Title: SUNHAWK "ACADEMY", St George, Utah
Post by: Anonymous on December 20, 2002, 02:32:00 AM
On 12-07-2002, after paying Sunhawk Academy
$15,000.00 + escort fees from San Diego, here's
what they caused "neglectfully". Girls running away from physical and mental abuse!!!
They abandoned my (passenger) daughter to sleep 3 nights on the floor of juvenile hall, then I had to fly to St George, another $5,000 to the Morons who control the courts, $5,000 to the attorney referred to me by the court (who vanished up till today), medical bills approx $10,000. Sunhawk refused to have their insurance pay, or fire the "teacher" who virtually gave the keys to the youngsters!!!!
Also, the police there "chased" the kids at very high speeds and caused the crash.Mind you, all of St George is one big gang, run by one clan. :flame:

Girls nabbed after theft, I-15 chase
Juveniles accused of taking car, wrecking it
By RACHEL OLSEN

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

ST. GEORGE -- A high-speed chase ended in two arrests Friday at mile marker 26 on Interstate 15 in Arizona.

The two juvenile girls, who were taken into custody at 11:04 Friday morning, were transported to the hospital as a precautionary measure after the chase ended in a single-vehicle accident, according to the Utah Highway Patrol.

After a car was reported stolen from Sunhawk Academy earlier Friday morning, the St. George Police Department sent out an attempt to locate on the vehicle, said Craig Harding, spokesman for the St. George Police Department.

The car was located on Hilton Drive, but proceeded to I-15 when officers attempted to pull over the suspects.

Speeds reached 100 to 110 mph as the vehicle was chased southbound on I-15, Harding said.

The chase was taken over by Utah Highway Patrol before the car crashed into a ditch off the side of I-15.

Arizona troopers were getting ready to help in the pursuit of the vehicle and place spikes in the road to help end the chase, but the vehicle crashed before they could do so, according to Arizona dispatchers.

Just be glad things happened as they did, afterall if they had not it is likely you would not even recognize the abusive environment that those kinds of programs are.

Anyone who says they can take your kid and change them for any amount of money is lying. People don't change because other people want them to change at least not for the better. You can take a healthy normal teen and turn them into a monster with enough abuse, but you could never force them into being happy.

If your daughter was abused there, sue the bastards, if they went back on their promises, sue the bastards. The police are not supposed to engage in high speed chases except when absolutely necesary (like to catch a serial killer or something, you should probably sue the police there too. I know that in many states, maybe not utah, it is illegal for police to continue a chase in excess of certain speeds or to chase at all in some cases.

For something like a car theft there is no reason at all to chase anyone especially at those speeds. The reality is that the whole city is dependent on the teen torture industry and they knew that if those girls escaped there would be consequences.

I hope you have learned your lesson about these programs and how dangerous they are. Just be glad your daughter managed to escape.

St. George Utah is the heart of demon we fight so to speak. That is where the Lichfields run their evil empire of teen concentration camps. I never heard of Sunhawk academy but I imagine that if it is in St. George, WWASP aka Teen Help  (run by Lichfield) has to be connected to it somehow or another.

"It was the end of the Earth year 2260, and the war had paused, suddenly and unexpectedly. All around us, it was as if the universe were holding its breath, waiting. All of life can be broken down into moments of transition or moments .. of revelation. This had the feeling of both."

"G'Quon wrote: There is a greater darkness than the one we fight. It is the darkness of the soul that has lost its way. The war we fight is not against powers and principalities, it is against chaos and despair. Greater than the death of flesh is the death of hope. The death of dreams. Against this peril we can never surrender. The future is all around us, waiting in moments of transition, to be born in moments of revelation. No one knows the shape of that future, or where it will take us. We know only that it is always born in pain."

Sunhawk is owned by Aspen Education Group.  Totally unrelated to WWASP.

wow!  the police caused the accident or were the teens breaking all the laws of driving?  i would probobly say the police were doing there job.

no teenager would ever wnat to go to a treatment center of any kind.  be honest.  but the teenage years are the years of stupidity.  that is why they need other people to think for them.

oh and lets not forget that all the fee's were caused as a result of the daughters actions.  hello:::: casue and effect.

life is full of choices. do things the wrong way and you will pay.

