What planet is she from?
It's hilarious how Lon publishes all these happy fun little letters, and doesn't happen to address the fact that HLA IS BLEEDING TO DEATH.
-
My guess is she was searching for a valid excuse to get out scott free.
-
I wonder if the other Fulsang is quitting his job at Riverside Military Academy... I guess that means yes.

Who is Billy Pichon? Seven months, and he's not been added to the list of staff on the website?

Fuglsang Leaving Hidden Lake For Maternity Leave
December 18, 2006
Dear Colleagues;
I hope this letter finds you well and enjoying another wonderful holiday season. The campus and mountains surrounding Hidden Lake Academy and Ridge Creek are in full holiday swing with the decorations in place and the crisp winter air surrounding us. The students have recently participated in our annual Winter Gala and we just had two amazing peer groups graduate. It is definitely a busy and exciting time here in Dahlonega.
It is with a heavy heart full that I write this letter. I want to be the one passing the news to you that I am leaving my position as the Director of Admissions/Public Relations for Hidden Lake Academy & Ridge Creek as of December 28th, 2006. I will be departing for Maternity Leave and will not be returning to my position. This decision has been personally and professionally very difficult for me. I have been a part of the Hidden Lake Academy & Ridge Creek dream for over seven years now and have seen both programs grow by leaps and bounds in my time here. I have made life-long friends while working with the best in the business and I know that the staff members here are making a difference in the lives of each student they touch! I owe a wealth of gratitude to Len for allowing me to participate in his vision. I am proud of the work I have done here and the relationships I have built with the students, families and consultants.
Never-the-less, life has given me a new opportunity and is taking me in a new direction one that will allow my family and I to be move back to the mid-west to be closer to our family. With our second child soon to arrive (just 3 weeks away now) we are ready to be geographically closer to family and to have a fresh start. I have the utmost confidence in both the Ridge Creek and Hidden Lake Academy programs and wish everyone there nothing but the best.
I have the utmost confidence in Billy Pichon who has been working with me in Admissions for the last seven months. He is wonderful with our incoming families and students and he has already made a significant and positive impact on our Admissions Department. Jeff Holloway, Assistant Headmaster, will be assisting him upon my departure.
Please feel free to contact me directly if you have any questions or concerns.
Sincerely,
Nicole Fuglsang, MA, NCC, LPC
Director of Admissions/ Public Relations

Just like I said it would happen. "More time with family" and "exploring new opportunities."
Once again, everyone thank Nicole for exposing HLA's practices. Without her arrogance and stupidity, the evidence would have been much harder to gather. Thanks again, Nicole! Good luck!
If you could have just shut your trap after you told Clarke you didn't "want to discuss it in emails," all would have been well. But your desire for one-upsmanship and your absolute arrogance forced you to behave otherwise. Oh well, that's water under the bridge now. I hope your new employer realizes how negligent you are with corporate files before they get burned, too...
-
Nicole went to work with Brian church, the former admissions guy. So did Josh Watson.
-
What????????????????????
-
What????????????????????
That's the information I have.- that all three are working for the same competitor now. Is this not correct?
-
Josh Watson went to go work with Brian Chruch out in Utah for a wilderness-esque program. I highly doubt Nicole is relocating to Utah. Billy Pichon is now the only person left to work in admissions and as far as a comparrison, he seems to be the only honest one to have been in that department since Richard Prow moved over to music entirely.
-
Yeah that's old Billy for you. The thing is no one seems to even know who Billy is. He's not listed on the faculty webpage and searches for him come up empty. So tell us, who is Billy?
-
I'm a newby. What is the deal with HLA? Can anyone give me a 5 minute overview of why they are in trouble? Are previous employees involved? I know a couple previous employees. Could previous employees be held accountable for the trouble? Who are the top 10 employees that could be in trouble?

Why did she say she's leaving HLA for maternity leave when she really just quit (or got fired) and took another job? Unbelievable.
Well, at least the court will know where to find her when they need to subpoena her. I'm sure they'll be quite interested to hear her story about working at HLA.

Curious....

yes indeed. she'd better be prepared to take some time off to come back to georgia to take her medicine. don't go too far, nicole.

This is incorrect. Nicole is working for a program in MO.
Also, Len tried to hire Dr. Huey to work at HLA, but he refused and used HLA's offer to get a bigger offer from another program.
This is probably why Nicole lied about where she was going. She probably wanted to get her last paycheck and get out of town before the little man stopped payment on it or tried to otherwise scuttle her.
I bet more than a few ex-HLA'ers wish they did the same before they were sytematically screwed by HLA.

