Story on that kid that died at that boot camp.

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,185172,00.html (http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,185172,00.html)

PANAMA CITY, Fla. ? A teenager who was beaten by guards in a state-run boot camp for juvenile delinquents died from internal bleeding caused by a blood disorder, not from injuries he may have suffered in the beating, a medical examiner reported Thursday.

Martin Lee Anderson suffered from sickle cell trait, which caused his red blood cells to change shape and produce "a whole cascade of events that led to bleeding and hemorrhaging," said Bay County Medical Examiner Dr. Charles Siebert.

"It was a natural death," he said.

Medical forms filed at the boot camp did not indicate that the youth or his family were aware of the disorder, which affects about one of every eight black people, Siebert said. The sickle cell disorder would not show up in routine blood tests, he said.

Anderson entered the camp Jan. 5 because of an arrest for theft, and complained of breathing difficulties and collapsed during exercises that were part of the entry process. He died the next day at a Pensacola hospital.

The Bay County sheriff's office, which runs the camp, said Anderson became uncooperative and was restrained. The boy's mother contends he was murdered by guards who beat him to death.

Siebert said there were some bruises and abrasions on the boy's body, but he attributed those to attempts to resuscitate the youth.

Also Thursday, the Justice Department announced it would investigate the case, along with the FBI. Federal officials planned to focus on whether camp guards violated Anderson's rights through use of excessive force or "indifference to serious medical need," U.S. Attorney Gregory R. Miller said.

On Friday, law enforcement officials planned to make public a videotape that allegedly shows guards beating Anderson. News organizations have filed a lawsuit seeking the video.

Of course im sure the beating did not help the situation. Its amazing how people can get out of the consiquences of their actions. If you beat a person to death its not your fault, the beating only worsened what sickness the boy already had... God I hate humanity.

Me too

They know that it is human nature to take up causes whereby a man may oppress his neighbor, no matter how unjustly. ... Hence they have had no trouble in finding men who would preach the damnability and heresy of the new doctrine from the very pulpit.

::puke::  :sad:

Is there a sane person alive that believes for a minute that he would have died THAT day of SC had he not been subjected to the abuse?
Difficulty breathing. Another case of 'we thought he was faking'?

So, would SC cause his organs to be so badly damaged that they couldn't be donated? So what's the defense? They beating wasn't excessive, he was just in a fragile condition that NO ONE knew about or suspected?

So I guess that means it is legal to beat a kid to death as long as you didn't know he was sick or had a medical condition.

Of course, you can do anything you want to children, children have no rights. You can beat one, just not to death, if the child does die then say you did not know about a medical condition. You can keep them from talking, you can keep them from being seen, you can keep them from being human if you even try hard enough, all of this is of course legal, because you know why! Children don't vote!!!!

Most of that was sarcasm for those that dont know me.

Even if the death is not specifically from the beating (which I'm not saying I believe but for argument's sake) how are they going to excuse beating a kid after he's lost consciousness?  How are they going to excuse the pressure applied to his throat, the kicking, Martin appearing to be like a rag doll etc.  Hopefully people will be able to see the kind of mentality that goes into one of those places.

Not that I'm getting my hopes entirely up but has there ever been a federal investigation into any of these places?

Justice Department Opens Investigation Into Teen Boy's Death at Boot Camp

PANAMA CITY, Fla. Feb 16, 2006 (AP)? The Justice Department is investigating the case of a 14-year-old boy who died a day after entering a boot camp for juvenile offenders, authorities announced Thursday.

The investigation, which will include the FBI and the Justice Department's civil rights division, will focus on whether camp guards violated Martin Lee Anderson's rights through use of excessive force or "indifference to serious medical need," said U.S. Attorney Gregory R. Miller.

Anderson entered the boot camp Jan. 5 because of an arrest for theft, and complained of breathing difficulties and collapsed during exercises that were part of the entry process.

The Bay County sheriff's office, which runs the camp, said Anderson became uncooperative and was restrained. The boy's mother, Gina Jones, contends that her son was murdered by guards who beat him to death.

