Genetic selection at work.

His genes will not be passed on. I'm thinking he ought to be a darwin's award winner.

Dunno about that.  I damn hear had a similar experience trying to make the trek from the isolated motel they stuck me in all the way to JobCorps...  21 miles, no water, 100+ degree weather... I collapsed... luckily a payphone was nearby and i managed to call 911... No surprise, program tried to make me pay the ambulance bill, even though insurance would have covered it.  "need to accept the consequences bla bla".  Even after I left the program they forwarded me the bill... I sent it back, they sent it back, i sent it back, they sent it back... eventually, either it got lost in the mail, or they just kept it.  I told them I wouldn't pay since they interfered with my insurance covering it...  And my parents backed me on that...

Anyway... from experience, when you're suffering heat exhaustion, you aren't thinking straight.  And it's a gradual process.  I didn't realize how much water you could lose so quickly.  I just marched on and ignored the thirst... I thought I would be fine... then i started getting dizzy... I tried to drink from a hose, but i threw up...  turns out i was really close to heat stroke

Buschow described himself as 5-foot-7 and about 180 pounds,

Not exactly in the best of shape.

Could have been muscle. Doesn't matter either way, since he's dead.