The name of the wilderness program where Brian Church and Josh Watson work in Utah is: ASPIRO

Change Academy At Lake Of The Ozarks
Lake Ozark, MO
CALO Announces The Opening Of Their Co-Ed Program
Ken Huey, Ph.D., CEO

February 15, 2007
CALO (Change Academy at Lake of the Ozarks) announces the opening of their co-ed program for youth ages 13 to 17. Appropriate teenagers will be admitted into the program starting March 5th, 2007. CALO is headed by Dr. Ken Huey. Ken started his career in residential treatment with Provo Canyon School as a front line therapist. He later became Provo Canyon's Director of Business Development before moving on to West Ridge Academy. At West Ridge Ken was the Director of Clinical Services before starting CALO.
Nicole Fuglsang, MA, is CALO's Admissions Director and can be contacted directly at (573) 746-1884 with any questions about referrals. Nicole worked at Hidden Lake Academy and Ridge Creek for over 7 years. She finished her tenure at Hidden Lake and Ridge Creek as the Admissions Director.
CALO is a specialized program dealing with only three types of presenting issues: disorders of attachment, trauma, and affect regulation. Other issues that are secondary to one of these core issues may be appropriate at CALO but only in the course of treating one of CALO's three core specialties. For example, a youth with a primary drug and alcohol dependence diagnosis would not be an appropriate referral. A drug and alcohol dependence that is secondary to a core issue of trauma, attachment, or emotional regulation concerns would be appropriate.
CALO improves the lives of troubled youth by harnessing the power of three central change agents: 1) Relationships, 2) Transferable Attachment, and 3) Experiential successes.
Relationships are the lynchpin to the change process. Family relationships and parenting are directly coached. Staff relationships are utilized for their mentoring power. Therapeutic relationships are leveraged to create a desire for change in the lives of CALO students. Peer relationships are harnessed to create an atmosphere of positive peer pressure.
Transferable Attachment is CALO's name for what is learned through the care of and bonding with purebred dogs. Clinically appropriate youth in the program have an opportunity to "adopt" a dog in the beginning stages of the program. Myriad transferable lessons of self-discipline, healing, commitment, unconditional love, and genuine attachment are learned in the process.
Located on the shores of Lake of the Ozarks, youth are provided a number of aquatic therapeutic recreational activities. It is intended that CALO youth will struggle against water challenges and overcome them with the help of staff and family; learning lessons of trust, bonding, confidence, and self-reliance in the process. This is done through sailing, rowing, canoeing, power watersports, and other aquatic challenges.
CALO subscribes to safe, researched therapeutic practices and does not use holding or provoking interventions.
Just in case any of you want to give Nicole a call and ask her how maternity leave is going. :)

Why wouldn't Nicole and HLA lie about this? They lie about everything else; this is just another one where they were caught doing it...
-
DID SHE HAVE A BABY OR DIDN'T SHE?
-
She's putting it in a iron holding tank for thirteen years before it becomes the age where she feels obligated to hurt it.
-
I really didn't think that she was pregnant...
-
She's putting it in a iron holding tank for thirteen years before it becomes the age where she feels obligated to hurt it.
C'mon, Milk. Be frank with us. What do you really think?
-
I just wish the judge would come back with a ruling. The fact that Nicole's pregnancy or lack there of is being discussed shows how badly we need something of substance to talk about.
If she is pregnant or not is really no ones business.
If she lied about it, who cares? Are we all of a sudden going to say "oh my God, they lie at HLA"? That has been pretty well established don't you think?
-
Nicole was pregnant, had the baby about 2 months ago. She had already planned maternity leave close to due date and after the fact put in her resignation.
-
She's putting it in a iron holding tank for thirteen years before it becomes the age where she feels obligated to hurt it.
Ahh, yes. Sounds familier.
-
Nicole is one of the best people I have ever met- you all must be crazy. She is a dear friend and I am lucky to know her.
-
She was a weak puppet, used poor judgement, lied for her puppetmaster, exhibited absolutely no ethics or morals. Lovely.
-
nicole should have her achilles heels cut with a slow moving jigsaw and forced to walk across the country to every single HLA attendee's house to apologize on her knees and beg for forgiveness.
or maybe her husband should join the entitlement club - you know, the one you join when you do something stupid because you lost your job due to the economy. it's natural selection. darwinism at it's finest. it'll take care of any future mini-fulsangs too! :rocker:
-
However, this should not be about Nicole, because there were alot of 'Nicoles' at HLA...she was just one of the many weak marionettes, and the master pulled the strings...therefore the responsible party is the 'master'. Although Nicole did have a moral and ethical responsibility as did the others, like Charles Cates, to step up and set the record straight, but that is only if one has morals.