Actually the idea that the teenage years are full of turmoil, rebellion, feelings of invincibility, and general stupidity, is a purely American invention and a recent on at that.  The fact is that teenagers are regarded by their society based on their usefullness or lack thereof.

In years past teenagers were a vital part of the economy since they provided cheap labor, became apprentices, assisted with the family farm, and things like that. In addition teens would  have married and started families of their own by the time they were 20 or so. The average life expectency was also only about 35 or 40 though.

With mass schooling and the gradual societal shift towards including teenagers as "children", society needed reasons to justify these policies of keeping them children longer and closing off avenues for "early adulthood". The media, and 'experts' provided it. Sturm and Drang became the accepted theory for not only adolescents but also blacks, chinese immigrants, mexicans, and indians.

Today teenagers are still regarded far more as a burden on adults than as useful or necesary as they were regarded in the past. Therefore like any inconvenient minority they are easy to scapegoat and target with punitive restrictions.

In some ways it is a self-fulfilling prophecy. Tell teens they are too immature to live as adults and throw them in a kafkaesque loony bin (aka a highschool) for 8 hours a day with nothing much to do except socialize, and take orders and they likely will act just as badly as expected. In reality though, despite the dire predictions of the experts and media of teen behavior, teens are better behaved statisticly today, than their parents were at their age, and as many statistics demonstrate even at their middle age.

No teen will check themselves into "treatment", well who would check themselves into a place they were not allowed to leave.

Besides what kind of person would check themselves into an unlicensed, barely regulated system of nontraditional treatment with a history of fatalities and rampant mental, physical and sexual abuse and no empirical evidence whatsovever to show that such treatment is effective.

Heres a scenario: My name is Bob and I got into a little trouble with the law, I was smoking a joint and the cops busted me, I was given probation and I really don't want to fuck it up so I look into some kind of mild treatment mainly just to get me away from the bad influences for a while.  I hear about wildnerness programs and I figure a little time hiking in the woods will probably be fun.

However when I get there I find I am stuck in there with 7 other kids whose problems range from similar to my own, to a girl who was sent there because her stepdad was raping her and she told her mother who did not believe her and she ended up being sent away. Another boy (13) there was adopted when he was seven after his birth mother beat him and left him in sqaulor for three weeks before the neighbors found him and called social services. He has been in and out of therapy since then and his adopted parents just don't know what else to do. Then there is a girl who is there because she is anorexic but her parents think she is thin from using cocaine. A negative drug test did not convince them otherwise because the program advisor explained to them that cocaine does not stay in your system very long and there are products you can buy on the internet to clear it up fast.

The staff are a whole other story. 2 out of 3 of them are just a few years older than us and their only qualification is having gone through the same program the year before and they got their cpr certificates and the other in his mid twenties started telling us about how he is an ex-special forces who is there to track us down if we run away and convince our parents we need to do the whole program again if we don't cooperate.

The rest of the kids include a boy with diagnosed bipolar disorder, one with mild depression, and another who is a obscessive compulsive and needs to wash his hands 25 times in a row and his parents think this will make him relax. The last kid got caught with a few ounces of weed at school and this was part of his probation before judgement plan, and his parents picked this as the program.

This kind of mix is about accurate from the experiences of many of the people who have been to these programs so why don't you tell me who to tent with because I can't decide whether I want the pot dealer, the abused kid, or one of the mental disorders to sleep next to. Needless to say after the always pleasant strip search and the lectures about running away from seargent psycho, I am looking forward to my solo.

Teens can't think for themselves?
As far as I am concerned 9 out of 10 people I meet cannot think for themselves. If breathing were voluntary, most of them would suffocate because trying to read a Dr. Suse book would be too much for them too handle while remembering to breath.

allright one thing i would like to say. one--when teens are sent to these camps they arent force to be happy! these camps help these kids find happyness- as a 16 yr old i went to one--in idaho, called suws. it was hell and i hated it but i survived, and after that my life has been nothing but better. so these "concentration camps" do work, whatever anyone says becuase im a prime example.

