Can anyone here verify BD's time at Straight inc? At this point I am assuming that he never spent even a day at one of the Straight bldg's. His fixation with Straight survivors seems to come from a mental illness and not any legitimate concern for others. He has done alot to try and harm the Straight survivor "community". Why would anybody who was really there do anything like that? Answers anyone?

Let It Bleed / R.L. Burnside King of MS Hill Country Blues
« on: March 01, 2011, 03:23:32 PM »
Although many of the details of his personal life are in dispute, we do know that R.L. Burnside killed at least one person. A drunken dispute over a dice game led to R.L. whipping out his pistol and doing the deed. He is reported to have told the judge: "I didn't mean to kill nobody, I just meant to shoot the sonofabitch in the head. Dying was tween him and the lord." LOL!  :notworthy:
Yeah R.L. liked his whiskey and his women and apparently his pistol as well.

Favorite Songs: Shake em on down, Goin down South, and Miss Maybelle.

Let It Bleed / Gregg Allman tribute thread
« on: February 07, 2011, 04:23:17 PM »
This man is almost a god-like figure to me. Awhile back I bought the  Live at the Beacon Theater DVD. Gregg's voice was pretty much flawless throughout. The guitar work by Warren Haynes and Derek Trucks is awesome of course but Gregg steals the show with his heartfelt performance.
OK lets get the 800 pound gorilla out of the room right from the start. What the hell was he thinking when he married Cher?

Let It Bleed / Willie Nelson tribute thread
« on: December 30, 2010, 07:26:29 PM »
This thread is dedicated to the living American legend, Willie Nelson. I want to invite everyone to post their favorite Willie songs/lyrics, Willie stories, trivia etc.
So Willie just got picked up again for weed possesion in Texas. The cops searched his tour bus and found Willie's stash as well as that of his entire crew. It was a hefty haul for the local redneck cops that did it. Did you know that Willie went out of his way to claim resposibility for the entire stash so that the cops would only arrest him and let his crew go. Thats right, Willie took the rap so his buddies could slide. As if i didn't already love this man enough. He takes it on the chin so that his roadies wont have to spend the night in jail with him. Realizing the potential public relations nightmare this arrest represented for the police dept, Willie was released from custody pretty quickly.

The first song that hooked me on Willie's music was Angel Flyin Too Close To The Ground. It remains one of my favorites.
"So I patched up your broken wing
And hung around awhile
Trying to keep your spirits up
And your fever down
But I knew someday that you would fly away
cause loves the greatest healer to be found
So leave me if you need to
I will still remember
Angel Flyin too close to the ground"

Open Free for All / Whooter's avatar domination must end
« on: December 13, 2010, 05:19:28 PM »
There is no excuse for the fact that Whooter has the coolest looking avatar here. As we all know, Whoot is very knowledgable about Marketing. He knows the power of visuals when selling a product. On the other hand i am kind of computer illiterate and thats why i have no avatar at all. This might sound kind of stupid to some but I think it does deserve to be considered. Whooters avatar must be crushed! Seriously.
Comments or Suggestions welcome.

Open Free for All / Re: More Zero Tolerance Fun
« on: October 08, 2010, 05:35:09 PM »
The anticipation builds as I prepare to reveal Dannys' PM. I know you are watching the screen Danny, feverishly hoping I deleted it. I'm afraid it will be anti-climactic however cause its just a BS Danny oneliner. See folks, these are the consequences of a zero-tolerance policy. In this case, my policy towards Danny at the moment.

Open Free for All / Danny's van dragging incident
« on: October 06, 2010, 05:37:18 PM »
Since Danny has been particularly spiteful lately, I thought this may be a good time to bring this up and demand the truth from Danny about this incident. Danny you have never properly cleared up the details of what happened the day you assaulted a female inmate at Elan by dragging her behind your van. You have made comments before about how you enjoyed doing this and in fact were laughing while stepping on the gas. You said that you had to turn up the radio to drown out this girls pleas for mercy. You were a staff member at the time and apparently went completely power-crazy. Please clear this up now so we don't have to keep going back to it.

