Title: No Security
Post by: Anonymous on January 23, 2006, 01:07:00 PM
Some people claim to dislike this forum because they prefer the false sense of security offered on the straight_inc_alumni board (where they think that there can be no anonymous posting) instead. This is FALSE because that board is set up so that anyone can join it & with as many IDs as they care to join with. So despite the impression that everyone is a known member over there, there is little more accountability than there is here. Once a person makes three posts to that group that are plausible there is no further screening after that, and away they go...

Good point. It doesn't take THAT high of an I.Q. to be a con artist anywhere on the internet. Of the few i have ever contacted from here, I know them well enough to know they are the real deal, but unfortunitly(sp?) some of them are dumb enough to fall for some of the scams that have come along over the years. Cops have gotten Straight survivors to give out information and stuff to people who are actually law enforcement keeping notes on the criminal types which they know historically are spawned from institutions like straight. It's a matter of public safety, they have to. Also, former staffers come around here and also on that Alumni forum who are coming because they miss abusing people; to be specific, they like to talk to former phasers who will easily submit to the staff/phaser role in a relationship and let the former staffer confront them about their shortcomings, and more. Or, they get information and then make fun of the person to their other former straight friends. It happens all the time.

Yeah, no kidding. I don't know if I buy the idea that there's a special taskforce assigned to babysit us reprobates just because we were in a program. How-some-ever, we are, collectivly pissing in the faces of some pretty powerful and ruthlessly vindictive people. We know how fucked up they are, don't we all, chillin's? Shit, what are we talking about but a monumentally fucked up group of sadistic lunatics w/ money and power to burn?

Honest to God, I apreciate the attention and company, wit and (dare I say) friendship of my worst troll/stalker ever far more than the likes of those sadistic, sanctimonious assholes.

But yeah, it's a big bad world out there and there are bad guys in it. PLEASE don't take the idea that the net is a safe little sand box to play in or that everybody who posts to this little corner of it is just what they say they are and purely kind and decent. That would be foolish. In general, here or elsewhere, don't trust anybody any more than you know them or more than they warrant.

But what about the cops? Personally, I don't know of any for sure. But what if some proud program grad is now an elite taskforce snitch looking for dirt? On some level, they must know they're fighting for the wrong side. One of the frequent pittfalls of undercover work is that the cop gets wrapped up and warped in the drama, picks up addictions and other bad habits, comes to genuinely love and respect the targets and, very often, has a total breakdown of concience and lucidity.

So what do you do if you suspect your new friend is an All American Finking Freddy? Tell them the truth about the Program. And you might consider encouraging them to contact Howard Wooldridge of LEAP http://LEAP.cc/ (http://LEAP.cc/) (hint, hint!)

Just don't invest in them any more trust than they have earned from you. Who do you think is easier to turn; a cop who thinks he's fighting on the side of good in working for the Semblers'/Büsh's inteterests or one of us who's just trying to let the world know what's going on inside those private and public gulags?

Here's the ticket for me. I don't hate cops. With very few exceptions, I don't really hate anybody. I think most cops are terribly misguided in trying to fight war on people who prefer TBPITW over another round of 12oz curles. But not all of them (see LEAP reference above). They are, after all, real live human beings underneath the fascade.

I am an atheist, out and out. It took me a long time to say it. I've been an atheist for years and years, but somehow I felt it was intellectually unrespectable to say that one is an atheist, because it assumed knowledge that one didn't have. Somehow it was better to say one was a humanist or agnostic. I don't have the evidence to prove that God doesn't exist, but I so strongly suspect that he doesn't that I don't want to waste my time.
