I sort of had a strange compulsion to listen to some of those seminar songs again. It takes me back there and helps me deal with some of the bullshit in a strange way. Anyone else ever do this? Most of the songs are absolutely atrocious, of course; it's done purely for anti-seminar purposes of trying to get myself back to that place so I can remember things I want to remember and think about all the shit that happened there.
I can only remember five, and I hope people can help me remember what other ones they use.
The ones I remember:
John Denver - Sweet Surrender
Cyndi Lauper - True Colors
Eagles - Desperado
Cher - Believe
Right Said Fred - I'm Too Sexy.
A funny list already, and I'm sure it'll only get funnier if anyone can help me out.
Also, if you at Spring Creek from Spring 1999 to January 2000 speak up and say hello.

David Lanz - Cristofori's Dream
this one took me a while to find... the first time i heard it tripped me out. this is the song gilcrease (and the others) would play when you had to come in and sit down and you were all supposed to be seated by the time the song ended. :-?
-
For your information: The Landre Foundation sold a CD with all of the Seminar music on it. The songs supposedly were sung by kids in the program facilities.
I too reminesce when I hear a song from the Seminars. It reminds me how thoroughly duped I was.
I remind myself the music was created for a better purpose than Resource Realization Seminars. The music played repeatedly was all part of the brain wash process. It still works as we can attest to.
-
Wouldn't it be great if the owners of the rights to those songs could be persuaded to tell Gilcrease to cease and desist and then sue the crap out of him if he didn't?
As it is, RIAA can sue him if he's not paying them royalties, since it amounts to an unauthorized performance. I don't much like RIAA, but wouldn't it be nice?

yeah, the song he used for sitting down was the theme from 2001: a space odyssey.
they do have a bizarre sort of emotional brainwashing. mix a lack of sleep and lack of food with the hope of advancement, some songs, emotional troubles, and a lot of other people ready at hand to pick apart your faults, and you have a gilcrease seminar.

Ya know.........I think I remember those being used? Wow, how'd you know Niles?
-
I was being sarcastic.
A program using "the wall" is fucking irony... lmfao. Wouldnt someone get the point???

The line that gets me is 'Hey-teacher, leave those kids alone!'. My sister is a teacher-a good one. I wouldn't dignify Gilcrease, Pullan or any of the others with the title, even if they have a certificate from somewhere (I think Manning-is that her name? does.

Of all the musicians listed here, Pink Floyd would be absolutely enraged to see his music misused like that. Is it still being used today?
Would a Pink Floyd fan please step up to the plate and give some good contact info for him or his lawyers, so the person who was subjected to it in some hellhole can tell him about it?
-
true colors stands out the most in my mind. i don't remember any songs from the wall being used though. during one process when everyone in our group had to pretend to be swans or storks or whatever from jonathan livingston seagull.. oh.. we were supposed to be seagulls so we tore up a bunch of notebook paper to make feathers and then danced around the room to true colors like idiots.. and everyone loved it. by that time in the seminar it was like everyone was three year olds at kindergarten or something... think happy thoughts!

We got it, we got it!!!! Anyway, I don't remember any songs whatsoever. I'm not even sure if we sung any songs or even had any music period? Maybe hypnosis nature sound stuff????? But, we are talking 89-90!

if you want to hit wwasps for copyright infringement the best way to go after them would be because they use personal self help tapes as part of their program. every meal you eat you eat in silence and you ahve to listen to tony robbins, or depak chopra, or the other bullshitter of the day and then write about it later at night. they actually consider this some kind of therapy i guess.. thats the closest to therapy youll get at wwasps. if you have a sick sense of humor im sure its hilarious to think that a bunch of middle class yuppies are sending their kids away to be whareshoused in cheap buildings forced to listen to tony robbins for two yeras straight and endure crazy seminars.. who would think this helps a kid? there are plenty of parents at every seminar so obviously they do.. and a lot of kids continue to go back and staff them and to get that old fashion good feelings from the emotional high of being torn down and built back up as a loveable magical child.. *throwsup*

I had someone who sorta recently came out of WWASPS say "desperado" by the eagles made her have flash backs and freak out... heh

New song from My Chemcial Romance. Definitely should be sung in the Programs!!!
"Teenagers"
They're gonna clean up your looks
With all the lies in the books
To make a citizen out of you
Because they sleep with a gun
And keep an eye on you, son
So they can watch all the things you do
Because the drugs never work
They gonna give you a smirk
'Cause they got methods of keeping you clean
They gonna rip up your heads,
Your aspirations to shreds
Another cog in the murder machine
They said all teenagers scare the living shit out of me
They could care less as long as someone'll bleed
So darken your clothes or strike a violent pose
Maybe they'll leave you alone, but not me
The boys and girls in the clique
The awful names that they stick
You're never gonna fit in much, kid
But if you're troubled and hurt
What you got under your shirt
Will make them pay for the things that they did
They said all teenagers scare the living shit out of me
They could care less as long as someone'll bleed
So darken your clothes or strike a violent pose
Maybe they'll leave you alone, but not me
Ohhh yeah!
They said all teenagers scare the living shit out of me
They could care less as long as someone'll bleed
So darken your clothes or strike a violent pose
Maybe they'll leave you alone, but not me
All together now!
Teenagers scare the living shit out of me
They could care less as long as someone'll bleed
So darken your clothes or strike a violent pose
Maybe they'll leave you alone, but not me

One from my generation:
Supertramp - The Logical Song Lyrics
When I was youngIt seemed that life was so wonderful
A miracle, oh it was beautiful, magical
And all the birds in the treesWell they'd be singing so happily
Oh
joyfully, oh playfully watching me
But then they sent me
awayTo teach me how to be sensible
Logical, oh
responsible, practical
And they showed me a world
Where I could be so dependable
Oh clinical, oh
intellectual, cynical
There are times when all the
world's asleep
The questions run too deep
For
such a simple manWon't you please, please tell me
what we've learnedI know it sounds absurdBut
please tell me who I am

GMDP - Pink Floyd is a group of people. They all have my space accounts. I do a little doubt they themselves read the messages - but someone duz. Maybe you could let them know about this use of the Wall. I suppose the one to contact would be Roger Waters, as the Wall was his opus.
Atomic Ant - always liked that song. I had forgtten all about it.

I dont remember pink floyd in seminars. It would of been way too ironic to not remember. They went for the cheesy stuff. Desperado, yeah, brings back memories of crazed parents who can't get enough of their staffing bullshit.