Law enforcement authorities have resisted legal efforts by news organizations and others to obtain a videotape that two state lawmakers said showed the beating.

Civil rights groups, including the NAACP, had called for state and federal investigations into the death.

Bay County officials were scheduled to release autopsy results later Thursday.

PANAMA CITY, Fla. (AP) -- A family attorney is expressing skepticism about a report on the death of a teenager allegedly beaten by guards in a Florida boot camp for juvenile delinquents.
The medical examiner's report says 14-year-old Martin Anderson died from internal bleeding caused by a blood disorder and not from any injuries he may have suffered while being restrained.

But Benjamin Crump, the attorney for Anderson's family, says "one thing we do know is that damage to his internal organs wasn't caused from this alleged sickle cell trait."

State Representative Gus Barreiro says the M-E's report "still does not justify the type of treatment this kid received."

A videotape that allegedly shows guards beating Anderson will be made public Friday.

Took a look at the video. I did not see any punches thrown. What I saw was 5 cops manhandeling a poor kid that one of them could of dealt with easyly. With no audio we dont know what they said, but indeed, it does seem they are doing something wrong, and police in this day and age cannot even seem to do something wrong. This video just highlights the reasons I dont trust many cops. Only 2, and them I know personally. but I digress. All evidence points to that childs condition being agrivated by the police untill death, but of couse this is being hastey, we will wait and see.

P.S. Dont trust any over 30 and don't trust the Man!!!! (haha)

It depends on which version of the video you watch. For instance, CNNs version is very clear, but they have edited out some of the more damning evidence. In other clips you can see his body move as if he was hit in the stomach- looked like a sucker punch to me. Several times they slammed their knees into his back/butt and legs. At one point he is sitting against the poll and can't even hold his head up. They are holding his arms on either side, twisting them at the wrist. One confusing scene was when they were trying to force him to walk. His legs were like jelly, but someone was hammering on his forearm until he fell.
He was providing NO resistence at all. The restraint appear to be unnecessary to me. I had the impression that they were attempting to force him to say something or apologize before they would let him go, but who knows. What was obvious, is that he wasn't resisting them, except perhaps verbally.

We haven't even seen it all yet.  There's over 80 therapeutic, rehabilitive minutes on that tape.

Tough love in action folks!

He was hit. It's a common way guards and other psychopaths with authority get a quick hit and scare the shit out of you... all too typical. Without any warning they punch really quick and draw back fast. It knocks the air out of you and you don't even know what hit you. I am VERY familiar with that type of sucker punch. This shit is disgusting, those people belong behind bars for MURDER!

I saw the video.
THIS is what I think I saw:

The kid is in an abusive boot camp and is being forced to excercise.
I think while excercising, the boy became ill and the guards percieved this as non-compliance,or as a good time to push the kid to work harder.
MAYBE they put him against the wall pressing a firm knee in the ass.

THEN I AM NOT SURE,looks like someone does a take down move with a forearm in the fron of the kids face!
After all of this its all just a bunch of assholes with stupid hats standing around watching the boy die.
This so called "nurse" cant get a real job anywhere else,so she surrounds herself with a bunch of fat ass cops and sweaty young boys, probably addicted to the perscription drugs she stals from the cabinet every day.

I think the boy was dying BEFORE the cops struck him in the face with the forearm.

THEY RAN THE BOY TO DEATH!The beating occoured AFTER the boy became ill.
When the boy became ill,the cops percieved it as "non- compliance".

CLOSE ALL BOOTCAMPS!!!!

I, for one, am sickened by the "Nurse" that stands there with her damn stethascope around her neck and doesn't seem to intervene at all!  I work in the medical field and this makes me sick!  Give me a few minutes alone in a room with her and her damn stethascope and I'll have her wishing there was a nurse present to assist her!!  :scared:

The sick thing is that fat ass "nurse" would probably enjoy it.These jail nurses are unemployable in any normal job. They get the jail job as a last resort, and because they love the smell of a caged human being.
