this board is great!!!!
Hello,
I just wanted to say thank you to everyone. It is so great to find this board. I was in straight 87-88 or 86-87 it was a long time ago and I really have not thought much about the place in years. I pulled a suicide attempt/copout and went straight in a mental hospital when I was found the next day. I like most of us would have done anything to end the misery and humileation of that hell. I did use again when I was out, But on my own I grew up and and now I might have 2 or 3 drinks a year. I am a sucess story but not because of straight. I was even more screwed up after that place. Now I am 27 I have a wonderful husband we have 2 incredible kids.I have a good life. The only credit I will give to straight is that place helped me to become a very strong person. And I met by best friend in straight. Who also has a great life and a wonderful family. Anyone who would like to talk can drop me a line. Also if anyone has an e-mail for Leighann F or Kim D from stoughton I would love to get in touch with them.

Hi Mimi
Welcome,
Glad you found us. I did my stint in Sarasota, FL from `80 - `82. But I know there are some Bostonians lurking around here from time to time.
How'd you find the board, btw? I do a little promoting of it here and there and like to know what works and what doesn't.

This is a good example of how it ought to be, without all the bickering and jabbing that's been going on lately. Are there any other success stories like this out here anywhere? MG8 :smokin:

Isn't it interesting that you can't remember exactly which year you were in. It was such a trying time in your young life. Thatis very common to get those dates confused.
Do you remember any of the staff members back then?

What's up! I was in Stoughton from 89-90. Welcome to the board. Glad you are well.
I don't go lookin' for trouble. I just keep a little in a box should someone come by who is.

I am, by no means, trying to stir up anything - just a couple questions for the OP...
If you're 27 now, and you were in Stoughton in the 80's, that means you were 7 or 8 years old at the time. Perhaps you're 37 now? Or did the program run out of teenagers after I left and had to resort to younger and younger victims?
I have a difficult time understanding how anyone who was locked up in there has gone twenty years without thinking about the place. It's in my head daily - sometimes ALL day.
Still, glad you've found the place. I wish you well. It's posts like yours that will be the only thing that saves this board from the trolls and scumbags.
Welcome.

the trolls and scumbags are the people that own, profit from and control this message board.
Just in case you didn't know.
