8 acres of apples and peaches.. man, that's nice. I've always wanted a place like that.

About a month after he was let out of the juvie I found him attempting to use his chemistry set to make illict drugs. I had purchased the chemistry set as a christmas present, and certianly had no idea he would ever put it to this sort of use. At first I was more amused than dismayed. Perhaps that was the wrong reaction for me to have, but then again catching my son trying to make acid in his bedroom did show a great deal of enterprise on his part.

Let your son go to the Juvie!
:-? :-? :-?

The Struggling Turds are incapable of detecting trolls that sound like that.
Well, maybe since they have Fornits to point them out...
I still think it'll get about five replies.

at 2 and counting

Just wait. There will be a herd of program sheeple coming along to add replies...
-
sheeple
Man, does that word bring back memories.

I'm so very glad the original post isn't real, because that is some goddamn BAD advice.
-
I must be incredibly dense, but I truly suck when it comes to determining troll parent testimony vs. genuine. Subtlety is lost on me. I know some people think that it's totally ridiculous and unbelievable that a kid would use a chem set to try to make acid, but I did so many stupid things when I was a kid, it seems entirely possible.
-
I'm sure MGDP would be willing to give you a crash-course in recognizing trolls.
-
It's not really something I can teach.
There's a certain subtlety involved, of writing style and organization of facts. I can't generally use my bullshit detector, as it usually applies to the 'genuine' programmed parents and staff, who lie constantly. But there is a certain word order and phrasing done when someone is writing fiction instead of fact. Some things said, some things not said. And of course (as in this case) there's a few extremes done, just pushing it to the limit to see how dumb the programmies are.
Of course "how dumb the programmies are" is like "how wet the ocean is". The programmies never can tell the difference and so they can be trolled indefinitely. If I could stomach ST I'd construct a whole new social reality for them, and then start having my trolls being mysteriously killed one by one...

Boy, you do have your hands full! Most would recommend an educational consultant (for $$$$), then wilderness, then residential placement. With that degree of drug use, I imagine they would recommend an RTC (residential treament center) rather then a therapeutic boarding school. You can hire transporters to take him (for more $$$$).
When I discovered my daughters drug use and decided something had to be done, I was sure she would attack the transporters, sure she would run from wilderness. She's really tough. Walked barefoot 5 miles in Nov in the cold, kicked a guys truck with her sandled foot once and caused $1600 damage. Nothing of the sort happened. The transporters were very professional. She made one attempt to run during transport, but quickly realized that wouldn't work. She did purposely fall down a hill at wilderness (and was injured), but knew running wouldn't work. She ended up LOVING wilderness and not wanting to leave. I think many would agree that the wilderness experience is so different then anything else, it really helps them to clear their head and think about what's happening in their life. By the time she finished wilderness, I was able to take her to an RTC. That never could've happened pre wilderness.
If you want specific suggestions, I can PM you (in washington state also, though I'm on the west side of the mountains now).
A good troll can garner responses like this one. Well done original poster.
The truth is a program troll is never as strange as a true programmie, the program trolls simply try and copy the craziness of what they've seen! Like this one I quoted, excellent troll material for THIS site.

Have you tried sitting down and TALKING to your son? A little one on one bonding? What about a good therapist in your community? I'm sure there are many.
You should quit your day job and take your son on a camping trip for several months, since he likes the outdoors. I'm sure he would love that and wouldn't mind leaving his friends and drugs. It could really turn things around for him!
Here's another idea- a strong boarding school! With his science ability, I'm sure they won't care about his run-ins with the law, his mishap with the chemistry set or the drug use. I bet the judge would give him a great reference and any school would be glad to have him in their community.
If all that fails, send him to live with the poster, Exhausted. She is good with boys that age.
(sorry, folks. Couldn't resist. I doubt the authenticity of the OP)
You joke, Karen but some of this stuff is good advice. I agree, these things might be ridiculous for a mother/son to do, but they are not that out of line for a father/son to do instead of a program. Ever wonder why there as so many mothers and single mothers posting on ST and looking into programs?

Because women are usually better at worrying?
-
Because you can divorce a wife.
-
And they're the ones left with the kids.
-
Zing!
But seriously. Why would it be any different if a father of a kid, woke them up at 2am, handcuffed them and put them in a van, and physically forced them to go camping for two weeks. Would it be legal for a parent to do what programs do to kids, if they were to do it themselves? Hmmm.
-
Hell no, it wouldn't.
I (yet again) concur with the assertion that children need to have the right to due process, etc.
-
It just amazes me how parents over at ST throw out advice like it's candy... "hire an escort, send him to wilderness".
-
Someone should fire some hot bacon grease on them and see how they like it.
-
I had bacon earlier, it was good.
-
Their own burning skin will suffice.
-
If there's no bacon, a hot cup of coffee would work.
-
Looks like reggie is putting his "kid" in a wilderness program! I wonder what kind of PM's that poster received??
"Hi Reggie,
I had a very good experience with my own son in XXX wilderness program. Their phone nuimber is 18004445555 and don't forget to mention referal code #420!"
-
Maybe "reggie" will post those PMs here for our enjoyment..
