A couple of lines from a couple of different songs seem appropriate to me at this juncture of our debate.

First Parry Farrell of Jane's Addiction:

She takes a swing that she can't hit.She don't mean no harm, she just don't know what else to do about it.

And then Pete Townsend of The Who:

But my dreams, they aren't as empty as my conscience seems to be.I have hours only lonley. My love is vengance that's never free.

I probably knew that attempting to help dismantle the barriers seperating the truth from the lie and abomination that is Alcoholics Anonymous'stanglehold on contemporary thought regarding the treatment and care of individuals experiencing difficulties with societies reaction to their behavior by pointing out that Michael O'Sullivan is a racict and an A.A. member
would be a rediculous folly. But whaddyagonna do?In a world where a war on drugs shatters thousands of non-threatening lives a year...In a world where teenagers are subjected to grotesque constructions of demented psychologies...In a world growing increasing uglier and meaner by the day...In a world of conniving, frightened sickness and otherwise well-intentioned people duped into greater and greater abuses in the name of "tough love",I thought this might be a good time to raise a ruckus. If a politician has to identify his religion or an illness is fair game for public discussion,so is A.A. involvement. No longer can we allow A.A. to operate behind the scenes.

If you had seen as many atrocities as I have in A.A.your heart would probably ache a little bit too.I've seen too many inebriated people beaten, too many families, friendships and relationships broken in the name of "making A.A. the most important thing in your life",too much "NAZI" sobriety producing a bizzare cookie-cutter metality of learned helplessness and way too much hate.

Does that make me miserable? You're fuckin'A skippy............

Synanon / Where are the Synanon Ex-Members?

It would be nice to get some imput from the synanon contingent.I'm pretty sure cedu was the first synanon offshoot.

When I first discovered this site about a year ago,I didn't know what to expect.Fact is,I was kind of hoping to gain some insight into my own experience.I believe that perhaps I have.It is an added bonus that this site is dedicated to discontinuing the practice of systematic teen abuse.I'm pleased to participate in any small way I can.

Former Synanon member contributions would be greatly appreciated.

Nobody in the press seemed to recognize the importance-- it was very important-- of the involvement of Charles Manson in Alcoholics Anonymous. It was a crucial educational experience for the legendary murderer/psychopath/cult leader. He learned first hand, watching A.A. trusted servants use the important techniques of manipulation and control that Alcoholics Anonymous would perish without. These were techniques that he later employed in his murderous cult "family".

By the way. What "family"were you in at CEDU?I was in Eric Meltzer's.Yeah,I know...tough break.

If only Charles "Bud" Diederich hadn't learned the same brand of hate and lies. Now there is one bad ass cult leading freak.I'm sure I don't have to explain to you how many deaths can be laid at the doorstep of his cults. At least I hope I don't.It probably would have been nice if he had just hung on to his fucked-up alcohol related problems.

I'm happy for your friends, but take a closer look the next time you happen into A.A.The interactional dynamic can not be described without the term cult-like.

Michael O'Sullivan is an A.A. cultist and now the chairman of the largest politiclly recognized supremacist group in the country. This freak should not be underestimated and niether should the horrific influence of Alcoholics Anonymous.

By the way...this is just a guess...but I would say there are more White Supremacists in Nevada per capita than any state in America...They've been trying to move out the trailors to make room for highrise condominiums, that seems to be going pretty good.Clearing away racism and ignorance might take a little longer.

Hey!!!!!Get a load of this!!This miserable bastard is a bonified member of A.A. in good standing.

Please Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

http://www.nationalvanguard.org/story.php?id=5693

I stayed at this scumbags "recovery house" for almost two weeks, back in about the year 2001.Rumors abound that this guy is a date rapist,a mercenary preying on the gullibilty of unfortunates down on their luck, and a practicioner of scared straight, tough love, reefer madness bullshit...in the name of profit.I believe it!!

A fine reporter in Las Vegas has expressed some interest in this matter.Mr.Andrew Kiraly of Las Vegas writing for CITYLIFE magazine may be willing to "out" this guy as a member of A.A.

I need all the help I can get.

I will direct him to this website.

Please Help. This could be really big.I think if somebody starts holding A.A. accountable for the devastation it has wrought, it will make room for genuine educational developments.

PLEASE-PLEASE-PLEASE-PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not everybody understands just how detrimental, debilitating, ugly, hienous and stiltifing A.A. is on society at large. You guys can make this matter clear to a man that has already proven his brilliance in journalism.

Please Help![ This Message was edited by: CEDU 1974-75 on 2005-08-22 18:04 ]

O.K.,You got me.

I originally found this site by googling Cedu on the computer here at the community college.Since then I have spent several hours studying cult practices as they relate to so-called rehabilitation,so-called treatment,so-called behavior modification,so-called alcoholism,so-called drug addiction and all the other lame shit that goes along with sick and abusive nonsense in the guise of help.

I am and will probably remain, forever disgusted.

The sad conclusion that I have reached is that I have wasted an incredible amount of time in my life trying to understand something that is incomprehensible, trying to fit into a world that I didn't want to be a part of anyway(the so-called recovery world),and trying to change myself into something that various and random fuckheads thought I ought to be.

Being indoctrinated into cult practices at an early age left me vulnerable to the type of crap that AA slings around.Man... Do I hate to admit it,but I've fallen for more of this bullshit than just about anybody.

