Can someone please either provide the address to Morgan Yacht, or give directions (from Tyrone Square Mall would work).
I was very young when I was in Straight in the late 1970s, so I never drove myself. I would like to drive back by the Hell Hole and look at it. Maybe if no one is looking I'll piss on it.
Thanks.

I think I was able to locate it. Here is an image using google earth.

Can anyone give the physical address (building number on Anvil)???
Also, what business is there now?
-
Not sure of the physical street address...the cordanates for the the place are 27* 47'38.38.35" N 82* 44'13.64"W (according to Google Earth)... I would hold off on pissing on the wall...last I saw the Morgan Building it was occupied by Rayethon (sp) a defence contractor....cameras all over.
If you spent your time in the morgan yacht building...I know ya. There are several of us that probably know ya... and you know them.. Closer to the truth...we know our memories and our 'memories' know us.
I live about 30 minutes away...in good traffic. If it's something ya feel strongly about, I might make it a point to go down that way. Take a video or something....shit maybe the Milton Roy building. or the Gandy Buiding...maybe find a place to post them.Wont be an immediate thing, other obligations and all.

Thank you for your reply. I may take you up on your offer to meet up and go to the building. I would like to see Milton Roy, as well. My intake was at Milton Roy.
I believe I spent my first night in Straight at your home. I have been reading posts here for a while but do not participate much, and I remember seeing something from you that made me think you were the oldcomer that I went home with my first night. I think you were a third phaser at the time, and I believe I may have only been at your house only one night.
If I remember, you lived with your mom. Your dad may have been there too, but I only remember your mom, because she drove us to your house and took us in the next morning.
Anyway, I did not get to know you well, because I think it was only one night. You did not do anything malicious to me. You were brainwashed, as I would soon enough be, but neither you nor your mother were unkind in any way. (By the way, I apologize if I have the wrong person, because I am not at all 100% on you being that person)
I tried to fake my way on to 2nd phase so I could go home. Then, I put in for "home." Do you remember that bullshit you had to go through for home or phase promotions. Anyway, I am standing there, and EVERYONE in the group is telling me bullshit like,
"Man, you have really come a long way,"
"I feel really good about you. You just seem really happy, and I feel good about it,"
"When you finally admitted doing Mushrooms, I knew you had finally opened up and were ready for Second," (I had never fucking done mushrooms)
I had everyone eating out of my hand, but then that evil demon seed Dave Crock -- Sr. Staff -- who is leading the whole thing, gets to weigh in. What a scurvy pig-fucker he was. Remember that goddam notebook they would be writing in during the whole process (or maybe I have transposed my MI into this sorded recollection). Anyway, I am home-free. Even if he does not feel GREAT about me, the worst that can happen is that he says he is not real sure, but he'll approve it anyway since the group is so convinced. He just looks at me and says, "I think you're completely full of shit." He reems me, and then the group for not seeing through my bullshit. REQUEST DENIED! So I sit down, sinking in my chair like I am in quick-sand. Within 5 minutes, I decide, "Fuck this, it's jerk time!"
There was some guy who had been a jerk, and he would pull lint off his sock and blow it in the air. He would wait for it to descend near his mouth, and blow it again. He was completely slouched, utilizing the back of the seat. I think I became a jerk just for the added comfort of being able to sit back.
OK, I am rambling now. Remind me to tell about the "amnesty rap." I got fucked over in that one. A lot of fourth phasers had to do the walk of shame back over to our side of the room.