buuut with that said...i would like to agree with you with what you said about how absurd thoes camps are..its a hard sitation to put into words becuase its mostly like a love-hate relationship with SUWS. but i hated it so much that a girlfriend and i ran away and there was a huuge chase. (practically everyone runs away there--the most succesful one was to gooding--aha its like a legend there!) but one kid ran away and the people at SUWS busted out the huntin dogs to track them down. i mean COME ON! uughh

but one of my closest friends goes to sunhawk right now--he went straight there after SUWS...and he says it sucks so bad!!   if anyone wants to email me with any questions my email is UNCgal2331@aol.com

i survived "treatment" at sunhawk as well as aspen achievement so mabey i could provide some insight.

the staff consist mostly of "small town" mormon folk who know nothing about being a drug addict or how to  treat one.  they are invalidating and emotionaly abusive to say the least.  if you would even want youth to look up that kind of person you just might be a twisted individual themselves.  i can also say that it is much more devistating to a bright young adult then to a non-critical thinker.  i was restrained countless times often for speeking my mind (non-threatning/insulting) but further more the rules say you would be restrained  if you were a threat to yourself or others. i would be restrained for "not sitting up enough"

they pushed me to a non-aspen programe for being a "negative leader"  but the truth is i was far to critical of a thinker for such a small town. half the times i was being repremanded for things not a single staff member could name.  now granted i put that weight on myself, that still does not make these "treatment" programmes any better at what they do.  they refused to put me on adderal (like i was in the past, and it helped me when i took it) because it was "just like cocaine" as said by the crackpot psychiatrist.  i was sleeping all the time, failed every class (except late night calc, got an A)....turns out not only am I ADD im also kinda NARCOLEPTIC....mabey thats why i sleep all the time????? what do u think utah???  now i take my prescription speed and an anti-deppresant and i am succsesfully learning advanced web-development. i needed a good psychiatrist who would be on-site monitoring the recovering addicts who just might have latent problems  they treated me like an angry 14 year old who was defiant (i was almost 18 and only wanted love/liberty)

the way to get a youth off drugs is to have them do what they love most; music, computers, art, writing....show them how great life is with asperations

the anger/rage i feel as a result of sunhawk is unmatched by anything in my life, i had never been  a bigot. always thought small town morman folk were alright, I WAS WRONG. they love what they do, they think their "helping" people.  st. george's biggest money is in these programs, its their whole economy.  the fascist police would nearly kill the youth to protect this vital income.
this is fundamentaly unsettling.  utah just got introuble for censoring the internet, these are those mormans....

i know im ganna get some "im morman and we blah blah blah for the right reasons"  but you know what??? its always the right reasons hun, be it war, greed, politics, censorship...so screw your reasons, SCREW UTAH and F*CK MORMANS

Hmm. Whether to send your son to a brainwashing camp full of really sick child abusers who operate off of truly bizarre, disturbed principles and are guaranteed to seriously hurt him, or not?

I don't know! Maybe you should read the rest of Fornits before you make such a hard decision.

Unfortunately, you won't find much help on this website - my advice is to continue doing research and meeting the people at the facilities to determine where the best fit is for your son.  This website you've stumbled on will only give you criticism for even considering placement.  These are some angry kids...

I am a parent, not from this facility though. My dd had a terrible experience and we know now we risked her life by not knowing what a scam this industry is. Please talk to your family dr. Get a referral to a community agency. Go to family counselling.

No, what we're doing is challenging parents to use some critical thinking skills and see this industry for what it is.  A money making sham.  I'm 42, went through a program over 20 years ago that nearly destroyed my life.  I'm the parent of two grown children, one of whom scared the living shit out of me for about 6 years or so, so I'm not talking out of my ass here.

Its real easy to simply dismiss what's said here because of the volatility, but if you slow down for a minute and think about what these kids have been through.  They're angry for a reason.  A good one.  If you're a parent, it should be important enough to you to sift through the so called 'bullshit' to find the meat of the issue.

Don't send your child away.  I would have much preferred juvie to a program.  It doesn't fuck with your soul as much.

It is sometimes hard to read here because the pain is so palpable. But i have learned a tremendous amount reading here in the past month. Its not pretty reading, but any parent who realizes how many programs, how many kids have similar experiences and that a clear pattern emerges. We had no idea. A parent who is warned here may save their own child the suffering our child experienced.

