I am an eighteen-year-old girl, and an unwed mother. I have a two-year-old son who happens to be the light of my life. But things weren't this way before. When I got pregnant, the father left me. I was completely devastated that I thought of ending the life of my own son--or my own life. I smoked, drank a lot, lived a wasted life. I hardly knew how to pick myself up. Then my parents took a pity of me and took care of me. They helped me transform my life into something of purpose. I involved myself in worthy civic activities and read inspiring books. I also immersed myself in forums where I could get to meet people who were into the same situation as mine. Slowly, I began to enjoy my pregnancy and learned to love myself again. I was able to channel this love to my son.
For those who are into the same situation as mine, just hang on. Learn to appreciate the presence of people around you, especially your parents, for they can be your sources of strength when you feel like you have none. There's always hope for all of us. For more knowledge, you can read. Here's an example I got in the Web: http://http://www.troubledteensinfo.com/Teenage_Sexuality/Teen_Pregnancy/Teen_Pregnancy/. It has one of the most profound discussions on teen pregnancy.
Maintain that brave spirit in you.
