Title: ISAC makes online survery available.
Post by: Anonymous on February 07, 2003, 07:53:00 PM
An online survey is now at the ISAC site as there are several doctors interested in doing scientific research into the effects of Straight and Straight like programs.
Feel free to fill it out and give as much or as little information as you wish.

it asks "Did you do more or less drugs after the program?"

What if you didn't do any drugs before the program??? I don't know what to answer.

The survey would be statistically more helpful if it was worded in a format scoring from 1-10 do you agree or disagree with the following statement with 5 being neutral. There should also be a Not Applicable button.

This format would allow for a somewhat answer and, in the long run, be more helpful. I'm not trying to bust your chops because I am really interested in the data also. Another idea is to log the IP people are using as this would help with people stacking the statistics. Not sure if this would be a pain in the ass though.

It would not be confidential if it was logging IP's though. It would be deffinate and useful in court if that ever happened, but I don't think that's what they are trying to do.

I also think that asking for an explanation of why kids were brought in would be helpful, or given options such as

A)Drug addicted
B)Drug Abuse
C)Mental illness
D)Behavioral Disorder
E)Behavioral problems
F)Family problems
G)Other

Race and family income would be interesting too.

Correct me if I am mistaken, but to legally connect my IP address and my personal identification would take my ISP's cooperation.  Usually that takes a court order, I think.  Ginger, or anyone else?//// I know that info can be hacked(illegally, so not admissibly) by a script kiddie if you enter all the silly names and shit Windows asks for and tell the truth.....

No. Your IP address is logged every time you post on these sites and the hosts of each forum can view it. If ISAC is running their site off of their own server, is using someone elses programs that displays IP's or has a link (such as a logo) to their own server then they can view IP's of everyone who visits their sites.

BUT I'm sure nobody has anything to worry about and the people of ISAC have no need for the IP's of people who fill out the survey. The court order thing comes into play in situations when there is something illegal online and the service provider does not have to hand over IP addresses to the authorities unless they've provided a court order first.
