Title: Football
Post by: starry-eyed pirate on January 06, 2007, 07:29:39 PM
Anarchist Hippie punks in PA who were in $tr8 and would be kings without power still love football, even when their team, who are the defending Champs are already done.  Such is life.  We play some ball in PA.

I like the Ravens, even though they are my division rival and they bled us out twice this year.  They're pretty tough.  And they finally have a solid offense.  And I have loyalty to my division.  I told my buddy Griz that I thought the Ravens might take it all and he got real ornery real quick.    That's kinda how he got his name anyway.  I'll take the Ravens against the Colts.

I like San Diego too.  I lived there in the early 80s when we had Dan Fouts and Kellen Winslow.  Tomlinsons Bad.

This sounds like what I was thinking to myself last year when the Steelers were in the 'bowl. They're close enough to home, and I had just driven by Pittsburgh a couple hours before the big game. I was completely stoked for the Steelers to win. Yeah, fuck the Colts!

They won't be doing too much "charging" against the Ravens' defense. San Diego best be prepared to get STOMPED!

Yeah but how many TDs does LT have this year...??  Somethin like 30.  Thats outrageous!  I'd love to see the Ravens defense go up against LT and the Chargers.

Well Im glad you asked lol when i checked iwth my sources (google knows all) they said :

"LaDainian Tomlinson was voted the Associated Press' Most Valuable Player for 2006. Tomlinson ran for 28 touchdowns, scored three on receptions, and threw two more. He led the NFL in rushing with 1,815 yards. "

Woot! GO Chargers GO! :D

Football is scrited like ballay..  This year the New Orleans Saints will win the superbowl cause of their flood..  Shorty after 911 it was the Patriots (symboling America)

It only takes a few key players to rig an entire outcome..

Could be, but I don't think so...too many variables to control.

Patriots looked good today against the Jets,  They play in San Diego next week.  Should be a good game.

This has been my theory for years! I get a kick outta folks who watch the games as if it isn't scripted

well whats your evidence ??  Everybody in the league would have to be in on it.  It would only take a few key players to screw up the script.  I just can't see it.

A few key players to screw up the game...my point exactly. I don't think that all the players are in on it, but a couple of guys getting paid big bank to maybe influence the outcome of a game, that I do believe happens more than ya know.

I spose it's possible that some players might get bought off now and then but I don't really think it goes on.  First of all none of those guys need the money.  They're all millionares already.  2ndly there are way too many variables in a game, let alone a season, for a few key players to have that kind of influence.

My point was that even if a few key players were on the take there would be too many others who wouldn't know the script and would just screw it up naturally, by playin the game.  Only a fool would put any real money on such a risky venture.  It just don't make sense to me.  The only way it could work would be if nearly every starter in the league was on the take.  I just can't see that.

I hope your amused by my naivete.

It's all about money..  More ratings means more money..  I can visualize the superbowl previews now..  Footage of Hurricane Katrina and the superdome..

But don't "bank" on anything I say..

I see what you mean, but remember there will always be a certain amount of predictability (like the Ravens' awesome defense, for instance) involved in the game...

Yeah, I know what you mean, and if the Saints do go, they'll certainly play up Katrina.

I don't think it's fixed.  But I don't care if you do.

Hey, money is money and just because you already have millions means nothing. The truly wealthy are sometimes the most greedy of all. The things you cannot imagine are sometimes the things that are happening right under your nose..but I get that when you're a big sports fan, that's a hard pill to swallow
I guess the most important thing is that you enjoy watching the games...even if there are some behind the scene antics :D

Ohio State vs. Florida.  I don't care who wins, as long as the competition's fierce.  I like a hard fought game.

Colts vs. Baltimore.  It's been 23 years since the Colts left Baltimore....time for revenge!  I hope the Ravens pummel them!

It should be a good game, but I doubt it'll match their comeback against the patriots. That was one of the best games I've seen.