oops, it posted twice

I visited the infamous Morgan Yacht building in 2004 with a friend that I drove school buses with. The building has changed a little bit since the days it was used by Straight. The front lobby has changed and they added a second floor over where the old infirmary loft was all the way over both the "green room" and the Carpet Room and kitchen area and staff offices. There are stairs on the north side of the building leading up to a door. About half of the north side parking lot is now taken up with some kind of storage/utility maintenance looking building. God only knows what kind of company took over. The building was vacant and up for sale when I walked around it. The south parking lot was all busted up and the basketball hoop and net were long gone, but you could still see the marks where it was once attached. The only real tell tale things that are left are the wooden beams of the rustic fence that bordered the extreme Northwest corner of the property by the intersection of 72nd Street and 26th Avenue. Just a few sections of fence are left standing and they were overgrown with vegetation last time I was there. They had replaced that shitty looking yellow paint with a mild brownish cream color that looked like the inside of a 3 Musketeers bar and put a river rock facing on the front lobby part. As for the address, I believe it to be 2557 72 Street N. St. Pete Florida. For the exact address try looking it up in the Pinellas County Property Appraisers website and you'll also see who owns the damn thing and how much it sold for last.
P.S. The jerk you saw pulling lint from his sneaker and blowing it into the air was named Curtis Murray. He was a pretty good one. We clicked together, and one of our best running gags was when we both found a couple of dead Palmetto Bugs in the carpet room and "adopted" them as pets. We would get the attention of some chick on the girls side and then pet the roaches and kiss on them and freak the chick out, watch her tell on us to a 5th phase girl, then hide them in our sock or under our leg, and act all innocent by the time it made it to a guy 5th phaser. Anything to pass the time in that shithole ya know?

If ya'll get out there, see if you can guestimate how far it is from Battaglia Enterprises of 980 Tyrone Blvd.
-
i believe Marti lives near it
ask her captainmarti@yahoo.com

Tyrone Blvd runs Southeast to Northwest starting at 5th Avenue North and roughly a block and a half north of 58th Street North.
It runs due north until it reaches the intersection of 9th Avenue and Tyrone, where it then curves ubruptly into a large slanted divided 4 lane highway also known as Alternate US19. Following standard city layout, the Northwest facing addresses are all even numbers, (right, or passenger side heading towards Tyrone Mall) therefore Battaglia Corp would be located in a large strip mall called Tyrone Gardens last I heard. There used to be a drivers license office there, but they took it out. I can't even remember what is left on that side, but there is a Big Lots and Winn Dixie on the far ass side.
To get to the Morgan Yacht from Tyrone is a fuckin pain in the ass, but if you insist.............
Continue up Tyrone until you reach 22 Avenue. It is a huge fucking intersection with two left turn lanes, and three through lanes. Peel your eyes and you can see the golden arches of a McDonalds further up on the right. On the left through the smog and bullshit you can see the clusterfuck known as Tyrone Square Mall. You now have about one mile of hell to get your ass into the left hand lane if you are not already in it. Watch out for assholes because this is the third most accident prone stretch of road in Pinellas County. Up ahead is a steep overpass/hill. Go over the bitch, then slow the fuck down and get ready to turn left at the first available median. There used to be a car dealership on the other side of the road right there. Your passenger may have to lean out the car and spray the windshield of the car behind you with a 12 guage shotgun, cuz people tailgate like motherfuckers coming down off the overpass. No matter what street you turn into, it don't matter, just drive straight until you reach either 26th Avenue or 72nd Street. Follow the signs and you'll get there eventually. If it starts smelling like shit, you are near the waste water treatment plant and need to turn left. Either way try to wind up at the corner of 72nd Street and 26th Avenue. The building is on the corner. The building is on the east side of 72nd Street. The streetsigns on the next street over should say Anvil Street. There is a company next door that was called Massey Tool & Mold back in the day. Raytheon has several buildings running along 72nd on the other side of 26th Avenue all the way up to 28th Avenue. E-Systems had some other shit up the other way. After you do me a favor and piss on the building why not treat yourself to a new pair of shoes? Head up to the traffic light while traveling south, turn left, and then another left into the parking lot of the strip mall. There you will find world famous Peltz Shoe Store. They rock!!! They actually treat you like a valuable customer and bring the shoes to you. Tyrone Mall is okay too. By the way, once you are over here, you will now be on 22nd Avenue, which is the way that most people used to get into the Morgan Yacht Building back in the day. I hope this was of some help.

