have to do much to convince people around here that it is likely to be actually based on a true story (with, omissions and embellishments a plenty, i'm sure).
IMO, this series, and the person it's based on, deserve further investigation.

Anti program agitators and activists have barely made a dent in the practice of abusive programs! Why are you now confident enough to expand your efforts to 'investigate' a TV drama that vaguely resembles one aspect of a specific type of program? What do you think the result will be of this investigation?

and i thought intervention was sickening.....
this just takes it to a whole new level. they dont even try to hide it this time around......

It’s fiction and a Television series on top of it and it makes for a larger audience to say it is based on a true story. I am sure there is someone out there that does this, there always is, but the show needs to be sensational and shocking in order to make it as a series. Everytime you turn on the television you are being exposed to a show trying to hold your interest long enough so that you will view the commercials. If it is a premium channel then you have already paid up front. Remember they are all actors.
Just like Brat Camp, they need to show lots of energy and confrontation in order to survive the season. There was very little footage of the kids sitting around getting along because people would change the channel.
