CEDU has had some problems with the law that they don't reveal to parents. They have been cited for abuse of students, and the local county, San Bernardino, won't place any kids there. Local clinicians know how abusive CEDU is. The local medical clinic on the mountain there is very upset with them, too.

Mel Wasserman, the founder, was such a nut case, that we had to keep him away from parents when he visited. We would organize to keep him busy so they wouldn?t ruin everything by finding out what kind of person he really was. Can you believe it?!

I worked there. I saw how parents were ripped off. It is true that some kids needed "shock" treatment - gang bangers, and so forth. Some kids are literally putting their lives in peril with the stuff they are getting into. Almost anything would be better than some kid dying in a shootout.

However, I know that there is no THERAPY happening there. There are counselors with no formal psychological training. They do have real therapists there, but the school doesn?t want them there. They have them only because they won?t be paid by the school districts if they don?t, and it looks good to the parents. We were ?supposed? to do what the therapists said if there was a problem. That?s what we presented to the parents. It was a lie. We did what our supervisors told us to do. Frequently, it was abusive.

The school tried to get us to go to their "profeets" but we all refused. We knew it was inappropriate. In the "profeets" staff and kids are supposed to bare their souls, after hours of emotional abuse, telling every bad thing they did. If a kid couldn't come up with something terrible, he was shamed. I knew kids who lied and made up stuff just to get everyone off their backs.

One staff stands out - she was a complete s_ _t. Kids told me that in the profeets, she would talk about her promiscuity. She would scream and cry. Two kids AWOL'd later - they told me they saw her in a bar dancing with men like a s_ _t. They were shocked. They told me that they would have a terrible time believing anything she said. She had no formal training at all - she had been a receptionist at a real estate office when CEDU hired her. She keep being promoted at CEDU, because she was emotionally cruel. I'm sorry to say it - that's the way it was. When I quit, she was the head of the middle school. It sickens me to think that that ignorant, cruel, mean-spirited, s_ _t is responsible for all those kids and staff. Do I sound unreasonably biased? I tell you, this is as it is.

I kept complaining about a large braided rug on the floor in the reception office. I begged them to nail it down or remove it. The edge of it kept rolling up and people would trip on it. One night, a grandfather came into the building and tripped on that rug. He could not get up. When the paramedics came, they asked what had happened. I told them that he tripped on the rug and an administrator who was in the room quickly hushed me. I know that they did not hear me because of the noise and they never reacted to what I said. I was a coward and didn't repeat it. I learned later that he died in the hospital - he had suffered a broken pelvis. CEDU killed him. And I didn't say anything. I'm deeply ashamed.

This place stimulates so much fear. You just can't imagine. I am so glad for this opportunity to post. I went to work fearful and depressed. It got to the point where I had to stop driving my car on the way to work because I was crying so hard I couldn't see to drive safely.

The school broke all manner of laws regarding confidentiality. They gave the nurse far more power than she should have had. I knew about medical problems kids had that the nurse ignored as the kids were ?attention-seeking? or ?lying.? I had to go to the parents and make them promise to not tell the school I tipped them off. That was the only way I could be sure the kids got the medical attention they needed. The nurse was angry, negative, and controlling.

I also recall a tall, psychotic and homicidal middle-schooler. He told me about fantasizing murdering his roommates by holding pillows over their faces. I was alarmed and told the administration that I felt he was a threat to the other kids. They ignored me. He eventually was removed by his parents as they observed that he continued to be psychotic. Duh.

I felt that way because CEDU was such a horrible environment. They were traumatizing and abusing kids and I could do nothing. I hated being a part of that. Staff were traumatized ? I met people who were traumatized YEARS after leaving CEDU. They said that when people quit or are fired, they get the CEDU escort. Someone tells you go now and you can?t even pack up your stuff without someone hovering around, pressuring you to leave right now. This happened to me ? I was not even allowed to say goodbye to my kids. The school lied to me, lied to the kids, and lied to the parents. I wonder how many kids are traumatized by CEDU. I?ll never know. I just hate knowing that I was a small part of it. There are excellent school that are truly therapeutic. CEDU is not. God, it feels to good to get this off my chest. I have many, many, many more horrible stories.

