Is it a bad sign that I hope a whole lot of stupid parents buy into this thing, just because I know they're going to get owned horribly in the end? Seriously, what the fuck do you think Junior is going to do to you when he discovers this CD in your drive (no, the OTHER cup holder)?
A kid who hates me and the guarantee of a shitty nursing home, only for three low monthly payments of $99.00 plus $19.00 S&H? Wow! Sign me right the fuck up!
-
I heard this being advertised on the radio, utter and complete shit.
-
Someone else I know said they heard it, too...that's why I posted it.
-
Huh... says he worked at a "comprehensive RTC". Which one, anyone know?
Wish I could get my hands on this just to see what the hell it's talking about. If anyone finds this in their parents' office, feel free to send me a copy :D.

I'd help, but we lost the CD when I shattered it to pieces and rammed them down my dad's throat.
I tried digging them out with a fork and gluing them back together, but that doesn't seem to work.

That picture of the mother and daughter? It is the same picture that was posted on a billboard on Rt. 34 in Wall Township, NJ up till last year. I remember the pic because the daughter reminded me of the girl who played on 'Dawsons Creek'- the one who died in the last episode. It must be a generic pic from somewhere.
And how did someone with a history of prison sentences get a MCSW and a license to practice? And what state agency hired him? In NJ, someone with a record (in most cases) doesn't get to work in the Public Schools, that I know for a fact! Something about this guy's CV looks a little fishy. I'm starting to get the idea that there is NO ONE in the whole industry who knows what they are doing. This whole thing seems to be worse than I originally imagined.

Wasn't this guy with Ironwood or that other program in Utah?
His name rings a bell for sure.
Do a google search on him or check Struggling Teens archives.
Damn, where's Deb when ya need her?
If anyone can dig up the skinny on this dude, it's deb.

I looked over the site...this looks like yet another attempt to make parents feel as if they will "never make it" without this quacks help.
Another money making scam.
Damn why do so many decide to scam people by using troubled teens?
its bullshit...find something else to scam people with. its not fair that kids who have issues, are sought out by these scam scums to make their millions... it pisses me off to the max.
Its just fuckin ridiculous how they all seem to prey on the quote on quote troubled teens and families.
They dont really want to help, they just want to make their bucks to pay off the new home on the islands...or the new Jaguar or mercedes...
I mean, my psychiatrists and therapists, they dont try to pull this shit on scamming myself or my family into thinking that we need them forever or we will never make it.
They always say, I will help you until you do not need the therapy anymore. It is YOUR choice to come in for our appointments. They dont try and brainwash me. Thats one of the reasons I respect them.
But these idiots, forming these stupid ass programs, i have 0 respect. In fact, they make me sick.
Like on this site that this forum is about, the phrase, im amazed at the results..what are they selling here? Diet pills? God. I think Im going to hurl, it makes me so sick how these quacks attempt to do this to people....Prey on the vulnerable...who better than struggling families?
My advice to a struggling family, schedule a kick ass vacation...Relax... Chill out.. Stop worrying so much....Things happen how they are meant to...
So any of you pricks trying to scam people with your programs or any of that bullshit, choke on your caviar.

Yes NSFL, they TRULY ARE the sick ones and should be rounded up and taken to one of their own torture facilities and abused in a similar fashion... treated just as poorly as the kids that they had mistreated for the sake of lining their pockets.... ah if that could really come true, it would be so wonderful to witness....
-
I've heard that crap on the radio in FL, too, so they've got a nationwide advertising budget. You can spend a lot on ads when you cut out the frills like food, shelter, and sanitary facilities for the kids you're tortur.....I mean, "helping".
-
Thing is, these kids are still going to school and have other anchors to reality even when their parents have consciously decided to be insane.
(...right?)
This can't possibly end in anything other than hate. Parents experienced in suppressing their own children don't need this CD anyway...
-
I think most topics discussed on this forum end in hate. :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x
-
Bump.. (not enough hate yet).
-
btw. a wwasp referral parent is pushing this thing.

and usually with very good reason (see above comment)

A local radio station used to run spots for this every morning while my daughter was getting ready for school. One day, they ran a parody bit. She called crying and thanking them.

Tears of joy or humor?
And which one?

Jim (now James) Lehman used to work at Elan.
He was Director of Elan 6 when I was in Elan 3 1981-82.

Just as you get off the GSP at exit 98, take the ramp to 34 South by the Lukoil Station. The billboard isn't there now, the business that owns it keeps changing the picture.

