Title: Coastal Harbor

Coastal Harbor uses lie detector tests as part of "treatment" for adolescents.  Its a residential psychiatric facility.  They have phases/levels, 5 in all.  They use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.

Video Cameras are used in select areas at Coastal Harbor Treatment Center to monitor patient and staff activity.  This is done to maintain and ensure a safe and secure environment

check it out.. its uber creepy... i learned about it while sitting in court and listening to this crackpot old lady counselor, seriously she looked like a man in drag.

Our goal is to provide care for ages 7 to 17 with psychiatric diagnoses.

Uh.. a bit broad, maybe?

The video cameras are fine by me, because they help protect the students from the staff. Video records can be subpoena'd, after all.

But this one has me guessing:

Length of stay averages 3-8 days for Inpatient Treatment, 1 to 2 weeks for Partial Hospitalization and 1 to 4 weeks for Intensive Outpatient Treatment; however, the length of stay may vary depending on the person?s specific needs.

Not the average hellhole, unless this is complete bullshit, which it may very well be.

Two of the programs are old CEDU programs in the form of ACENT and Boulder Creek Academy.

Did you pick up on the part about the lie detectors?

This association alone is not enough to declare Coastal a 'program.' I noticed Clarion Psychiatric Hospital on their list. This is a legitimate, mainstream psych hosptal. I've been there (not as a patien) and have known patients there (family members).

Universal Health Services seems to own a bunch of facilities that have no other association with each other besides common ownership.

That said, I find it alarming that a mainstream corporation would own so many programs. That will make abusive behavior modification techniques more acceptable to the mainstream and insurance companies and therefore more difficult to stop.
