Would you get a chip after thirty days of being a survivor?

What if you decided you no longer wanted to be a survivor and left the group? Would your sponsor call you up and accuse you of being a "dry programmie"?

What would your fearless moral inventory consist of? And who would you have to make amends to based on your experience as a survivor? "Yes, hello staff, I'm sorry I was abused by you."

But take heart, there are indeed 12 step groups for people who have survived something. Incest, rape, that Sex in the City marathon your girlfriend forced you to watch. Hell, there is even a 12 step group for survivors of ritual abuse. (I'm not making that up.) I think that's the closest you are going to come to what you are looking for.

The ultimate irony is if 12 step ever creates a group for cult survivors. I'm going to 12 step to recover from 12 step.

1. Groupthink
2. Turning your life and will over to a god of some sort, while sacrificing your own autonomy.
3. Worshiping the founder of the group, and treating his book and writings like a bible
4. Disclosures of past wrongdoings, which have nothing to do with anything, and are nobody's MOTHERFUCKING BUSINESS.
5. Shame based tactics should someone leave the fold.
6. AN ADMISSION THAT YOU ARE POWERLESS... over your own actions, over a fabricated "disease" that has consumed you, what have you.
7. Having other members pursue and stalk you should you decide not to return.
8. No-boundaries affection and love bombing if you fall in line with everybody fucking else.

Please, if you need for me to go on, I will.
