Title: If you can't log in or post, delete your cookies
Post by: psy on March 05, 2007, 09:27:33 AM
i'm getting way too many emails / IMs asking about this so i figured i'd just start a thread.

If your having problems logging in, or posting at fornits, simply delete your browser's cookies

Firefox> Preferences> Security> Show Cookies > Remove all

In internet exploder... you're fucked anyway.  go get firefox (http://http://www.getfirefox.com)

Why does it have to be all of the cookies? Can't it just be the fornits cookies?

Anyway, I tried that, but I'll try it again.

I can log in and post, but it logs me out the minute I get offline and come back on, even though I have keep me logged in checked. I figured it was part of the cookie problem.

It worked for me but I think it has something to do with the site cookies. I haven't been able to post for a week.

You folks should really check the Web Forum Hosting section when you run into problems like this.  This was discussed there about a week ago.     :D

One of the regular posters here e mailed me about this a while ago, he can't log in or post as a guest, I told him to delete his cookies, but he still can't get to post

What gives?

I know he uses XP Pro, is there an issue that runs deeper than cookie deletion?

That'll require a lot more than what you just told me.

What message does he get?

Can he post on any other phpBB forums?

Can he post through a proxy such as Guardster (http://http://www.guardster.com)?

Has he tried different browsers (Firefox, maybe)?

Um...I didn't ask him,    I think he is getting through to other sites as he sent me some links from YouTube etc & i beleieve he has a Myspace account, apart from that i don't know

I know he doesn't use Firefox, he uses IE

I'll find out if he actually deleted the cookies in the 1st place!!

He's tried a bunch of different browsers, cleared the cookies. etc etc...  It might be some funky "internet protector 3000" software jamming up the works.  He's tried everything else.
