The programs Sue Scheff referred to ARE abusive. There is a mother who posts here regularly about her daughter who was abused in a program after being referred by Sue Scheff. You hate WWASPS so much, you are willing to align yourself with anyone who flys the anti-wwasp flag, no matter what their true intentions are. It's selfish to think that kids only get abused in WWASPS programs and then align yourself with a profiteer of troubled families, who refer to other programs which are known to be abusive! If you really want to know the truth read the WWASPS vs. PURE transcript in detail and see what kind of child advocate she really is. I was abused in a WWASPS facility and I am horrified at how she is using program victims horror stories to make money! Not to mention that she was the biggest referer to WWASPS and continued to refer after she took her daughter out! Wake up!
It seems the anti-wwasps advocates who support Sue Scheff and PURE have nothing to say about the revelation in those transcripts that Sue Scheff continued to refer to WWASPS after Sue Scheff took her OWN daughter ASHLYN SCHEFF out claiming Ashlyn Scheff had been abused, or if they have, I haven't seen the posts. I am curious though how they and Sue Scheff defend such actions? It just doesn't make sense, IMO. Anybody have a link to posts from these supporters? I'd like to know what their opinion is.

Was looking at the WWASP thread: Several threads have been re-posted that help clarify some of the "Scheff/Bock history"
Several "SCHEFF supporters" posted at one time using their own names--but that doesn't seem to be the case any longer. Wonder why?
You have it correct, WWASP poster: Scheff did refer to WWASP programs after claiming Ashley was abused at that WWASP facility. You'd have to ask her how any "Mom" could do that for money?
And Scheff did continue to refer children to Whitmore during the criminal investigation and after the owner, Cheryl Sudweeks was charged with criminal child abuse. Again, you'd have to ask her why she'd do that for money?
And yet Scheff sues another "MOM" for name-calling on the internet? Something seems way off there, in my opinion. Carey Bock didn't put any children in danger for money, did she?

I believe she did; although not in as direct a manner. She devastated the program parent outreach efforts, that would on occasion open a programmed parents eyes, and get them off the Kool-aid. She knew what she was doing would have this effect. She didn't care. In fact, I feel she was actively working with WWASP at one time. She got to the point where she often said her problem wasn't with WWASP, it was with Dundee (Like there is a difference) which is why, I theorize, they were at first paying for her lawyers.
Still, this judgment is outrageous and needs to be appealed. She was an aggravation. She was spitefully, mindlessly vengeful;. But no way did she cause more damage to Susan than has been done to thousands of victims, of other civil actions, that only received a few tens of thousands of dollars. 20, 30, 40 - maybe 100 in some cases. Phil did get Lulu Millions - but look what she had endured!
The families of victims who have been killed by gross negligence have not received anything like this amount. This judgment is an outrage. I despise Carey - but I hope she can find a way to appeal this.

This remark by Scheff makes about as much sense as her testimony about the rape at Sorenson Ranch, when Scheff tries to explain away the rape of a young teenage girl with the words, "....everyone makes mistakes."

And what does that have to do with the price of tea in China? There are plenty of people angry with the woman, it appear she angered many people in the past and that she is not well liked. Maybe you should go back and read through some old posts, though what's the point? And who knows, when she was a WWASPIE parent and her twins were in the program she might have sold a kid or two or more to WWASPS - none of you will know that for sure unless WWASPS is willing to give up their records to see if she ever got free tuition for referring kids there. That's how it works, you know. Refer a kid to the program and you get a month for free.

Carey Bock DID NOT enroll her sons in the WWASP program. Her ex-husband did. But she never referred any child to any program for any amount of money.

If you are looking for more blog sites on Sue Scheff do a Google search on her name and you will find them for 2 or 3 or 4 pages. Sue Scheff is more hated than Robert Lichfield because at least Lichfield does not pretend to be a fak-o goodie 2 shoes.

There was a case brought against Red Rock Canyon School in 2001. Alvin and Cynthia Robertson brought a suit on behalf of their minor son. This suit listed Melanie Habiban as the owner; Sherman Habiban as the Unit Manager; and J Todd Hockabury as the Admissions Director.

You can see the filings of the Salt Lake case by opening a FREE account with PACER. The other cases are not posted there I think because they are not at that court level. you would have to contact the city court where the case if filed.

Do a search for Abe Dalley. The guy has a long history with the troubled teens industry, including Red Rock Ranch Academy, a wilderness therapy program that was closed in 2002. Red Rock Ranch Academy is the program where Katie Lank fell and later died from the injuries she sustained. According to advocate Catherine Sutton, it was Sue Scheff of PURE who referred Katie Lank to Red Rock. Gayle Palmer DeGraff was the admissions director. Palmer/DeGraff is the same person who owned the program where Catherine Sutton's daughter, Michelle, died from dehydration in 1990.

