Title: Cigarettes
Post by: linchpin on August 20, 2005, 11:06:00 AM
Do any of you smokers ever think " Cigarettes are tasting like shit..and I really only enjoy about 2 of the 20 I smoke a day" ?
I smoke about a pack a day...and anytime I spend time in a non smokers house I think " Wow their house doesnt smell like shit" Then when I go home the nasty ashtray smell hits me...
But I cant seem to quit.
 Heroin, I quit...Methadone, I quit.. But cigarettes
seem to be even harder for me to quit than anything.
I know most of you could give a fuck..and thats cool. But just wanted to hear from some other smokers...Discusss.

the last time i quit (i am still off them), it was because i realized that i felt like death everytime i smoked a cigarette. that little nicotine rush that satisfies the craving really didn't feel good anymore. i also was hiking a lot at the time and i knew the smoking was affecting my physical health. i cut way back to like six cigarettes a day and then i went cold turkey, which really sucks.

i would say start smoking outside, so it isn't such a mindless habitual thing, and you at least have some clean air space inside. you could wash all the curtains and stuff, paint the walls, and really clean the place up.

good luck!

I did restart smoking last year and I know what you mean about only 2 out of 20 being worth it. It's usually the one after lunch and dinner.

Before that I did quit for 3 years and what I did is not take any cigarettes to work so there would only be time to smoke at home. Then I'd only smoke outside. I had cut back to 1 or 2 a day, but still had to have them. Then one day I bummed a smoke from someone that didn't smoke my brand and got sick as hell. I just lost the desire to do it after that.

It's pretty nerve racking to quit and I find myself restarting each time I quit for a few years.

If you want the good pipe tobacco you have to hunt down a good inexpensive smoke shop and get native American and use  hookah. With a pipe lighter. Or else you can use http://www.nascigs.com (http://www.nascigs.com) for your non-additive tobaccos, but there's still carbon monoxide in it. Moderation.

I tried unsuccessfully to quit for around 10 years once I started smoking again, and the same sort of thing happened to me, as to another poster here... I started feeling like I was consciously committing slow suicide that could turn into a really horrible sick death, every time I had a smoke. I just decided one day, after long weeks of deliberation, that I would never again pick one up. No one is going to force you to smoke a cigarette they buy for you, are holding and have to light for you, give to you, and hold while you smoke it... and in every situation I wanted a smoke, there was something else I could have been doing; I just started doing something else in those times. Yeah, hard as hell sometimes, but if you know you will just NOT pick the fucking thing up, you will never smoke again. It's been 5 years, and I believe you can also decide not to be a raving loony when quitting. You make the choice, every time.

Did I forget to mention DJARUM cloves? Of course you don't smoke them like cigarettes or your lungs will bleed. Very good tasting though. I like the Bali Hai and the BLACK. Very gratifying for the soul. :smokin: Moderation. It's still legal.

I've been thinking about adding tobacco to my drug list?  Is it any good?  It seems like a pretty rewarding habit.  I'm over 18.  Cigarettes--what are they all about?  I mean, are they good, or are they wack?

There ae a lot of puses to smoking in moderation. There are certain proteins found n certain tobaccos that are very theraputic and feed your head. It's just the carbon monoxide that's the poison, but if you can smoke native American tobacco out of a great waterpipe it's smooth and very good.

The right of self-defense is the first law of nature; in most governments it has been the study of rulers to confine this right within the narrowest possible limits. ... and [when] the right of the people to keep and bear arms is, under any color or pretext whatsoever, prohibited, liberty, if not already annihilated, is on the brink of destruction.

I quit smoking about a year and a half ago...Cold turkey...I was smoking about a pack and a half to two packs a day...Got tired of waking up coughing like mad then going straight for a cigarette....It got to where I would smoke one cigarette and there wasn't enough nicotine or whatever other chemical is in the cigarettes I was craving, so I lit up a second one. I finally realized I couldn't keep on like I was going so I decided to quit. I woke up on a Monday morning, looked at the pack I had beside my bed with 3 cigigarettes in it and said to myself " NO MORE ". That same pack is still sitting on my dresser with the same 3 cigarettes in it. I've made a promise to myself if I ever smoke again I would have to smoke them first....And you know as long as they've been sitting around, they would be good and nasty.

What you do speaks so loudly that I cannot hear what you say.

That used to happen to me too until I started using control. I've been smoking for about 35 years now. I don't have a smokers cough, but have to clear my throat from time to time. Not often. Glad to get off Marlboro and Winston. http://www.nascigs.com (http://www.nascigs.com)

I tried Zyban, nicotine patches and gum, hard candies, and for what and why? Some quacks! I enjoy smoking and if they don't like that tough. I can put it down if I have to. It doesn't kill me to go without tobacco, I find it better than their medicines. It's my luxery.

I think that is interesting that "going with tobacco won't kill you", as you said because it is killing me as we speak. I am dying with emphysema caused from smoking. i started smoking when I was nine years old and i am now quitting cigarettes so that I can watch my two beautiful, wonderful children grow up.

That's your own fault. Sounds like you just are a substance abuser. I don't care what you do. For Heaven's sake quit then. If you don't know what to smoke or how by all means quit. Why don't you go get one of those new shots :wstupid:

Being sleepy can impair someone's ability to do thier job.  People
can sleep at home and come to the job with sleepiness still in their system. The sleepiness can still be there long after the employee has slept. When someone is found to be sleepy on the job, they can claim that they went to sleep the night before.  The only solution to this problem is to ban employees from sleeping.

Do me a favor, ok? if you can snatch the cigarettes from the hands of the whole trailor trash fam damnily execpt me I'd shut up and just put them down and not pick them up again. You see I'm out numbered and they all chain smoke. Only peace of mind I get is at night when they're alseep. Then I don't have to kill them and they can take smoke breaks in the funny farm. You'd be doing them all a service. Donna wants to go in a home. Debbie wants to go in hospital for life, Barry is criminally insane, and is hiding out in Billings, Montana. Now,this boy is a real terrorist. I've encountered him as he infiltrated me by going on the other side. I saw Debbie in Hell when I broke through the Gates of Babylon and mommy dearest Donna has mirrors and idols and crystals and has no brain ok? so please.
