There is a story in the Washington Post today about a woman who has been charged with murdering her four daughters (ages 5, 6, 11 and 17) because they were "possessed" http://http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/01/10/AR2008011001174.html?wpisrc=newsletter. (How dare you question my choices as a parent! Don't you care about their emotional growth?)
Gee, she needs a better Education Consultant, don't you think? She could have sent them all off to a therapeutic boarding school for legal incarceration for a mere $800,000, instead of facing life in prision.
Forgive my dripping sarcasm...Seriously, this very sad story, and perhaps most shocking is that the girls were missing for up to seven months without the family, neighbors or authorities insisting the girls be located. Our society has got to do better than this.

The mother was very obviously mentally ill, very much psychotic - & there does need to be a better way than all this.

1. Clearly Religious institutions are in no way shape or form at fault. They don't make up absurd cartoon stories and shove them down their congregations throats and in the same breath ask for $.
2. She obviously should have been attending EST meetings and Lifespring workshops on a weekly basis.
3. The poor don't deserve help. Emotional growth and personal development are only for the wealthy.

The harsh reality is that you are right!! If she did seek outside help the kids would all be alive today.

Yeah for her.
Not her kids.