Parents Sue Over Girl's Hiking Death Wednesday, May 29, 2002

Last Christmas Day teen-ager Katherine Lank was hiking in southern Utah with two of her classmates from a school for troubled youths when she slipped and fell down a deep crevice. Lank, 16, suffered massive head trauma and died three weeks later at a Las Vegas hospital. On Tuesday, her parents, Gregory and Moira Lank of South Carolina, filed a $6 million wrongful-death lawsuit in U.S. District Court against the Red Rock Canyon School, based in St. George.
School officials violated several state regulations and failed "to take all reasonable measures to ensure the safety of Red Rock School students," according to allegations in the lawsuit, filed by St. George attorney Bryce Dixon. The suit also says the hike was too difficult for inexperienced hikers and that there were an insufficient number of staff members to supervise it. Because he had not seen the lawsuit, Red Rock executive director Abe Dalley declined to comment.
According to the school's Web site, Red Rock Canyon School is a state-licensed treatment facility for adolescents "with behavioral or emotional problems who require a level of structure and treatment beyond that which is available in traditional outpatient clinics, but who do not require inpatient psychiatric care." The suit says that on Dec. 25, 2001, four staff members took 10 students on a hike through the Naming Caves in rural Washington County. During the hike, Lank and two other students were allowed to hike unsupervised, the suit claims. A short time later, Lank was critically injured. She died on Jan. 13, 2002.
The lawsuit alleges that Dalley waited about an hour before calling an air ambulance. It was another 1 1/2 hours before the chopper arrived from University Medical Center in Las Vegas. School officials should never have "taken a large group of students to a dangerous area" with only one radio and no medical equipment, the suit said. "Management did not have a plan in place to efficiently handle emergencies or accidents," the suit states.
"Because of the defendants' breaches of their duties, Katie Lank suffered extreme physical and mental pain, shock, agony and suffering prior to her death." The suit, which accuses the school of negligence and breach of contract, asks for $5 million in compensatory damages, $1 million in punitive damages and attorney fees. I am also in the process of getting a manual from another support group leader, that she states, we are welcome...
I do know for a fact, Lori and Ashley Neuman attend these meetings, and Ashley, like Ashlyn did NOT graduate.

Hello Referral Team....
Long time, I know. Many of you already know that my daughter has come home after 6 months at CSA. Her transformation is nothing short of a miracle. She is doing fantastic! I believe the program has saved her life along with God guiding us. I know many of you are thinking, wow, she didn't graduate, no she didn't. I am a firm believer that God made us all different and that was not a mistake. Many children need the complete program, and I do encourage graduation. However, I recognize that every child was sent with different issues. Some more severe than others.
Ashlyn, my daughter, was not a bad child for years. Quite the contrary. She was on the National Gymnastics Team, has awards and trophies from all over the country, and had always been a parents "dream" child. However, at age 13, during a practice, she broke her foot in 5 places. One of the worse breaks possible. With this, she continued to train for 6 months in the cast! Her self-esteem went so far down, we couldn't see it. Finally, on Mother's Day 1999, she announced to me she was quitting gymnastics! I was devastated, but respected her wishes.
Now at age 14, she wanted to try to "fit in" with the "normal" teens. My first mistake, she convinced me to let her try public school. She had never been. That was the worse 2 months of my life. She became involved with Wicca, (witchcraft), and eventually was withdrawn from my Christian beliefs, didn?t believe in God, and was spiraling downward. I immediately put her back into private school, however she would come home to "hang" with the public school peers.
When I stepped back and analyzed the situation, I discovered I need to make a drastic decision. Ashlyn had lived in a glass house for so many years with her gymnastics, now the house was shattered. With this, I surfed the net for hours/days... looking for help. As you all know, she ended up at CSA. The best decision I have ever made! I believe God had his hand in it all the way.
Ashlyn is successfully coaching gymnastics at a local gym she where her career started. Her Team girls just love her and she loves them back. She has brought her tools from the program to enhance her coaching skills. She is by far, one of the best coaches there. The love and joy thaqt is seen on Ashlyn when she is coaching is a sight I hadn't seen in over a year. God lead Ashlyn exactly where she was needed. Only he added extra steps in between to even make her better. She will be returning to her private school on Jan. 29th for a second semester.

My partner in this venture, is Sandra Atkins. She has been a friend for many years and is a beautiful Christian woman. We have been looking for a business to open for the past 3 years, however, always hit road blocks. She went through a divorce, and I was having my own problems. Sandra has her Master's Degree in business, along with a General Contractor's License. She is also a single mother of 3 children. Her knowledge and intelligence combined with my first hand experience will compliment each other to make PURE Inc. a great success. We plan on expanding our horizons by also referring to Private Schools, Learning Centers and Military Schools. That, of course, is our goal for the future. Right now, we are concentrating on helping parents with their struggling teens.