Since this is a necropost, and we don't usually get necrotrolls here (especially on specific programs), I'm going to take this at face value.

You might want to elaborate before you expect any real answers. We can give the names of various therapies and ideas- family functional therapy, accept and understand that your son seriously hates and/or fears you, etc- but without details, how can we give you advice? Going on Fornits and asking for some sort of magic bullet is like going to a doctor and saying "My son has cancer and these guys with their chants and potions say they can cure it, can YOU do the same?!" Of course we can't. Despite whatever the quacks have told you, THERE ARE NO EASY SOLUTIONS. NO ONE CAN FIX YOUR KID. The attempt will probably leave you several thousand dollars poorer and your kid with a lifelong hatred of you. The angry Anonymi of Fornits are proof of this.

Here's an idea I bet you haven't tried: "Hey, son? We've become seriously fucking desperate here, so desperate that we're looking to send you to untrained cult nutjobs from Utah to torture you for several months." Go on, tell him. No, seriously. See what happens! Send him to Fornits for a while. That has some stark jolting effects.

Maybe- just maybe- it will get you talking with him in real terms instead of the usual parental high-handed crap vs. teen deflection dance.

Parent: Please be careful of chosing programs, especially out of State.
The State of Utah, in cases of Abuse or Neglect, do nothing.
For instance a few months ago a 14 yr old boy with disablitys died in a Aspen Program, due to Neglect, they did not take his medical problems seriously, and he died alone in a room with a mattress on the floor.
With a medical problem, that could have been taken care of instead they did nothing.  Read on Fornits the Youth Care threads. This is common to happen.  What happened when licensing finds they did not follow procedure, put them on a 90 day suspension, they will try to make it ok, and are back in business.  Most times they shut the program down, and open with a new name, and go merrily on.
Aspen is owned by a California corporation, yet there are not any programs, schools, thereputic programs in California, they are in Utah why? Because California does not allow abuse.
Licensing in Utah says "we need a national language for child abuse".
???? What about kids dieing needlessly when they could have been preventable.
It is not just deaths, most youth have many mental abuses, and it does not go away.
You may find that your child will be much worse than when he/she went.
Just a few insights to sending your child to a program, I wish I had the power to write all the data, but I do not.
I have lost someone in my family to these programs, and it never leaves your life.

Can I send my son to fornits instead of a program then? Is it cheaper?

I still see parents are sending thier children to concentration camps with happy names. It may have been 10 years ago when I got out of Sunhawk Academy (pre Aspen) but it still effects me everyday, and to think it was one of the better programs.. There have been news stories both on TV and in newspapers about these places and nothing really has been done and people still send thier children to them. What the fuck is wrong with parents? Being a parent myself now I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that I will never send my child to one of these places, hell there is a list online of children that have been KILLED at these places! As a parent I BEG you seek counciling not just for your child but family as well... the teen years are hard (don't you remember them?) body confusion, hormones, peer presure, and all the rules you have to pay attention to don't you remember your rebellion, your angst, being pissed off cause you weren't a child but you weren't an adult, the hypocrisies that you saw on a daily basis... Wait a minute... that means its .. wait for it... normal!!! Now I'm not saying that there arn't good programs... I'm sure there may be... but my guess is that its the one that is out patient and around the corner not some hellhole hundreds or thousands of miles away... and they don't tell you that you shouldn't believe anything your child says about the program cause they're just trying to manipulate you and they should NOT say that tough love means that you have to be a emotionally dead to your child's needs (matter of fact fuck tough love.. just LOVE damnit!)... and they arn't going to tell you that all of your child's belongings are from their 'old negative' life and need to be thrown away and they arn't going to tell you that you have to keep things like family deaths and births a secret until the child gets out of the program, and they arn't going to make a child stand up in front of you and tell in detail everything that they've done in their life against their will just so they can get the fuck out. Sorry this has gotten to be a long rant but I will stop here as I could continue and turn the damn thing into a book using my experiences in the almost year I was locked away in hell.

Sorry this has gotten to be a long rant but I will stop here as I could continue and turn the damn thing into a book using my experiences in the almost year I was locked away in hell.