Today I saw this man James Lehman on TV, doing an infomercial for something that he called "The Total Transformation." With his NYC accent and pitch about "troubled teens", I thought for sure that this guy was somehow connected to DAYTOP. So I started Googling and sure enough, he is indeed a DAYTOPian.
It was at an institution called Daytop Village that Lehman learned to be responsible for his actions. "They put us to work," Lehman recalls. "And when I left, I got my degree from Fordham University, finished my master's in Maine, and opened up my own practice as a cognitive behavioral therapist.

Also I poked around fornits for word of the man. Yep, folks have been posting on Lehman and his TT for at least a couple of years now. Let it be known that on 26 January 2010, at about eight in the morning, while I was drinking my tea and getting ready for school, I saw this guy doing his thing. When I have time I'm going to look into TT as well.

Yep, that's the article! He seemed old-school TC to me too; after some googling, I also found that article shortly after THIS post (http://http://www.fornits.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=25925&p=316894#p316894) in the 'Why spend a year in a program when it can be done in a week' thread, but never got around to posting it...
But ... ya missed some of the good parts, Sekto! There's loads more kool-aid to diligently peruse, both before and after your quote of choice! :D
So here's that article, in its entirety:

A behavior specialist says he knows why youngsters act up

Behavioral specialist James Lehman teaches parents what not to do when their kids act out.
If you've heard the radio commercials, you will have marveled at James Lehman's confidence in his ability to transform your trouble-making child or teen and dramatically improve your family dynamic.
Then you may have wondered: "He has never seen my child explode into a tantrum fit or hit peers at school or punch a hole in the wall! How can he be so sure he can fix our situation?"
Actually, the solution sounds rather simple. "Empower the parents, not the children," says Bronx native Lehman, creator of the Total Transformation (www.thetotaltransformation.com (http://http://www.thetotaltransformation.com)). "Some of these kids have so much control in a family, it's awful for everyone - the parents and siblings are traumatized!"
The program, which costs $295, consists of a packet of seven DVDs and a workbook and typically takes eight weeks to complete, although it can be done in one. A 12-hours-a-day parental support hotline is also available. "You can call when your kid is lying on the floor kicking and screaming, and our specialists will tell you what to do right now," says Lehman.

James Lehman
So who is this child whisperer? Abandoned by his parents at the age of 2, Lehman was adopted by a couple who were the supers in his building. "I grew up with a detachment disorder, demonstrating bad behavior because it was the only way I felt safe and in control. I started running away and eventually wound up in jail for burglaries and drugs."
It was at an institution called Daytop Village that Lehman learned to be responsible for his actions. "They put us to work," Lehman recalls. "And when I left, I got my degree from Fordham University, finished my master's in Maine, and opened up my own practice as a cognitive behavioral therapist.
"Most families I see don't need therapy, just education to show their kids accountability and how to deal with their problems."
WHAT NOT TO DO
The Total Transformation gives parents 27 tools and techniques to manage situations and describes behavior in terms different from what parents may be used to hearing, such as how manipulative and controlling it is.
Here's how the program works: the first week entails identifying behavior and managing it (i.e., walking into another room when the child starts up with, "Why not? Why not?") Then Lehman addresses seven ineffective parenting styles such as the proverbial "Savior," the parent who fights with the schools because they want to hold their child responsible for their actions. This says to the child, "My parents love me when I misbehave."
The most crucial element comes next: teaching your kids problem-solving skills and setting limits, while recognizing "thinking errors," such as believing if you let your teenager stay out late once, you have to do it all the time. Setting goals with your children is the final stage - and Lehman doesn't mean, "You're going to college." Instead, he helps parents establish and enforce, "You're going to make your bed by 8 a.m." Even if you have one of those teens who won't talk to you - he has solutions for that as well.
"My daughter had a huge fight with my husband two years ago and pretty much stopped talking to him. With her, everything was an argument - it was volcanic, and it affected the whole family," Elise from Hawthorne, N.J., testifies. "The Total Transformation solved that and I'm more of a solid, grounded parent to her, rather than someone who's wringing their hands and doesn't know what to do."

I was wondering the same thing. Hmmmmm up in Maine, came out of Daytop. Same age or so of Joe Ricci.
I googled this guy seems he is still in Maine, pushing his magic potion. :shamrock: :shamrock: Danny

Lehman seems to me to be sort of the John Scherer ("Video Professor") of the TTI; has anybody ever seen him on TV?
-
From his website:
"I have a very personal understanding of kids with behavior problems because I displayed severe oppositional, defiant behaviors as a child and teenager. For the past 30 years, I've been a behavioral therapist, focusing my work on helping behaviorally troubled children and teenagers turn around their behavior and take responsibility for their actions."
Translation: "I'm perpetuating the cycle of abuse like a good cog-in-the-machine! Go me! *whirr-click*"
Reading that site made me barf in my mouth a little.
