Title: Going to Jamaica Early Monday Morning.
Post by: Bob on June 02, 2006, 05:32:00 PM
I will be escorting a 14 year- old young man to To Tranquility Bay on Monday. He is a severe case. He assaulted both his parents! Now, who can tell me he does not need a program? Be honest now.

Honest now it is.  Clearly some outside help is needed in the family, but ...
what is the nature of the "assault"?  Did he strike one or both of them after they struck him?  Did they do anything to provoke what you call an assault?  Do you even know anything about the boy or his family other than his age, address, and how much you will be paid to take him out of his home country, away from the protection of US laws and "program" supervision (lax as it is in some instances) ... and to a place that hardly has a good reputation for care, concern and therapeutic help of the teens they confine to their premises.

The FAMILY needs a program of help.  Maybe the boy should go to a special facility, but there is zip (as in nothing, nada, zilch) you've written that comes anywhere close to the conclusion you've accepted to salve your conscience for getting the boy well screwed.

It is ---es like you who contribute to the bad.

I get paid to transport. I am not a nosy body. The program will address his situation. He is going to a program, not going to live with my family

I can say he doesn't need a program because treating people violently makes them more, not less likely, to continue to be violent.

I can say he doesn't need a program because the research shows that what *does* reduce violent and sociopathic behavior is community-based therapies like multisystemic family therapy and functional family therapy and multidimensional family therapy.

There are multiple controlled trials finding that these reduce recidivism better than juvenile prison-- and they have been tested on the "hard cases," not only on kids with mild-moderate problems who tend to get better no matter what you do.

You should be ashamed of yourself for making money on the pain of others and putting kids in situations that are more likely to make them more dangerous, not less.

Bob, you lack even a smidgen of professionalism.  Would the families appreciate you posting their business online?  You may not be overly nosy, but you sure are breaking confidentiality, showing a complete lack of respect for the child and parents, and you're challenging the rest of us to either rip apart the parents who are paying you or else their child.  You are tacky and trashy.

I would not trust you to use good judgment around a child, especially one in a fragile, emotional state.

Help yes. Program No. Nobody 'needs' a program and nobody needs you or your kind.

Bob if you transport that child to Tranquility Bay you will be perpetuating a crime. CRIME.

They do not help children who need help .

How much are you being paid. I will pay you NOT to take the boy to TB. Shame on you.

And your opinion that the kid needs a program is based on your GED? You don't even know if the parents are telling the truth. Do you know if the kid is mentally ill? Do you know if the violence is the result of improper medication? Do you know if the violance is the result of a sexual assault? Do you know if the behaviour was the result of alchohol or drugs. Do you know if the violance was the result of a medical condition. There are about seventy other questions that place his behaviour in context. The kd need professional evaluation, not revenge. The egregious choice of program bespeaks the neglect and emotional abandonment this kid has lived with for the fourteen years of his life. Bob, you have a right to make a living. Berger King is hiring.

Just a thought but......Maybe the family needs to find what negitive points are in his life and help him wrk through them..instead of shipping him off..letting others do... what they should do as a parents...My child was also a severe case as you call it ..I was asulted  many times by my child..but she remained in my home and under my care as a parent...I spent sleepless hrs sitting by her side helping her deal with what was going on in her life..But hey ya know what that was when she was 14-19 she is now 21 and doing great and very happy. And Thanks me everyday for standing beside her..she even wrote a paper in college on her biggest influence and hero and that was her MOM

The Escort was rough but all is well that ends well. Had to keep the cuffs on him most of the trip. We toldhim HE would decide how he got there. He chose to go in cuffs most of the trip.

Do you know Mr.Billy?

Quote
Mr. Billy is the person who transports children. He transports girls alone which doesn?t seem right to me. When my mom came to pick me and another girl up from CSA, she saw Mr. Billy get into a van alone with a girl.

One of the girls at CSA was transported to Tranquility Bay in Jamaica while I was there. The contract my mom signed says they can send kids there without even getting the parents? permission. They say they will try to reach the parents but if they can?t get a hold of them then the kids can be transported there and they can get a passport for the kids. And if that happens, the parents are responsible to pay for everything.
