"Walking wounded"????
Ahem, maybe I missed it buried deep in a thread somewhere but...uh...what prompted the forum name change??[ This Message was edited by: Me on 2005-10-10 16:14 ]

Like it?
The Christian faith from the beginning, is sacrifice: the sacrifice of all freedom, all pride, all self-confidence of spirit; it is at the same time subjection, a self-derision, and self-mutilation.
--Freidrich Nietzsche, German philosopher

Before I answer, was I the first to notice or did I really miss some discussion, an announcement, etc?
-
No, it was unilateral.
I can very well do without God both in my life and in my painting, but I cannot, suffering as I am, do without something which is greater than I am, which is my life, the power to create.
--Vincent Van Gogh, Dutch painter

Personally speaking (hey, you asked!) I don't prefer the scent of the 'rise from the ashes-phoenix' sort of perseverance that the term "survivor" infers, and "walking wounded" somehow paints a picture that I am still lamely inadequate and continue to suffer now as I did then. Yesterday's pain was worse than that of today by far. Speaking personally, a host home then was/is far worse than my present day living room. I like the term veteran, I think I learned that from you several, several years ago.
I wouldn't throw in my .02, but you asked!!

Come to think of it, I don't care much for the survivor thing either. Vet does make more sense and is more dignified.
Walking wounded, though... well, I do want them to feel welcome.
But what's with the simpering tone, dude? Like I'm gonna fall apart over a suggestion? Puh-leeeze!
The right to do something does not mean that doing it is right.
--William Safire

Then again, Vet also implies (to the thoughtful reader) that there are bound to be some walking wounded among us.
At present there is not a single credible established religion in the world.

Hey, I just noticed the change, I like I like...
Not that you're "going to fall apart" or anything, it's just easier for me to be humble and "simpering"...
Are you calling me a pussy???[ This Message was edited by: Me on 2005-10-10 21:31 ]

Why answer the question with another question?
You are stupid.
