Post by: Anonymous on October 02, 2006, 09:03:39 PM
My son was diagnosed by his Math teacher to have ADD. He reccemended I look into placing him in an ASPEN owned program. Any info on this organization would be appreciated.

He is a math teacher. He said ignoring teachers plus refusing to do homework plus hyperactivity equals ADD. Besides, he is also a degree in medicine. He changed careers to have a more direct effect on children.

Is Aspen paying him a referral fee?
Report him immediately for practicing without a license. Demand his resignation. If he wants to dx, then he should go back to "medicine".
It's actually illegal in several states now for teacher to dx. They're only allowed to report the behaviors they observe. They can't attach a label to that behavior, and they nor the district can demand the child be dx'd and medicated.
Kids don't learn how to function in the real world in programs. Some have extreme social anxiety when they leave, PTSD, and worse.
There's a whole forum on Aspen. Check the index.

I'm going to give it 2.5. The extra 5/10ths is because I am taking this on as a satire on the role of teachers in getting kids onto drugs.
