Do you think that any of our creative ability comes from Str8? I mean we talk a lot about the negative aspects of sTr8...but what about the positive (albeit unintentional results)?
For example...I tend to be a very creative thinker... I have also heard NCL and Withdraw mention the same thing (i.e. thinking outside the box). I sat on first phase for 15 months of my 22 months of hell...during that time I became very adept at keeping my mind occupied (that is when I wasn't fantasizing about suicide

I think I always had a strong creative streak before Straight, which showed up mostly in my obsession with music and clothes (as a form of self expression), and having my own ideas about everything. Straight repressed all creativity....it was practically forbidden!
But oddly...my creative side really grew in a lot of ways while in Straight. I remember riding in the car to the building how I got lost in admiring the simple beauty that is abundant in the world that I never noticed quite as profoundly as I had before Straight...nature became an art form to me so to speak...Plants, trees, the sky, etc all look beautifully different....
After Straight, my creative outlet became photography...of course my obsession with music and clothes and thinking for myself came back fairly quickly.
And now "professionally"...my creative/thinking outside the box side shows when asked to solve problems or come up with new ideas, etc. It has also showed in law school too....in of all places...legal research and writing assignements.
Funny thing...I remember in college classes and other "professional" internships/jobs how sometimes people try to actually teach the idea of thinking outside the box...I laugh to myself because although I obviously think those people have the right idea...thinking outside the box or "coloring outside the lines" cant be taught...either you have it or you dont.
And yes...I think sprituality can be connected to creativity (I have experienced this) though I wouldnt say it always is.
Here's a general theory I have---I bet a lot of kids put in Straight were creative...creative people often are misunderstood and labled as "troublemakers."

I like your thinking NCL...we were all probably creative b4 Stra8...
but I also know that I could go on a number of adventures in an open meeting without leaving my blue chair... I fought dragons, travelled around Hawaii, exlored the pyramids...and saved the world...all in time to hear my parents stand me up and say "I feel....about ...because..."
My imagination flourished in that place because that is all that I had...but maybe it was already there...I was just tapping into it...

That is exactly what I was getting at.

I would get in my head for weeks on end. I designed starships, developed fleet tactics for space battles, and created a post-Apocalyptic reality filled with mutants.

Something you might want to think about creatively is why you have cut off your balls and donated them to the cause of Straight.

Yes, please do mail your balls to my sister, who has the cleverness to sew them into a hackey sackey and kick them around. Very Van Gogh of you. Tres pathetique.

I was thinking more along the lines of donating them to her ::kma::

Your unneeded, unused, non-functional balls that you wish to donate are of no use to anyone's ass but your own. However, again, yes, please, mail them to my sister. After you do, and she makes fun cohonay sackays from the vestiges of your manhood, and kicks them around on the town square with the other lovers of ball-kicking games, I will be sure to request a video production of this enjoyment of your balls and post it here so that not only you but everyone else can see that your balls are good for something after all.

Once again...while I appreciate the sentiment of Anon #2 please stop talking about my balls! I assure you that they are fully functional...and I am rather attached to them... (if you doubt me...I am willing to demonstrate)
But as for that silly anon #1 poking at me b/c I think that there may be positive (yet unintended) effects from Str8...
Well, I have another positive consequence from Str8 - - - - I have stopped taking shit from bullies and ...so you can kiss my

Why is this thread appearing so strangely? Does it look weird to others?
-
Yeah the thread is getting skinny...

Er, no thanks. I get the impression that you are not very physically fit. You're kind of the dopey, loveable foolish guy when you walk in to your meetings. All the 12-step cult women think "oh there's that dopey, lovable noodle guy. Thank goodness, I can use him for a snot rag later."
