Title: RESOURCES?
Post by: Anonymous on July 15, 2003, 05:59:00 PM
This forum says it's RESOURCES for boarding schools, residential treatment, etc.  So where are the resources? All I'm reading are a bunch of posts that sound to me like parents just need to let their kid control them, do what they want to do and to hell with getting help.  Or, do you have suggestions on how to all of a sudden "change" their teen? The teen has to want to change and to find help is hard enough without having "poor me" ex-students or co-dependent parents spewing garbage - You all sound like victims of your own making - I need real help - me AND my kid - and this is obviously not the place to find it. Sorry I dropped in.  I think I'll call WWASPS now!  They've got to have the best program or there wouldn't be so much negative press.  Bye now.

If that actually is a parent and not some 13 year old kid, it shows how careless some parents really are.

Correct this isn't the place to go for help but moreover the place where you learn where NOT to go for help.  My best wishes to you and yours but it would be wise to listen to those that have been there.  Just an opinion.

>>This forum says it's RESOURCES for boarding schools, residential treatment, etc. So where are the resources?

I've been here a while and can't ever recall this message board being promoted as or refered to as a "resource" for BSs and RTCs...EVER.

>>>The teen has to want to change and to find help is hard enough without having "poor me" ex-students or co-dependent parents spewing garbage -You all sound like victims of your own making - I need real help - me AND my kid - and this is obviously not the place to find it.

Intuition tells me that you are not a troubled parent fresh on the trail, seeking a place to dump your kid. Just another lying program groupie.

>>>Sorry I dropped in. I think I'll call WWASPS now! They've got to have the best program or there wouldn't be so much negative press. Bye now.

That's really brilliant. How long did it take you to compose it? I have an image of you WWASPers working overtime- collaborating on how to respond to anything that isn't supportive of the cult. Who's co-dependent?

I understand, some adults just aren't ready to take responsibility for themselves or their offspring, yet demand that their child "grow up" and "act mature".... go figure???

Also, you were arrogantly critical of ex-students. When people are wronged they can be pretty harsh and angry for a while. What's your excuse? I can't imagine that you were so disappointed this board wasn't what you were looking for.... that you would take the time to let us all know how sick you think we are and how disappointed you were. Get real. Go pay someone to listen to your disappointments.

My intuition is usually on target. But, on the outside chance you are for real-

Here's a Resource for you. This woman owned the Montessori School my sons attended. She has written a book entitled, "Children Who Are Not Yet Peaceful".

Excerpt
Quentin: Girls and Boys Can Too Be Best Friends

Quentin streaked into the classroom mid-paragraph, his words tumbling over each other, his manic enthusiasm edged in hostility and his overreaching intelligence ragged with frustration. Nothing he could do or produce suited him, and it had to be somebody's fault. He ran, leapt into the air to swipe at anything above his head, and slid to a stop at his destination. The children avoided him warily, preferring to fade away from the vicinity of his approach rather than wait and see what might develop. They begged not to have to sit next to him.

"Destroy" was Quentin's motto. He knew everyone hated him, so he hated them first. But mostly he hated himself. He screamed his hatred at everyone, vowing to kill them, me, and himself and to destroy the entire universe. His mother had brought him to our primary school when he was four from one that had demanded he be medicated with Ritalin. It was certainly a demand we could understand, one that had its appeal, but nonetheless one we firmly resisted. Integrating Quentin into the class would take time, energy, dedication, skill, intuition, and a lot of luck.

No wait! There are far better options according to your criteria. Usama Bin Laden is said to be a brutal mentor. He's accused of all kinds of messed up stuff. And, he doesn't charge a dime for his services! They're all supported by donations, grants, allowance from his dad and the business interestes operated by his followers.

Charles Manson might be coming up for parol again soon. Who knows? Maybe with your endorsement, he'll get out this time. Never lose hope!

Come to think of it, a lot of law enforcement agencies publish lists of convicted child molesters, complete with photos and last known address. What a convenience, eh? Just look up child predators on the net, find one near you and tell your kid he's going to meet his long lost, though well beloved, uncle Chester!

BTW, this forum says it's "Resources for people considering specialty schools, boot camps or wilderness therapy for their kids."

The resources that I offer are hosting and technical support for these uncensored forums. People who post here offer the benefit of their own experience. Don't be so ungrateful.

When a man you like switches from what he said a year ago, or four years ago, he is a broad-minded person who has courage enough to change his mind with changing conditions. When a man you don't like does it, he is a liar who has broken his promise.
