Background you say? OK, here's a general summary background...
1993, PFC was spawned from STRAIGHT, Inc. in Detroit. They quickly opened up another shop in Indianapolis IN. In 2006, PFC acquired the KHK program (STRAIGHT, MIDWEST) in Milford which is the one that is currently using the old STRAIGHT, Inc. Cincinnati building.
January 2007, the Northwest Indiana (NWI) Times published a 3 part series of articles about how PFC is using STRAIGHT, Inc. treatment modality. It included testimony from recent former clients of PFC. The reporter Robyn Monaghan left the day after the 3rd installment was published. She said it was due to personal reasons, others say it was because of the article. An ongoing mystery ensued. No reporter since has told any story from the side of the survivors or advocate, including Maia Szalavitz.
Either way, a handful of PFC's top supporters (the Porter County CADC) got pissed off and decided to hold a PUBLIC meeting to explain why Porter County (Indiana) should fork over $200,000 to help them start a new facility there in that county. The CADC pitched in $100,000 and another "unnamed" foundation pitched in $100,000. At that meeting and eventhough 4 survivors of STRAIGHT, Inc. came from all over the country to explain why this treatment modality is nothing short of child abuse, brainwashing, etc etc..., Porter County gave PFC $200,000.
Since that meeting, the NWI Times has ignored the survivors and has plugged PFC several times throughout the year. Basically, they are sidestepping their duty to report the truth about how this program is just a continuation of STRAIGHT, Inc. and how the CADC is tied to the DFAF, etc... and all the other rigamarole that comprises this PFC/KHK/STRAIGHT issue. They are VERY biased and are spreading false advertising about PFC/KHK... They are essentially aiding and abetting child abuse by plugging PFC and not telling the other side since the $$$ was given to PFC. Porter County is near Chicago and PFC advertises there too, in hopes of gathering clients for its new building.
It would be nice if folks would post a comment and/or call/email the reporter who wrote this article and tell them more about why this kind of treatment should be stopped. They have kids strip searching kids for starters, that's a crime.
Typically when board members leave it's to cover their asses in a potential upcoming legal action. Or, maybe their conscience has gotten to them, who knows? It's hard to believe that 3 would leave now as a matter of chance.

:o I forgot, sorry.... The Porter County CADC is comprised of former PFC Parents. So, there you have it, LOL... And also, at that PUBLIC meeting, there was no PUBLIC. It was about 50 PFC parents/supporters one side and 4 STRAIGHT, Inc. Survivors on the other. We may as well have been invisible. Point being, there was NO public component.

insurgents? all the survivors got 3 or 4 questions answered and talked a little while after the meeting with the CEO and other folks. It was nothin but lip service and lies.

With their guidance, the organization has evolved to become the principal national substance abuse prevention organization working with community-based coalitions and representing their interests at the national level."
To err is human. To really fuck things up requires government funding. Doesn't hurt matters, either, to have half the nations print media in your back pocket.

CADCA is a bigger CADC? Meaning, the CADC in Porter County IN is comprised of a couple folks who lost a daughter to a heroin OD, a lawyer lady, DEA agent, maybe, and a handful of former PFC program parents. minus, of course, the folks that left recently.
:-? Does this mean that the CADCA is 'overseeing' the Porter Co. IN CADC and possibly providing the $$$ to help open that new PFC site? There is an "unnamed foundation" involved. Would that be DFAF or this CADCA agency? I know it's speculation, but, just looking for possibilities at the moment... :wink:

Well just take a look around that site and then, maybe, google some of the proper names (surnames, organizations, etc.) and see what comes up. You might be surprised to find just how broad their influence is and how far they go back. For example,

I remember reading about MCTFT a few years ago. That NAZI organization was established w/ GHW Bush and Betty Sembler on the founding board of directors. It's run out of St. Pete College where Miller Newton taught classes till some of his former clients had a chat with their personnel department about him a few years back. These people have been active in my new(ish) neighborhood. When I first moved here I saw a notice on the bulletin board at the local cop shop for an upcoming Citizens On Patrol training session. This is nothing more nor less than Stalinist/Stazi block monitoring. My brother's a big wheel with them in Cincinnati; prez of the Cinci Homeowner's Association and proud cranky old man who runs around his neighborhood at night looking for minors to report for existing after 10pm. They also have more than a little to do with distributing "surplus" military equipment and training to local cop shops and doing the political heavy lifting to eliminate inconvenient ideas like Vth Amendment protections against unreasonable search and seizure. (no knock warrants, swatt raids on sick people, etc.)
