I have been reading all these recent debates.  ISAC, SAFETY NET and on AND ON AND ON.  

You know what it makes me think of?  When I was a kid, my friends and I would make "secret clubs."  Then, we would bicker over who could be the leader.  That is exactly what I see going on here!

I wonder if to the poor kid that is still going through the stuff we all did if all this insane political bickering would really matter to him?  Would he care if it was SAFETY NET that brought the truth to light, or ISAC?  Would any of us have cared?  No, we would have been grateful to have been saved, period.  

I am so sick of this whole scene man.  No one accomplishes shit like this, and i don't have the desire to sit and WALLOW in pools of the past.  

I don't need umteen degrees (that is for YOU Ms. Bright)to see that all of this is destructive.  I'll bet the farm you guys have the Semblers, Miller and every other sadistic asshole rolling with laughter over this shit!  "haha, the bitter druggies can't even get along with EACH OTHER" much less get things changed!  

I'm outta here, and the paperbag on my head is not fear of wrath from any single one of you, it is SHAME to say I ever associated with such power trips.

How cares what those people think. There's no hope for them anyway, but there is for the kids that are still trapped. Right?


And this is not a secret club, it's real.It is the sad result of what these programs do to you.I think there if not only bad in this forum at all. They have to balance eachother out. I will stick aruond, and be proud to speak up. Even if I'm posting anonymously!Besides, having a voice helps.

I have to agree with you here. I understood this on a gut level 20 years ago and now I think I can put it into words. One of the favored little psychological parlour tricks that cults have always used is to reduce you to a state of rage, confusion, weakness, intense psychological stress or whatever and then turn around and say "See, you're a fuckin' lunatic! Now sit down, shut up and do as you're told." That, in addition to our parent's support of the cult and the fact that we were minors is why no one, even very good and compassionate people, would listen to us back than.

What I didn't get then and have realized recently is that it didn't end for most of us when we got out. We actually are more hostile, paranoid and damaged AND we have a ready set of learned mob behavior that, especially when we associate with each other and think about the details the weird little dark history that we share, it's just the most natural thing in the world to slip into like a grungy old pair of well broken in jeans.

That's one reason why some people won't listen to us now. We so often lose temperance and control and start acting like a pack of lunatics.

I'm glad you're sticking around! Don't feel pressured to not post anonymously, just ignore the control freaks and do your own thing. But the answer to your question is YES! Despite public and private attacks amongst the survivors, everyone is still hard at work doing their thing to rescue these kids. And yes, having a voice does help! I'm sorry you feel that way. And certainly I feel bad that you've named me as part of your reason for leaving the board. I certainly didn't mean to offend you with the fact that I have an education, but I do have one. Nor was I trying to be vain or brag or whatever, I was simply trying to impress upon Bill how hard I've worked to cultivate my skill, how long I've been writing, and mostly, I was trying to impress upon him how much he was damaging me when he slandered my name so publicly. As far as the battle between ISAC and Safetynet - I know nothing about that. All I know is that one guy keeps attacking me and I keep trying to defend myself. Again, I'm sorry that my behavior was a factor in your decision to leave, but - I was defending myself, so I'm not completely sorry.

I have always been admirer of the 12 traditions of AA and NA. (Using these words usually gets someone shot around here.) They are more rules for getting along with each other than for personal behaviour. Political issues will always cause controversy. I really dislike liberal diatribe and a good majority of the people that post here thing I'm a fruit loop because of it. I am certain some of them discount my knowledge and experience because of it. Also, I am not convinced that sending a juvinile to a treatment center is a dastardly horrible thing when compared to the alternatives. I do agree that a treatment center that will take a youth who has smoked dope once or a lot, but who is still knocking down good grades and is an acceptable, responsible and productive person, is a treatment center whose theraputic motives should be questioned. I think damn near all current treatment centers are much better than sending someone to prison.

Now that I've got some of you riled and searching for my address so you can burn my house. These are just my beliefs, I am entitled to them. Everyone else that posts here is entitled to their beliefs. I really don't think I am All Powerful and can change an opinion that has been formed over a lifetime. I can agree to disagree. I personally think some of the bickering is a big dick or big ovary contest and some people just post shit to see what happens. Kind of like this thread.

The real thing to look for is what happens when someone does post a REAL question. You see all these people that are generally at each others throat band together and offer up the things that fixed them in similar issues. Well, at least until some ass says something like quit whining and get over it. Like one of those "work the steps or die," motherfuckers from the AA and NA world. God damnit, when I am in pain, please don't tell me this! If you have no concrete experience, shut-up, listen and perhaps you, too, will learn something.

I seriously doubt Mel & Co. even look at this site. After all, they are to busy trying to mess up other nations now. Even if they did, it would certainly be easy to find out. Just do an IP lookup of the addresses that come to this site and look into the ones that trace back to a .gov.

While my brethren here may do things that make me shake my head in dismay. While I do not agree with a good portion of them politically. While I think some people need to be in treatment centers. While I'm convinced Mel & Co. don't keep tabs on this site. I am not embarrassed by my assosciation with the people here. I have a common bond and will, just like in the fucking program, be proud to call them my friends. Even more so now than then. After all, we really are the survivors of that place. Many, many of the people that went through there aren't and no longer have a voice. I can't help but wonder what they'd say?

I miss some of them greatly and sincerely hope you do also.