These staff stories are absolutely horrifying and I feel for each and every one of you. How I wish parents could hear what goes on in these places from the perspective of counselors and therapists that no longer work in these hellish places. Why don't you all hook up and collaborate on a book? If you can get around the threat of lawsuits for "telling it like it is", and with the right literary agent, this book would be a bestseller right up there with the latest Steven King novel.
It's that nightmarish!!!! Anyway, thanks for sharing and trying to get the truth out there. Like Ginger always says, "it takes a 1,000 voices"

 Fool them while they try to brainwash you. Look closely at the staff. They are all fools - all the way to the top.

These people are hungry for power precisely because they are weak.

They are hungry for CEDU knowledge, because they wouldn't know knowledge if it bit them.

Remember, no matter how much they PUNISH and PLAY WITH YOUR EMOTIONS, that they do it out of their own weakness and stupidity.

Play the Game while you use their own stupidity against them.

Without your loyalty to their tyranny, they have nothing. Fake it while you break it. Everyone does. Don't let them drug you unless you are really depressed or psychotic. Remember, CEDU will make you depressed and psychotic. It might be better to to the hospital than to end up killing yourself. If your parents dont get it - they will when they get the hospital bills

They will keep saying that they are kinder and gentler as a program - don't believe it parents. They are just better at hiding and doing thinks that whole teams will dispute ever happened. People like to save their own skin (income). The staff "buy in" because they will be punished if they don't. It comes down to lying to parents and themselves - that is why so many leave.

That wasn't for you Ginger you are an admirable critical thinker. It was for ding a ling.

Why does the government pay these crazy people and house them? Well, I suppose they are paid to keep them from living in your garage, backyard, or to prevent them from staling from you. That is why, and, most ?welfare? is corporate welfare ? but it is easier to pick on the weak, sick and the mentally ill instead, isn?t it.

Open your eyes people. When a human being can?t get acceptance and love from anyone, when there is no altruism and, nobody even talks to you then you act out. Why? Because society has left ypu  out for being different, left you out to die of loneliness, pushed them aside and, you don?t understand why they have the right to live next to you, christian or not. Trade places with them. You would act out too. Most of the money goes to the military, not to welfare and I?m sure you support war. That?s more humane than welfare? Less humane then boarding schools ? maybe? You moron.

Six trillion of debt is what we rich parents are passing on to our kids and grand-kids - to purchase our temporary prosperity. Yes, it all "trickles down" to that. We, however, never admit we are selling our kids, grandkids, the sick, our elders, our vets, the mentally ill and the developmentally disabled for our own temporary comfort ? do we? Nah, because they inconvenience us. How dare they live next to US?  How dare them inconvenience you with their, so called, right to exist? Send them off to be saved. You moron.

You all say our "value" is ?family and freedom,? You say that we are "Proud to be Americans," but the truth is, for all who know true history (not what those propaganda textbooks said in the 50s and 60s), we don't give a hoot about freedom or liberty unless it is ours alone and it includes money. We think capitalism is a word that means Democracy. Capitalism is exactly what it says ?capital? (money) ?ism? (belief in). Democracy is equality and liberty ? Really, It is...

Yes, democracy would be great, but it does not exist. It never existed. A perverted form of imposed Christianity exists - yours. "I am one of those wierd christians who believes people like you who are without sin should cast the first stone." We abound in silence, and we know what you really are. As George Carlin put it "yeah, this country was founded by slave owners that wanted to be free." What kind of democracy, hordes and wages war while innocent children are imprisoned and beaten? ??um US?? Yeah, you idiot.

And, we are ?Proud to be Americans.?  Well then, we must also be ?Proud to be citizens of the most hated country on earth,? Proud to be the most violent society on earth.? ?Proud that people hate us because we are greed-infatuated tyrants with smart bombs and a dumb president.? Sorry, but I admire Canada, Costa Rica, New Zealand and several others that are smart enough not to threaten anybody. There is nothing to gain by bombing them. They don?t need to spend half their gross domestic product on bombs and wars. They spend it to bring people up instead of tearing them down. (Yes I am going to move there ? so don?t ask). We say, ?Oh, it?s the terrorists.?