The Troubled Teen Industry / Many Many Programs Abuse Kids
« on: October 01, 2010, 06:55:08 PM »
I saw many terrible abuses while incarcerated at Straight inc in the 80's. It is my understanding that many of these same practices still exist in one form or another in programs that are currently operating. I want to invite victims of abuse to post something about abuse they personally endured or abuse they saw perpetrated on another inmate. Apparently there are people who don't believe abuse happens in these places. Feel free to tell them about it here.

Me first. While incarcerated at Straight inc I saw children denied the privlege of sleeping. Newcomers would be kept awake for days on end sometimes to break them down mentally and physically. Just one of many many abuses I witnessed firsthand while I was there.

The Troubled Teen Industry / The Water Fountain
« on: September 13, 2010, 05:14:58 PM »
In Straight inc we all sat in a really big room with row upon row of blue chairs. On one side of the group were the bathrooms and in between the bathrooms was a water fountain. This water fountain was fully functional with nice cold water to drink. The water fountain was a constant reminder of what you needed and wanted but couldn't have. Sometimes after a really intense Exercise Rap we would all line up at the waterfountain. 200 kids lining up at a single water fountain. Then each phaser was allowed a drink from the fountain. This usually consisted of a sip lasting a couple of seconds. A staff member stood by the fountain regulating the duration of the sip we could receive. That is the only times that fountain was used. The fountain would sit there for days without anyone ever being allowed to drink. I see now why it was there. A source of constant torment. Like holding a steak in front a starving dog and never letting him have a bite. Just another way to beat you down. Does anybody remember stuff like this from other programs? Please respond.

BTW I can only speak to what was in the Atlanta Straight building. I am curious whether or not the other buildings had a water fountain as well. Straightlings?

Straight, Inc. and Derivatives / Medical Neglect
« on: August 31, 2010, 04:11:58 PM »
When I was on 5th phase me and my host brother Freddie got this newcomer from gastonia NC. He had been in the program for a couple of weeks at this point and seemed to still be kind of shell-shocked. He was limping around and when we asked him why, he asked permission to take off his shoes to show us. He had the most severe case of Atheletes foot I have ever seen even to this day. It was completely covering both of his feet. The soles of his feet had large cracks in them which oozed. I dont even know how he was able to walk at all. We showed Freddies' Mom and she freaked out. It turned out that he had not been able to shower but once since coming in the program and had not had his clothes washed at all. His socks literally PEELED off his feet. Freddies Mom soaked the kids feet in something and washed all his clothes. He was so fuckin grateful man it makes me sick thinking about it now. I remember how we literally poured foot powder into his socks each morning before going to the building for the next few days until he got moved to a new home. By then his feet had improved alot but were still far from completely healed.
Does anyone have any stories of the day to day medical neglect that happened at Straight that they would like to post?

The latest episode of ID channels' show "Wicked Attraction" aired last night. It featured the story of ex-straight inc inmate Bradley Martin. He is on death row in Penn. I did a search here on fornits and there seemed to be little discussion about him in the past. Was wondering if anybody here knew any more details about his stay at Straight. It would seem to be yet another example of Straight brain-screwing turned tragic.

Open Free for All / My AA experience
« on: August 06, 2010, 12:05:24 PM »
When I got out of Straight i attended AA regularly for about 6 months before the Straight programming started wearing off and I slowly realized that I wasn't addicted to anything. I had very little in common with the BS I heard discussed at those meetings. Everyone seemed selfish, self absorbed and pathetic. People whos' greatest accomplishment in life was not taking drugs or alcohol. Wow! What a grand accomplishment. Yeah, if you have no real ambition or dreams at all.
I have an older step-brother who became a mega-drunk and then landed in AA to get off the booze. He traded one negative compulsion for another. He wrecked his marriage to a good woman who had tolerated his drinking but couldn't deal with his AA crusading. She would get up to go to work in the morning and have to step over the drunks sleeping on her living room floor cause my step-brother was "rescuing" these deadbeat fucks. She put up with it for several years before finally giving him the ultimatum: Its your wife and family or its AA. You guessed it, he chose AA. Over the years i have watched similar scenarios play out with people i knew directly or knew through mutual friends. AA destroying families is very real. It is VERY cultish and as far as i can tell its "success" rate is laughable at best. Besides, define "success" by AA standards. What is it really?

