A misdemeanor is a crime not punishable by more than one year in jail. A misdemeanor is a crime - but not a serious crime. A felony is a crime punishable by more than one year in jail. Usually involves a crime associated with Battery, Assault, Arson, Larceny, Rape, Burglary and other dangerous crimes......

Not necessarily. I don't know about multiple counts, but usually they erase or seal your record if it's your first offense. Say you get charged with misdemeanor assault, you'll do a year of probabtion and counseling classes. If you have a history they'll throw the book at you and give you the year in county jail.