Fortunately,I've been able to gather alternative perspectives on these matters. Thanks in no small part to this website and it's contributors.

I have spent way to much time with AA.Is it a cult? You're Fuckin-A-Skippy.I won't be back.

Fortunately also, is the fact that AA is dying. The senile, drooling, slobbering old bitch is about gone.Good riddance to pedophile Buchman's cheesy con.One more dissatisfied customer and a handful of psyche-meds ought to just about do it.Throw dirt on it and piss on it's grave.

Does anybody know the history of Dederich's involvement with AA other than the thumbnail sketch I usually find. You Know, sober two years in AA,found his experience unsatisfying, started having meetings in his home(a common practice among present day AA cultists in Las Vegas!)????
So many of these abusive entities have there genesis  in the seemingly benign organization of alcoholics anonymous that it's not even funny.

Roy:In my personal experience with this fornits site,it has become my opinion that your comments regarding the "cedu experience" offer the clearest articulation of the gross abuses perpetrated by cedu.
I mean;Where else are we going to get an authoritive use of such terms as double-binds,mixed messages, conflicting rules and stuff like that,(I especially liked the term psycho-dynamic propheets)if it doesn't come from you, someone with firsthand experience?
It would probably all be laughable if it wasn't so goddamn sad.
Here in Las Vegas there will be a protest March 19 to mark the second anniversary of our immoral and bloody invasion and occupation of Iraq.I'll be there, hopefully carrying a sign with some half-assed witisism regarding the use of DEPLETED FUCKING URANIUM.
You're so right. It's all tied together and none of us should have bought into the crap they were selling us.
Anyway here is my request....
Give these guys the interview.I'm afraid there are a lot of people whose true voice may never be heard on this matter....

I'll never forget listening to the strains of John Lennons'"Working Class Hero"over and over and over again, while Michael Allgood held a picture of a young boy in front of me,belittling me in that special way of his, encouraging me to remember what it was like to be an innocent child, encouraging me to pound on a sofa cushion with my fists and get in touch with my feelings.

Sometimes,I wish I could.

Back in those days at Running Springs, they would manually pick up the record player needle and place it at the start of the song or at the place in the song where they thought it would have the most psychological or emotional impact.

This was after being awake for...oh say, thirty hours or so.

Sometimes, you've just got to scratch your head and wonder...What were these people thinking?

Did they actually believe that these allegedly sophisticated, psychological techniques, would be beneficial to those that experienced them?

Is attempting to scream from the core of your innermost being really going to produce positive, effective emotional growth?

How is it that what many might consider to be legitimate issues of mine were never adressed?

Is there any real benefit to hearing and knowing that people can be ashamed?

I do not pretend to know the answer to these questions.I admit that the memory of experiencing group hugging, sharing tears and companionship, sharing shame and admitting shame, are not entirely and altogether unpleasant memories.Never the less, among the negative impacts to my well being I count an unrealistic, idealised conception of what a friend should be and what real communication should be.

These ought to be relatively easy matters to contend with.

It has taken nearly thirty years and a significant amount of time reading at this site and following posted links to the internet to even begin to understand.Me? Mostly I just go ahead and break down and cry if I have to.It doesn't last that long and it seems to let the pressure off.

And another thing:What the hell do they want to do that to children for anyway?I've already grown weary of reading  stories dedicated to the deaths, suicides, injuries and suffering of those that were unfortunate enough to encounter these facilities.(you know, they make me want to break down and cry). When the hell are we ever going to learn that you can not alleviate human suffering with human suffering?

GOOD LUCK TO ALL IN TAMPA TODAY !!

JUST SAY NO TO ATROCITY

Excellent point.I have seen many people in various small groups  absolutely believe the abusive behavior they inflict upon others is a precursor to that  persons development in some way.
Being hateful and mean-spirited has always been the norm in these juvenile programs. It is now obvious, that it is the norm in organizations like Alcoholics Anonymous,as well.
Many times I have asked various members of AA,what I considered to be a reasonable question only to be yelled at,ridiculed,or otherwise dismissed with some snide nonsense. Most recently,it seems that AA has taken to "wishing desperation"on those not exhibiting full compliance with the program. On this planet, wishing desperation on anyone seems to be an unneccessary absurdity.
In all my experience with recovery and treatment programs, it seems that failure is inevitable unless one is predisposed to a mindless ,self-serving need for control and power.I"ve never been able to go for that.
Sour grapes on my part?Maybe. But,Isn't there something better? How about truth and reality, consideration of care,non-punitive education.Instead we get hands-on brutality and fear mongering and for what?Because somebody could really use a pat on the back. It's silly really, but it sure seems that way to me.
,It also seems to me,that I am not the only one who is a little tired of seeing people go down because of the scared straight, tough love, reefer madness bullshit that is employed with uneven hands and  mindless inhumanity.Bullshit foisted upon them in the name of treatment and recovery.....and in the case of forced or coerced juvenile facilities......money.big money, and big, fat, lying republican money.

Fortunately, these trained therapists are not limited in their involvement in this communication forum.Antigen, once again, clearly hits the nail on the head when identifying greedy business practice as the principle motivation behind these abusive practices.(i.e.marketing requirement)[ This Message was edited by: CEDU 1974-75 on 2005-01-29 13:08 ]
