Title: Skyline Journey's Mark Wardle on trial for child abuse homic
Post by: Majiktrvls on January 09, 2003, 12:16:00 AM
Amazing but true, this man, Mark WArdle, who was appointed the Field Director of Skyline Journey in 2001 has been charged with yet another death of a young man. This time tho, he was charged with allowing a 14 year old youth to die of hyperthermia. Apparently, the boy had had enough of hiking in the rugged terrain of Utah's deserts in 105 degree heat. Exhausted, he sat down and had a heat stroke. Wardle, being the good "field director" that he was, ignored the youth's condition, and allowed him to remain in the scorching sun for another 45 minutes before he summoned help citing that he thought the youth was "Faking it".
This is not the first time that this man has had issues with Child abuses. Skyline is still in operations although the state ordered it closed, but  while the appeals are going on, it remains open.......I have to wonder if he will get off of this charge and move on to yet another victim. Will Skyline be freely operating in another month? How many victims does it take to call it enough?
Any thoughts?

Leigh Hale, a field instructor for this wilderness program was dismissed of the homicide charges for her testimony against Wardle. She states that Ian, the youth, was difficult to get "motivated" due to his size. He was 5'4 and weighed about 200 pounds. He was placed in the intensive wilderness program by his adopted mother to help him deal with his "weight". Difficult to get motivated??????? Sound familiar?
