Title: Does Anyone Know How to get a song published/used

A friend wrote two good songs...has no idea where to take them. Anyone have a clue? Also, do you need a copyright or something before you shop it.  

Any info would be great; we are utterly clueless

I've hear that if you mail something to yourself and don't break the seal that it's considered a sort of DIY copywright.... Best of luck!

That "DIY copyright" isn't worth shit.

It's cheap and easy to do it through the copyright office. You don't even need to be formally published first. www.copyright.gov (http://www.copyright.gov)