Look, we created those terrorists with our financial support. Then, after having them fighting our war with Russia for us, we abandoned them. Now they hate us. And why would they not hate us? We have everything, and, they have nothing. We use them to fight our wars for resources - while we suck their oil. Then we ask them to give up their beliefs and culture for "democracy" and industry - "US industry." And, if they refuse, we "save them" with smart bombs and "Imposed Democracy" We are so "Christian"

?Capitalism.? ?Duh that is right, Joe.? ?Duh, each bomb tells them how to vote, duh, right Joe?? And people write letters to the editor. ?Why do we have so much depression?? Why does the government pay for welfare and housing for my demented psycho neighbor? Why are people agains indoctanating children into Christianity with imprisonment, torture, and beatings?  We'll we did it to the Native Americans and maybe stealing their culture, beliefs and turning them to booze was the Christian thing to do after all.

An ``intervention specialist'' who delivers kids to private behavioral schools and camps in North Idaho was

ordered by a federal jury to pay a former employee $164,595 for allegedly drugging and raping her.

Twila Stephenson filed a lawsuit in U.S. District Court against Richard Armstrong of Bonners Ferry, Idaho,

in November 1996, accusing him of slipping drugs into her drinks, then raping her.

 

Armstrong runs a company called Boundary Lines, which specializes in transporting teenagers from their

homes to private schools, such as the Rocky Mountain Academy.

Stephenson worked for Armstrong as a counselor from 1993 until April 1996.

The jury deliberated for four hours after a fourday trial in Coeur d'Alene.

Jury members determined that Armstrong raped Stephenson while she was unconscious, that he caused her

to be unconscious and that the conduct was outrageous.

``We were surprised by the verdict,'' said Stanton Rines, Armstrong's attorney.

The evidence included two taped confessions, said Craig Mosman, Stephenson's attorney.

``Somebody who commits those acts ought to be in prison,'' Mosman said.

Boundary County officials never charged Armstrong, despite the fact that Mosman and Stephenson filed a

report with police and offered to provide evidence, Mosman said.

Mosman said he never discussed the case with Boundary County Prosecutor Denise Woodbury, who was

not available for comment Friday.

Stephenson has left the state and now lives and works in New Mexico, Mosman said.

She claimed she was fired after the alleged rape when she confronted Armstrong about crushing sleeping

pills into her drink after she refused to have sex with him.

"I was at BCA from in the mid ninties. When I arrived there were just a few of us there, it is true that a kid did kill himself. He lived up the road at RMA. He hung himself from the big water lines running from each room. Suicide was nothing new there. Plenty of people tried. It was pretty common. Lots of kids had to be rushed to the Hospital for drinking toxic chemicials, or from cutting themselves. CPS(child protection services) was also pretty common. Lots of kids were hurt in restraints and other physical confrontations. I belive that CEDU has potential to be a life altering experience. However, the problem is that you get a lot of shitty staff, who abuse their power. Which is almost criminal in nature. To have a job, in which you are not fit to perform, a job that gives you total influence in other peoples minds, childrens minds, is in my opinion not only criminal, it is flat out burn in hell wrong.

It's probably better that we don't, I remember laughing and having a great time back then, but I also remember getting a bit parinoid.

As mush as I dis on North Idaho, I actually do love it, and most of the people here. In reality, there are only wa few whackos and others who have every right to disagree with me.

You might want to chack out Coeur d'Alene Idaho -It is just such a place as you describe. You have to put up with a little cold in the winter, and a few nut balls; but winters are way easier than they were in the Siera Nevada mountains in California and just as beautiful - even a little more beautiful where they haven't logged out all the older trees. Everything is green and there are rivers. elk, moose and big lakes glacial geology everywhere.

All cultures are represented, hick, hippy, goth, jock, cowboy, liberal, conservative, libritarian, independent and even my bent Green (aka bleeding heart, white horse riding, environmentalist ultra liberal tree hugging asshole)- ha ha,a complement, if you don't mone me saying so myself. We definately need more blacks, hippys, and people with pearcings and tatoos, but we're getting more diverse.

I have been all over the country and this is as good as it gets. We are getting bombarded with growth here because people want what you are talking about - I didn't lock my house for 15 years here. You have the City near by (Spokane WA).

Recreation is increqadible - year round fun. Water sports of every kind. Wnter sports of every kind all free. The only thing I miss are the mavericks in San Francisco and the Ocean. So I go there once in a while.

Come on up Ginger. You have a free place to stay any time.
