My friend, Louisa, sprouted out this little tad pole a couple years back. Last time I saw, Letty, was around June when I spent the day with Louisa, her Husband, and Letty.

Young letty took it into her head to get me to color with her. So that is how I spent a couple of hours. Was loads of fun.

Counselor Accused Of Helping Morning Star Teen Escape
By KEIRA BENSON
(WOOLFORD, MD -- WMDT) 4/11/2007

A 17-year-old student is still missing after he escaped from the Morning Star Youth facility last month in Woolford. Now a counselor at that facility is charged with helping him leave the state of Maryland.

Dorchester County Sheriff James Phillips says, "She was there as a counselor, and I would liken it to a school teacher and a student. It's not acceptable and it's illegal."

Sheriff James Phillips is talking about 25-year-old Amanda Beavers. He says, she helped the boy escape from the Vision Quest Morning Star Youth Facility for troubled teens in March.

He says, "We received a tip from staff at Vision Quest. Apparently, info had come their way that she may have been involved inappropriately with the young man."

Friday, Beavers turned herself in to the Sheriff's Department. Sheriff Phillips says Beavers drove the boy from Maryland to Ohio. He says he doesn't know where the teen is now.

Phillips says, "I wish I knew ... somewhere in Ohio. We haven't recovered him yet."

This isn't the first time Phillips has had to deal with an escape from Morning Star. In less than one month the facility has had six escapes.

Jeremy Smith is the Director at Morning Star. He says, "We've upgraded our staffing and we're really working with the community first and foremost."

Beavers is now facing charges of second degree child abuse. Sheriff Phillips says they're still looking for the teen in Ohio.

The Troubled Teen Industry / Calories and hunger
« on: July 30, 2007, 10:19:34 PM »
Just yesterday I had my monthly party for my best class of English speakers. Every month the best behaved class that speaks the most English gets a pizza party. It cost me 20 bucks a month and it helps them to have something to work towards.

I noticed right away two things:

1) 13 year old boys eat like animals.
2) They also eat alot, far more than I managed to anyway.

So to the point of this post:

How many of you lost weight or gained weight in the programs? I seem to remember alot of the kids at 3 Springs either loosing a bunch of weight or putting on a bunch of weight. Seemed to vary from kid to kid.

At Eckerd's they tended to gain more weight. Probably because the food was about 10,000 times more edible that the crap they fed at 3 springs.

Well what say you?

I can see that you two have a kind of back and forth thing going right now, but I just wanted to interject with a general question about this forum. I'm new and would like to tell my story. I assume that starting a new topic would be the best way to go about it. My question is: Are there any reasons, legal or otherwise, for me not to call out specific staff by their first and/or last names when I am describing my time there? I certainly have no intention of slandering anyone; the offenses and slights I suffered at PV are horrific enough on their own and need no exaggeration or embellishment. It will take me awhile, I imagine, to convey my experiences there but I am anxious to share with those of you who have suffered similar experiences or love someone who had to suffer them.

Perhaps a lawyers advice is needed. Though its my general experience that as long as you are telling the truth you will be fine. The forum has multiple examples of first hand accounts detailing all manners of testimony involving staff.

The question is are you comfortable enough with the idea that you could possibly be hit with a slap suit to try and silence you?

2) Ensure that absolutely nothing gets done.
3) Flying sweet pickles at dogs that walks by.
