Hey all. A new idea popped into my head last night, tell me what you think.
The standard medium for delivering survivor stories online has been written word for a long time, and I am brainstorming on other ways to deliver this information that might have more of an emotional impact, or at least people will not get bored and stop reading.
So my idea is to record audio testimony of survivors, and save them as podcasts and mp3 files that can be downloaded, and then listened to while typing at work, driving in the car, cooking in the kitchen, etc.
Some of the written stories are quite long, including mine, and I know that some people don't like to read for that long or lose interest. I thought this more dramatic way of getting across the information might be a new way of communicating with other survivors and potential program parents searching for information.
So what do you think, does this sound really stupid and redundant and less likely to get attention than a written story? Do you think it is worth the effort to try and put together a website that collects audio testimony from survivors?
Since most computers have a microphone input, it's really easy to do. Most computers even come with some type of free audio editing program so you can add music or sound effects.
I'd really like to make a movie like that Straight one, because it's so hard to convey the visuals of watching other kids and adults actually doing such crazy things, that movie previewis a trip..

I think it's a good idea.

Podcasting audio interviews is a brilliant idea. Go for it.

Yeah, and then email em to parents who are considering shipping their kids off. Most of those people stop reading after the golden promises and pretty pictures.
I'd do one, but my microphone is currently not working, and I havent bothered to troubleshoot the issue. But if you have audio equipment and want something, I'll see what I can do.

It would be great to set up a list of people to send the statements too. Edcons, policy makers, pta/pto, school counselors, APA, State Department(overseas facilities), media companies. I like it you should definitely go for it.

What about YouTube, or some similar venue?
