I remember eating alot of Hamburger Helper at the host home. Peanutbutter and jelly, some kind of fruit and a granola bar for lunch, then dinner was whatever slop they decided to serve. and on the grosser than gross post I remember the warm tap water to drink.

Yeah and they were all piled up in one corner of the intake room too.

I remember the pile of brown paper bags containing smashed pbj sandwiches and bruised fruit...to this day I still refuse to eat peanut butter and i'm still not a big fruit fan either. I dont remember getting anything else in the host home either...it I did it was so rare that I would never remember...

"All phaser lunches will consist of a sandwich and a piece of fruit"
What the sandwhich look like depended on the host home...I still remeber the double decker PB&J's and the sandwhiched that contained meat...they usually came from the out of town homes that didn't have to supply lunch every day...
I remember one time that I got to have a submarine sandwich in my lunch...I was king of the 1st phasers...
We had dinner at the host home on Wednesday and Sunday morning...
Food ruled my life in that place...I was ALWAYS hungry...

oh yeah and a crappy "snack" at the HH the rest of the time...I don't recall what it was but it was rarely much...
-
...Uh ...where am i ?? Is this the "grosser than gross" thread or the "food we ate" thread ?? i'm gettin' confused. Anyway the egg salad sandwhiches we had for dinner were rancid, nasty and vile.

At my first host home my oldcomer had a former eating disorder and was very weight conscious. She dictated what our host parents bought for our lunches. So each day my lunch consisted of rice cakes with peanut butter and an apple. To top it all off a "good paper cup of warm water with floaties".

i know, Withdraw, like this time i refused to write my M.I. and so the host parents refused to feed me that night. Ever'one else around me was fed a decent meal while i jus' sat there 'n watched. i reported them the next day and heard they got stood up in parent rap, for whatever that was worth, not much. Thing that kills me is my folks are still friends with those fuckers.
i also remember the whole "by the courtesy of your humble host home may i please..." At one point when i was on consequences i had to ask for each square of toilet paper that way.
Fuck Str8. Fuck all authority. Peace.

In Michigan we only ate dinner at the building on Monday's and Fridays. For the most part my host homes fed me good dinners. My 3rd host home as a newcomer is where I gained weight. My oldcomer's mom was not allowed to open a host home so she would visit us and hook us up with lots of food. I've never liked hotdogs except while in straight. We would come home and eat several hotdogs with the cheese inside, a few peanut butter and marshmellow sandwiches, microwave popcorn and lotsa pop. It was the highlight of first phase. I was always hungry too there.

I remember one host home having pancakes, sausage and eggs almost every Sunday, then I got started over and was put in a real shitty host home....I still have a resentment to this day.
My view is that if there is no evidence for it, then forget about it. An agnostic is somebody who doesn't believe in something until there is evidence for it, so I'm agnostic.

I'd like to thank everyone who already spoke for sharing about a past incident involving food. I really got a lot out of it.

Man, I forgot about the eating stuff.
I too was vegetarian. I ate bread.. I also begged the nurse for crackers...I remember they had stoned wheat crackers..they were awesome.
I still have anxiety when I think about the pile of lunches. Always afraid someone else would get the sandwich I made. I definately have weirdness about my food now, I don't like to share etc....never occured to me that it stemmed from straight.
HH had no idea what to feed me. Ate lots of plain noodles when everyone had spaghetti. Had one host family buy me tofu. Boy they were cool..its was a guys house in ellicot city..can't remember the name. Loved his parents.
By second phase got to eat at my house and had a semi permanent weekend host home at another vegetarians house. WOOO HOOO.
I remember the maintenance man..can't think of his name..used to buy plain cheese pizze more me and another girl who was veggie when everyone else had hardees.
