Title: ding dong the witch ain't dead yet
Post by: Born to be Wild on August 11, 2005, 05:51:00 PM
The Idaho schools, Ascent, RMA, Northwest Academy, and Boulder Creek were purchased by the same company that owns Provo Canyon!  The Bonner's Ferry paper says that they will be looking to former employees of the Brown Schools for help in starting new programs.
CEDU in California, where it all started, was bought by a Jewish group...revenge of the Wassermans.

I'm sure the company will start rehiring all the old trash that worked the places, like Bill Brown, Ariel Gunn, Chris Drapeau, etc.  I'm curious to see what type of program each campus will become and the "philsophy" the school will have.  Same names? New names? Same crappy people like LaTresa running the place. This should be very interesting.

Well shit LaTresa lives about 2 miles up the road I'm sure she'll be the first one applying. As long as they hire Don Parlow back as flex staff, they'll be ok.

What the schools should do is re-hire those staff that actually acted with dignity with the students and the ones that were actually there to HELP the students as well as themselves.  Seeing as how the Provo Canyon schools bought it out, it looks like it will be sheets as clothes for the first three months of everyone's stay there.  YUCK!

But you know that all the "good" staff probably got jobs elsewhere and the dregs are the only ones left.

The good news is, Brandi Elliot did not get the California school, parents were saying she was going to get a group to buy it for herself.  How selfserving is that?

The one that sold cedu schools in the first place should buy it back and try and salvage the name and what it used to mean.  Before i heard all the shit that was going on i wanted to go back and work there.  i would even still do that if they want to have the program like it was when i was there

The schools weren't sold.  The Brown schools went bankrupt!  The property the schools were on was sold at auction to pay of the debts, but very few, including all the lawsuits against Brown Schools will see much.

They were sold to Brown Schools before the closure.  That is what we are referring to.

Gotcha!  So does that mean the Wasserman's were better?

Unfortunately, I don't know the Wasserman's personally so as far as them being better, I wouldn't know.  What I do know in the whole CEDU before it was Brown School vs. Afterwards; is that CEDU in the beginning could not legally continue to give students medicational evaluations more than 3 times during the entire stay.  The only reasoning they could do it more than once was if it was referred by the "clinicians" of CEDU.  When Brown School bought it, there were a lot of meds brought into the school for some of my friends that I didn't think needed it.  Keep in mind please, that this is a personal opinion and I am not a doctor.  I do understand the difference that medication brings into someones' life depending on if they need it or not, I saw that first hand.   Of course, I graduated before the move was made to Brown School and all of my resources are based on hearsay from friends, and of course the changes I saw for myself when I reunited with those friends.[ This Message was edited by: If u want to know..then ask on 2005-08-12 14:56 ]

When the Wasserman's own Cedu schools there was a certain integrity that came with the schools. All of the staff members when currently in or had completely finshed the whole program.  and when i say that i mean they put there all into them.  i remember a teacher that i had that when i graduated he was one of my best friends.  when i came to that school i hated everything about it until after several months i watch this teacher come out of his summit i knew from that moment on that i wanted that feeling and it took a lot of hard painful work but i got there. i took the hard way even after i left i did things the hard way. What Brown did to these programs and the way they just started to medicate everyone makes me sick.  That was not what CEDU education was ever about and never will be.  i would love to go back and help bring back the realmeaning of CEDU education but it looks like that no  one will get that chance now that this other company wwants to bring in all the Brown workers

Something to ponder - kids can't be medicated without the consent of their parents.  They also need to see a psychiatrist.  Let's face it Wasserman was only out for the $$$$ just like the Brown Schools.  They both feed off the misery of others and created misery where it didn't exist.

They did INDEED medicate children WITHOUT their parents' consent!  I saw this first hand and actually had to go into refusal one time because they were trying to cram medications down my throat after a traumatizing event occured.  I don't disagree that both parties were out to make money, but medications were very often handed out like candy.  In some cases, if they did call the parents, the whole story with side effects, etc, etc. was not explained!

well it's fortunate that the schools are open again. it means we can go up to idaho, set up shop right off campus, and shoot paintballs at all the staff and students. who's with me?

That is the best idea I have heard!  Only it isn't the students' fault, so we shouldn't hit them.  We should let them join us though!

If you really want to stir up some crap, why not contact Universal Health Services@http://wwwuhsinc.com/contact.html
or Corporate Headquarters:
Universal Health Corporate Center
P.O. Box 61558867 South Gulph Road
King of Prussia, PA 19406
or Western Region of UHS
1635 Village Center Circle
Suite 200
Las Vegas Nevada 89134
(702)360-9040
This way, all who are interested in complaining, commenting, suggesting about former Idaho staff can direct their comments to the corporate headquarters.
Who were the decent staff?  Who were flagrant violators of student rights? Who should be re-hired or considered?  Who were the REAL bad guys, etc.  Give them the honest truth about what worked and what didn't.

I'd rather shoot paintballs at people. much more satisfying.

It might be more satisfying personally, but it doesn't solve the problem in inappropriate staff being rehired.

Actually, UHS is a pretty good company.  I was at a Brown Schools program back in 98-99, so I know some of their programs.  I worked at a UHS psych hospital  until last year.  The patients were treated pretty darn well there.  Hopefully they can resurrect the name CEDU and turn it into something great.  The hardest part is that UHS has more experience running  med-surg and acute psych hospitals.  The just need to get the right people in the right positions at the CEDU schools and I think it could work out quite well.  And $10 million for 4 properties,  thats a killing.  I woulda bought them for that if i had it

And then I would've shot you with a paintball.