Yep, recieved your e-mail. I appreciate your comments on my art and such. I remeber very well who you are now. Although I couldn't tell ya if you were at our house one night or 100 nights...will have to trust your memory on that one. Your guess of my name was correct, and as you requested I will withold your name here, no worries.
I was flooded with memories yesterday after reading your e-mail before work. I remember thinking that "they", meaning the group was going to eat you alive. You had an aura of innocense that I think the group picked up on and as a result demonized you.
I remember your sister, and your mom....specially your mom. She did something unique in each and every open meeting. I won't mention what she did.....that would probably give your identity away. I did a similar thing, my parents, as a familily rititual would call me "Mr.D" during the open meeting. What used to be a endearing pet name soon became a noxious agrivation...thanks to Straight Inc.
I will try to arrange something for this saturday the 31st. Generally my significant other and I both work on saturdays...my saturday is optional, which can free up some time. It will be interesting to hear your memories of that time in our lives. I have just been told we are attending the theater saturday night and seeing Charlie Murphy in tampa sunday night....so maybe we can do a lunch and have plenty of time to make our rounds of the buildings.
Much Peace

Woof, got swamped with work and was out of town. I found the Morgan Yacht building. Looks like it has been acquired by a company that takes security very seriously. There is construction going on right now. The windows and doors near the corner entrance are being closed in with cement block. There are large concrete pillars going around the perimeter, which appears that it is going to be a fence or security barrier of some kind.
I'll tell you what was eerie, and that is the single story building just to the north. I remember being able to see that building. It now is blue and white.
I was trying to remember how many large bay doors their were. On one side of the building, there appears to be two, and on the other, just one. I didn't remember just how large the building was, in part because we rarely went to that back warehouse area.
I still need to find the Milton Roy building. Does anyone have an address or directions? Thanks.

Milton Roy lies off of a snippet of a road called Sheen Drive. It is north of the Sears and Roebuck Annex Building on Park Street. From Tyrone Blvd. go West past Walmart. There is a BIG ass intersection there now. Pinellas Trail has an overpass there. Right lane turn, head north, Target to left, Wal-Mart to right, shitloads of traffic all around. There is a road dumping lots of piece of shit cars onto road. 46th Avenue rednecks, get your ass in left lane now!
Sears Outlet parking lot on left. Slow the fuck down and turn left onto next open roadway median on left hand side of the road. The sign on the post should say Sheen Drive. Stay to the left and continue through the parking lot to end. You should be able to recognize all the water pipes and shit hanging off the sides of the building. Milton Roy used to make water meters and shit back in the 60's. The building is now owned by Silor Optical last I heard and they make Contact Lenses and custom lenses. Go there on a Saturday between 9 and 11 am and you may meet the caretaker in the parking lot. I think his name is either Charlie or Gus (Ginger knows) and he is pretty cool if you approach him right. He knows all about the Straight Days. Last car I saw him in was a golden brown Ford Taurus station wagon in Feb of 2003. I would definately not go there during business hours during the week.

85DJ: Thanks again for the outstanding directions! You have an incredible recollection and knowledge of the buildings. When I was put in the program in 1978, I had just recently turned 13 years old, and I was from out of County. I had only been to any part of Pinellas County a handful of times my entire life, so I really had no references to where I was at. My lack of knowlege with Pinellas, combined with the complete sleep deprivation, resulted in a very poor recollection of how the buildings looked, and where they were. Now the inside, I remember.
Thanks for taking the time to assist me.

Told ya that ya might wanna re-think that whole "peeing on the building thing" :skull:
85DJ has an uncanny memory when it comes to details and steet name etc...I was stunned at the WHO concert...absolute blast, have most of it on my trusty cybershot...movie setting
I had a week from hell myself....no need to elaborate here/now. My offer still stands. I woud be cool with having lunch and head over to the Milton Roy building. I think 85DJ can atest that it has a nicer area for reflection....It's a heavy trip.
Keep me posted on a time range you can make it down here, and I will see what I can do to make the time.
Namaste

Huh? Look, I find this all very flattering, but please quit attributing omniscience to me.

My Mistake, someone from Sarasota Straight that I talked to good while back, does'nt really matter what the guys name is. He'll stop and talk if you approach him right.
I myself prefer the water approach. Best way is to go to War Veterans Park off Tyrone after it turns into Bay Pines Blvd. Go all the way to the east boat ramps and put in a canoe or kayak. Paddle out and under overpass. Look for channel markers near the middle of bridge. It is a real shallow draft and lots of rocks and shit so be careful. Once into the Cross Bayou area, head through the mangroves east and you should start seeing the backs of the buildings. Milton Roy stands out pretty good. From the water, you can see the back doors of Big Group and see the caged in paddock area where Chris Casselor used to hold guys rap some times. If you are REAL adventurous you may even find a place to touch ground and climb out and walk around.
