ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) -- Authorities say a St. Petersburg councilman apparently committed suicide Friday.
John Bryan's death came hours after he resigned amid allegations he sexually abused two teenage girls and a woman.
A reporter for the St. Petersburg Times found Bryan slumped in a golf cart in the garage of a Floral City home he owns.
Paramedics were called and pronounced Bryan dead.
A riding mower with its motor running was in the garage.
Two nearby four-wheelers also appeared to be running but were out of gas when police arrived.
Authorities found a suicide note in the house.
Earlier in the day at a hearing, Bryan acknowledged having a sexual relationship with a young woman but said it was consensual and she was 18.

No warm memories
As yet another of the "family values" crowd turns out to be anything but a paragon of virtue, it is shameful that his political allies and your newspaper would have the audacity to say this man will be "warmly remembered."
I for one shall not "warmly remember" this man. Instead I shall pray for the survivors of his crimes.

The Councilman who was supported by Mel Sembler and Charlie Crist had sexual contact with at least one of his daugthers.
Rumors had been around for years until it was reported to the state DCF hotline last week and a full scale investigation began.
