Title: Even after release, this kid's not safe
Post by: exhausted on September 05, 2007, 02:31:26 PM
A 38-year-old counselor from a group home for troubled youths has been arrested on rape and other charges in connection with his actions involving a 16-year-old former resident of the home, Town of Tonawanda police said.

David Clayton, of Northview Drive in Lockport, a counselor at Wyndham Lawn, was charged with third-degree rape, criminal sexual act and endangering the welfare of a child, according to police.

The investigation began early today, after Officer John Oddo stopped Clayton's vehicle on traffic charges after it had left a Niagara Falls Boulevard motel at about 2:55 a.m. Police later learned that his 16-year-old passenger had been discharged from the facility last month.

Further investigation, police said, led to the criminal charges against Clayton

"We are shocked and extremely concerned that a member of our staff has been charged in connection with his actions involving a child," the Wyndham Lawn statement said.

Why so shocked? It happens all the time!!

TOWN OF TONAWANDA — A 38-year-old Lockport man is being held on $500,000 bail after being arrested leaving a Town of Tonawanda motel with a 16-year-old girl, according to police reports.

David Clayton of Northview Drive in Lockport was charged with third-degree rape, third-degree criminal sexual act and endangering the welfare of a child just before 3 a.m. Tuesday.

The arrest resulted from a traffic stop initiated after Clayton’s car left the Royal Inn, located in an area known for illegal activity, said Town of Tonawanda Police Lt. Nick Bado.

The relevancy of the posting is that kids aren't safe from programs even after they get out.

Try to keep up.

NOT only that aspect BUT...
IF the kid is lucky enough to get out early...
many times there's a "credit" that wasn't used..

Who's to say that the child can't be sent to a different wwasp facility to use this credit???   We had an attorney that just specified NOT Tranquility Bay... and in our STUPIDITY... had to worry about that after the fact of the court hearing..........

Most people, in day to day life, just don't believe this crap goes on in the real world.

Just something to think about...

The thing I found most alarming when I came across this, is when I sat down and thought about what this lad had been subjected to - did he agree to go along with it because it became a normal thing to do for him? Both in terms of doing what a councelor tells him to do no matter what or that he'd been abused over the years and didn't even suspect it to be wrong.

I'm going with this theory because of his age and the fact he didn't have to have anything to do with his assailant, he'd already left the system....how many others just accept this as a way of life, the norm?

There is the chance of course that he is gay anyway (maybe why he was sent there in the 1st place?) and was having a relationship with the man, but there is a lack of hs parent's speaking out here, wouldn't every parent be speaking to the pres going absolutely balistic? making sure it never happens to another kid?

But, I think your theory is still valid.
