Not only are they selling kids' artwork for their own gain, they GIVE THE KIDS' NAMES on the website.

Making profit for themselves while destroying confidentiality for patients - how lovely.

Parents, are you aware that your kids' names are appearing on this website that names them as current patients?

Facility Question and Answers / FFT

Here's a really good, easy to understand "nuts and bolts" explanation of the three phases of an FFT intervention.

I was informed today that confidence in the Boss' leadership/decisions has eroded to such a low level that the counseling staff and some management have been holding "clandestine" meetings to discuss the viability of the future of the facility under his leadership - even going as far as to discuss how to take control of the business.

One staff member reported that the Boss is actually showing signs of mental illness, and shows signs of "cracking."  Staff members are apparently concerned that he himself is actually suffering from a psychological problem causing him to be disorganized, irrational, erratic and generally "crazy."

Panic at the insanity factory?

This isn't the first time I've heard concern over leadership, but it has generally been confined to bad business practices, deceit, "loyalty oaths," unfair labor practices and insolvency.

Has anyone dealt with Little Napoleon lately that would care to comment on this turn of events?

Here's one of HLA's "new hires."  Although they advertise as having all Masters level counselors, it is completely untrue.

Exactly how does a BS in "Criminal Justice" and an interest in "Marshall (sic) Arts" qualifiy someone to be the primary caregiver to a child with mental health issues?  It sounds more like a recipe for unneeded restraint than "therapy."

The kicker: http://www.nu.edu/

This completely unqualified person has only a CJ degree from an online college.

Where are the licensed, masters level counselors (HLA advertisements claim "42 Masters Level Counselors"[/i])?  I can seem to find only a single licensed one, (recent update to profile added "LPC") but I do see plenty of online degrees not related in any way to mental health.

False advertising?  Scam?  Why don't HLA parents ask questions about the staff?

http://www.hiddenlakeacademy.com/loadPr ... userID=147

Woops! No degree here at all.

This one is funny:

http://www.hiddenlakeacademy.com/loadPr ... userID=175

No degree whatsoever for this AC and her sole and only qualification?  "Jen loves sports."  Well, glad to have you aboard, Jen!

If these are the staff that are "proudly" listed on the website, it kinda makes ya wonder who's "not-so-proudly" left off the website.

Scary.  BP kids are completely inappropriate for HLA's environment.

Oh yeah, they don't take violent or disturbed kids.

Eudora, every time I use the phrase "you need to" in one of my posts, after I hit "say it" the text gets changed to "I want you to."  Why does this happen?

TSW, I see you have a new thread loooking for engaged dialogue with Cheryl Sudweeks.  That's great.

However, I'd like to remind you that the last time you did this, we got the "KarenInDallas" thread.  Ahhh...memories.

Lookingintothings is an HLA employee.  This person posed as a "whistle-blower" trying to disseminate damaging information about HLA.

Take a look at the underhanded, lying, manipulations this person used to try to get me in a legal bind and to try to get the inside information on several ongoing investigations into HLA.

Observe:

 Hi DJ-
I was just wondering if you have heard anything on the private investigation? Do you know how it is going?

I have some info. that you might be interested in but I have to wait until I can get on my home computer."

Obviously, these people will stoop to any level.  If you think this type of behavior is deplorable, you should see how they treat children in their care.

I was just mulling this over, but maybe we can get some dialogue going about how something like this might work.

There are many former HLa staff out there who are well-respected professionals in their disciplines who disagree with the policies of HLA.  However, whenever any of these folks express their concerns publicly they are immediately sued by HLa via Q&Q.

One example:  Brian Church.  Brian was formerly the Director of Admissions (correct me if I'm wrong) and when he left he was sued for breach of contract and gagged.  Mr. Church is well respected and would be a credible source of information, but he's beensued into submission.

There are many others out there like Mr. Church, but they are afraid to speak up.

Many of the parents of HLA kids are extremely angry and frustrated at the way they and their children were treated.  These folks tend to have means.  What if these people of means stood up for the people who can deliver the goods on HLA by setting up a legal fund for the whistle-blowers?

To the dissatisfied, cheated parents of HLA kids who are looking for redress of your grievances, I guess the question is "How bad do you want it?"

If anyone can give me input on this idea, I'm listening.  I'll put the right people in touch with one another, but someone's going to have to foot the legal bills...

Interesting tidbits...

HLA does not provide health insurance to its employees.  They have to buy it, and HLA raised the rates recently.

HLA charges employees for "consumables" like aspirin ($.50 a piece!).  Shit, if you don't get a headache working there, you're not human.  And then they CHARGE you for relief.  Oy vey.

Construction projects to benefit residents linger unfinished while funds are made available to complete Len and Ken's "house on the hill."

Production of the newsletter has been cut due to "rising costs."

Horse program = no program.  No horses, no barns, no nothing but a patch of dirt and an "equine therapist" (I'm still wondering if this is a therapist that works with kids and horses or if they actually hired a horse as a therapist and pay in oats instead of dollars).

Anybody else have any tidbits?  Any petty expenses passed on to the consumer?  Any requests for donations/gifts?

The Ridge Creek School / Hidden Lake Academy / Clarke Poole
« on: March 08, 2006, 11:42:00 AM »
Does anyone have contact info for this guy?  I'd like to talk to him.

I'd be willing to bet there are a few attorneys who'd like to depose him as well.

Clarke, if you're out there, a lot of us are wondering "why did it take you so long to speak up?"  Maybe you can come on here and answer, if you can get the Q&Q gag out of your mouth, of course.

Is anyone familiar with the "Chapel Project"?

What I understand is that HLA had collected from donors to do some sort of project - don't know the details - and had collected about $300,000.00 to that end.

I am hearing that this money has "disappeared" and that the donors are rumbling about what happened to their donations.

Does anyone else know about the "Chapel Project"?

Well, we all know about "Dr." Tom Sisk with the phony degree from a diploma mill, but I was sent the bio of this guy:

Clay Erickson
Director of Addiction Services

B.A. - Pacific Southern University. M.D. ? University of Washington School of Medicine. M.A. ? Antioch University

He has a BA posted from "Pacific Southern University," a well-known, now defunct (sued by the State of Hawaii) DIPLOMA MILL.

Unless this bio is a mistake, Mr. Erickson has a bogus degree.

A news article:
http://www.bizjournals.com/pacific/stor ... ocus1.html

Here's where they were spanked, fined and shut down for fraud:
http://www.hawaii.gov/dcca/areas/ocp/udgi/lawsuits/PSU/

Another phony clinician on the staff?  Who can tell us more about Mr. Erickson?
