Title: Micheal Patterson
Post by: Anonymous on January 11, 2006, 04:20:00 PM
Micheal Patterson ( Milton Roy, Morgan Yacht, October 1977 to August 1979) passed away in the early morning hours of January 11th 2006.  He graduated from Dixie Hollins High School and served as vice president of the 7 step society.
He set a record at Busch Gardens for the most people in a carload during a 98 Rock promotion.
Twenty Three people crammed into his 1975 Galaxy 500, including three in the trunk, in a McDonalds parking lot, and then endured the 5 block ride to the ticket booth.  The admission was 20 dollars a carload, so we all got in for the unbelievable price of just .85 cents.

I will try to post the official obiturary as soon as it becomes available.

Truely sorry to hear about this. I stayed at his house on a refresher or after I was started over once (something or another) Of course I cant remember who was my "oldcomer", it was either Mike, Bob, or Scotty.

I never saw eye to eye with Mike. But thier was always a certain respect for him. He did things I didnt agree with (like organizing a campaign to shut down head shops in the county) but still I had a respect for him. Amazing to me how one person could pull something together like that and just about pull it off.

I feel for 85DJ...I know they have had an estranged relationship as step brothers, but a loss is a loss.

I am quessing that he lived in St.Pete area, will check the obits and will see about paying my respects.

thanks woof-a - doof, you said it better than I could.  RSP Mike.  Mike was never my oldcomer, but I was a drop-off at his house.  The best thing about the drop off was I was able to sleep some.  The worst of course, was the "pillow" fights.

Mike was living in Brooksville, but my father is down here already and is pretty thorough, so there will most likely be a write-up in the St. Pete Times in the next couple of days.  I have to go to Traffic Court tonight and will call my dad afterwards because he said that by then he should have all the details.

Me and Mike were close for a brief time during my Junior year in high school while we were both on our phases.  After we 'stepped' and he graduated high school it was like a fierce competition to see who was the most acceptable.  Like the time I came home with my first car, a '72 Gran Torino, and Mike comes roaring up the street with 6 day old mud still caked to the sides of his car from the big Tubing Trip a bunch of us did at Weeki Wachee.  I was just finishing up waxing the trunk, and he runs in the house, comes out with a can of Comet for christs sake and douses his car with it.  Sure, it came clean as a whistle in just 5 minutes and he tore off down the street with his buddies, but it developed a SERIOUS case of acne the next time after it rained.

I never wrote much about my step-brothers and few people understood the delicate powder-keg I lived under.  My dad may have made the money, but their mom wore the pants and made pretty good money of her own managing a dress shop in Pinellas Square Mall.  Even though I lived with my birth father, it was always THEIR home, and I was never allowed to forget it. Writing about it is not really painful, but it does bring up alot of anger.  All I can do is bite the bullet and just get through this.

Oxycontin and Valiums......do they mix?  I sure as hell would'nt take the two together to find out.  Nobody is saying anything about it as is par for the course for the family.  They will all just sit back and enable each other into early graves.  The service was pretty nice.  They actually opened and closed the Memorial with "Freebird" from the fairly rare Mussel Shoals album done by Lynyrd Skynyrd.  It was done very economically as well.  The viewing was held from 9 to 10 a.m. (I did not attend, as I have enough nightmares as it is) followed by the Easy Bake Oven Time.  His ashes were probably still warm as they sat in the urn durning the Memorial Services held at 2p.m.  He left behind an older wife and six foster children, 5 of which he had adopted.  I feel sorry for them.  I brought along a bag containing 70 or so Hot Wheels Collector Series Muscle cars that I had collected over the years.  It was the least I could do, and the jerk came out when I presented them to their mom at the reception held in Lutz and they turned the uncle's lakeside home into the freaking Indy 500, bouncing racecars off of many a dress shoe covered adults foot!

So many people just letting themselves go like that.In a spiritual sense, the greatest tragedy in life is one cannot love ones self as those around him do.I rmember having lunch with him and his kid brother at Clearwater Mall in the mid '80s.No talk about Str8,no talk about steps.People needed him amongst the living!

Goddamn..This seems to be the number one killer drug combo ever.Opiates and benzos..
Ill never forget Xmas of 2003 I went down to the methadone clinic to get my holiday meds for the next few days..there were 2 sisters that attended the clinic, one had very young daughters that sometimes came with her ( they were too young to realize they were at a mmt clinic)
Anyway one of the sisters ( I never caught their names) was telling me how the counselor was bitching her out about taking xanax with her methadone..I told her that that was a dangerous combo and be careful + have a good xmas and all..
I got my doses and left..and the next week I came back and found out she had been found dead on xmas
morning of an OD.
Ive known 4 or 5 people to die from this.

Id bet money he didnt do it on purpose. I dont know him..but like I said alot of people die accidentaly
on this combo. People get a tolerance to the opiates
and try to boost with benzos..
Not trying to be rude here, but I cant think of a more painless way to go..

Regardless of how it happened, you are still left with a sadness and regret for all that was not said and done. For you Bob I am truly saddened for your loss. I hope you can find peace with Michael now.
God be with you
Samantha