Straight, Inc. and Derivatives / Straight Staffers on Facebook
« on: December 17, 2009, 07:04:18 PM »
I just visited the Atlanta Straight Alumni page on Facebook. You guys have to see this! It has several ex Straight staffers on there full blown denying not only their crimes but ALL Straight crimes. I realize most here didn't go through the Atlanta program but I thought yall would like to see the monsters comforting each other and denying any abuse whatsoever. Just when I was getting in a forgiving mood too. Since these people put their names out there for the public on Facebook I see no reason not to use them here. Elizabeth P. was one of the most vicious female staffers at atlanta Straight. She was petty and cruel to the point that girls would actually shake as she walked by. She says on Facebook that "she never abused anyone". I guess she has a different definition of the word "abuse" than the rest of the human race. I saw her humiliate girls daily. She was one of those staffers that made it obvious, she enjoyed what she was doing. I think I will join Facebook just to respond to these folks. If you guys want to look at Straight brainwashing/zealotry/denial then pay a visit to the Atlanta Straight group on facebook. Not to be at all confused with the Facebook page done by Kelly M. (thanks Kelly) which is cool. If anyone has the time to look and would like to post their reactions I would appreciate it. I really don't want to feel this hate and anger towards these people but they just made it alot harder to forgive.

Straight, Inc. and Derivatives / Becoming a Straight Robot
« on: November 20, 2009, 02:25:56 PM »
In order to move up in your phases at Straight you had to screw over other people in one way or another. That is just the way it was. The entire system was set up that way. I think it is unhealthy for the Survivors of Straight to pass judgement on anyone for this in any way. That will only stifle communication and discourage new participation. Yes, adult staff members and some psychopathic phasers are worthy of our hate but the vast majority of us were either brainwashed or absolutely terrified or both. A child deserves no lasting blame for doing what they are programmed to do. Have you seen the movie "Blood Diamond"? This kid is captured by sadistic rebel soldiers and eventually turned into a mindless killing machine. It is real and happens every day in 3rd World Countries around the globe. You take a child and immerse them in an alien environment, deprive them of food and sleep, make them utterly dependent upon their abusers for everything and before too long you will have a compliant robot willing to do whatever they are instructed. For most of us, this is what happened in Straight. Sometimes the guilt makes me lose site of this fact. I begin to think that I was responsible for what i did there. I was not responsible and neither were any of the other children. If you tried to be a "nice guy" in Atlanta Straight in the early 80's you would never leave first phase. Even higher phasers were constantly reminded how harsh we were expected to be with newcomers. I remember being in 4th and 5th phase raps where people were harshly confronted for not harshly confronting others. A start-over back to first phase was always just a staff members whim away. If anyone on this site claims to have progressed in their phases without ever having hurt someone else, then they are lying. It is that simple. Sorry to be so brutally blunt with that but I think it is a very important point that needs to be made.

Straight, Inc. and Derivatives / A Baby's Cry
« on: September 08, 2009, 05:17:04 PM »
Ever since I got out of Straight I have found the sound of a baby crying to be particularly disturbing. I mean until recently it would really make me cringe and want to evacuate the vicinity of crying babies immediately. About a year or so ago I realized where I think this comes from. Sometimes when a teenage girl has been "restrained" for hours on end, they sometimes begin to make a high-pitched whining kind of sound that resembles a baby's cry. I remember well sitting in group and hearing that sound coming from the girls side. Sometimes when we had a few girls "misbehaving" and consequently were being restrained all day, that pitiful sound would last for hours. Anyone who has been "restrained" at Straight knows how painful it could be and when you cried out in agony you were promptly told to shut up followed by a hand being placed over your mouth and nose. I have watched children driven to absolute madness with this technique. I have watched guys literally frothing at the mouth from hours of unrelenting torment - all directed by Straight staffers. Of course I couldn't see what was being done to the girls as well as I could our side, but I sure could hear it.
